I'm not sure but I think it was because the Czechs,in particular, betrayed the Habsburgs in WW1,and since then never wanted anything to do with the Habsburgs. Now Czechia is over 90 percent Czech, but during the days of the Empire it was over a third German as well. How much better the world would have been if Austria-Hungary had been allowed at the end of the war to become a Federalized state as was planned instead of split apart only to become a prey to the Nazis and Soviets 20 years later.
@AXS512 On 7th July 1914 the Council of Ministers for the Dual Monarchy met to discuss peace or war; the Council minutes read: "All present, except the Royal Hungarian Premier, hold the belief that a purely diplomatic success, even if it ended with a glaring humiliation of Serbia, would be worthless and that therefore such a stringent demand must be addressed to Serbia that will make refusal almost certain, so that the road to a radical solution by military means should be opened." :-(
Why were there no services in Prague or Bratislava? The Habsburgs must wake up and realize that their former empire extended beyond Austria and Hungary. Former Habsburg dominions like Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, etc. share a common connection. As a Bohemian, the Habsburgs treated Hungary as the "favorite child" and the empire left what is now the Czech and Slovak Republics hanging dry. If Habsburgs were "Kings/Queens of Bohemia," why can't they live up to their title and reach out?
@chiara1194 R.I.P. to one of the last of the royals. certainly the music is fine on this vid. in answer to your question read the new book The Sorrow and the Beauty coming out next year, boundaries were redrawn in ww one era. and study of that era is key to conflicts even now. Peace.
Hungarian history is closely connected with the house Habsburg and the crown. Hungarian futur also. Otto von Habsburg wanted freedom for hungarian people. He did struggle a lot for it and all his family did and still does.
