  • We had a mustang once she was a beautiful grey but unfortunetly after we had her for about a little over a she had but we had to put her down. Took forever to get a vet out to her we called about 10 vets and eventually after 24 hours of being down we got someone to come and see her. She had lots of spirit. :*(

  • i have a black blm mustang, hes well trained, a great contesting horse. very surefooted and can turn and burn. did i mention i ride him bridless hes completly leg/voice trained. hes 8 years old

  • "11hellokittygirl" seriously girl, read the discription. But What a cute mustang! He seems very gentle and calm. And hey, I havent riden with a helmet in YEARS and everytime I fall, I hit my butt, not my head.

  • me tooxD

  • wtf not all mustangs are wild and crazy thats a common misconception and a myth mustangs are one of the most loyal horse's and r actually pretty easy to train =]

  • Ok, really folks.....my comment that Mustangs are wild and crazy was SARCASM. Look it up, might make more sense to you!

Thanks for all the comments! :)

  • Ha ha, oh my god. Obviously these people missed the point. Like you said, your horse has been well trained. I think that a well trained mustang would be fine for a novice, as your little one doesn't seem to be having any problems. But so many people adopt these things fresh off the range and have no clue what to do with them.. So they end up hurt. Any horse that doesn't about know people is dangerous for a beginner. Once educated though, they obviously make great mounts like yours :)

  • @tuperdoo haha i adopted a wild blm mustang as my 1st horse ( i have had much experience!) i have had her only 6 months and i can catch, lead, groom, saddle, (i usse a hackmore) and mount her with no problem ! so all those who think that u are being serious arent thinkin ;) love the horse!

  • i agree with aceandskye that mustangs are not all wild and crazy! i have one of my own...not just a mustang but a spanish mustang autually!!!! and she is not wild or crazy we do have our moments when we are spunky and etc. and i also agree with aceandskye mustangs make great barrel racers!!!!

  • I have a BLM mustang named Snickers(my little painted pony) and he's completely calm and sweet. It's the TRAINING and HANDLING that is the problem.

  • Tell me this. When people first broke horses did they have helmets? answer: No. Not saying you don't need them I'm just saying they're so you feel more safe. And no I don't wear a helmet on ANY of my horses. But both of my horses are calm and laid back so I don't have to worry about not wearing a helmet

  • it doesn't matter if u think ur horse is calm enough, and that u have known him/her for a very long time, horses have there moments, and can spook at the smallest things.

so to be on the safe side, just wear a helmet, it really does save lives.

  • OK NOT ALL MUSTANGS ARE FREAKISHLEY CRAZY they can be sweet they have a possibility of being UNtameable but dont judge them 4 that i have some of my own and they make good barrell racing horses

  • Hmmm, mustangs are usually pretty mellow. It all depends on the training of the horse and their personality. But I wouldn't recommend a novice (Under two years of experience) getting a mustang, or even a horse. Unless they have someone close (relative/close friend) who is willing to mentor them. As for a helment, its purely the riders choice, not somebody else. In western, nobody wears helments. English, everbody does.

  • oke i have a question:

i'm living in austria and want to adope, import a mustang from the USA.

    is it possible or not?

    ._. please replay

  • I don't think it is. I'm not sure you would be allowed to transport a wild horse that far.

  • my first horse was mustang! i got him when i was 8! he was very very green, and i am still alive. he has never bucked me off! So, novice people, get a Mustang!!!

  • Green and green usually makes black and blue as a general rule. Sure there are exceptions, but I don't want to condone something that *might* turn out bad.

  • @tuperdoo I agree. It's the same thing with OTTB's. You wouldn't just go out and get an OTTB when you're a novice/green rider. I totally agree with your statement!

  • @CandaceKM

You're an idiot. What type of moron suggest novice horse people to adopt a "very very green" Mustang? Jack ass.

  • @jezzykax3 Im not an idiot. I'm saying that if you get a conplelty trained horse your not gonna learn much, ya know? It's more of a training process for both if you have a mustang. And your the fucking jack ass. Prick.

  • Mustangs make great horse for novice riders. Given that they have been very well trained and have been everywhere and done everything. They tend to be more level headed than QH's. I have 2 right now that I trained myself. They are just the sweetest things. How long have you had her? Where is her freeze brand?

  • I've had Tempo since 2003. He's still going strong and taking care of the little ones. His brand shows he's from Twin Peaks, NV.

  • @Smrobs84 Quarter Horses are still one of the best and most trustworthy breeds. They still flog the average Mustang at Cutting and Campdrafting, they are naturals at it. But Mustangs are the next best thing though,

  • mustangs are the best gentle thing I like them better than domestic horses they are smarter and bond to just one person so its nice.

  • Hate to break it to ya, but my first horse was a mustang. I got her when I was 11. I was defiantly a novice rider. Mustangs are no more dangerous than any other horse.

  • Hate to break it to ya, but I am not going to advocate Mustangs to novice horse owners. Sure, there may be exceptions....however, Mustangs get a very bad rep because of ignorance. Glad it worked out for you.

  • Some people seem to be over reacting about the helmet thing. I have been around horses my entire life without saddles, bridles and helmets. Real "horse people" know their horses.... Mustangs are no different than any other horse you have to earn their trust and respect:)

  • This is not a flame. I'm 50 and I wouldn't dream of riding without a helmet. Heads are extremely fragile and you only have one. Wish I'd had one on when one tried to brush me off under a tree when i was in my 20's. It doesn't take a mean horse to have an accident.. they can get spooked easily enough. Mine ran backwards into a ditch when we rode past a field with lamas in it. Apparently never had seen one.

  • lol i still ride like that.....Love it

  • I used to ride around all the time like that when I was a kid. Very cute.

  • Wheres your daughters helmet? Just wondering because my mom would have spanked me around the yard if i was that young riding without a helmet.

  • I love mustangs but while they are wild and free

  • Trust me, they're much better off with regular vet, hoof, and dental care. Besides, they're not really wild, they're feral.

  • Isn't it amazing what a little love and patience can do? :)

Yeah...such a wild and uncontrolable mustang, lol. I've got a few like that myself :)

  • The reason Mustangs get a bad rap is because inexperienced DODOs buy them for $125 from BLM and have no idea how to gentle them and train them correctly. All our mustangs have been just like this. Even at 2 or 3 years old. Completely willing, relaxed, and easy going.

You've done a great job with this mustang!

  • Exactly. I wish it were possible to somehow screen the adopters better to avoid them going to homes that aren't knowledgeable. My own horse is a paso/appy and he's got more attitude and unpredictability than any mustang I've ever met.

  • I love that your daughter looks and feels so comfortable on him. Anyone that has nasty comments about your child not wearing a helmet, simply has no idea how amazing well-trained mustangs are.

  • Anyone who would make a dumbass statement like you did P01sonblood is obviously ignorant and knows nothing about horses,

  • Nice horse! I want one so bad!

  • haha. yup he looks really crazy to me! lol

  • wow!!!i love the title but s/he looks like he couldnt hurt a fly!!!!i love his chocolate bay coat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how is dat wild r carzy...how bored must that horse be!? lol

  • aw cute

    how old is he?

how long have you trained him for?

    how tall is he?

  • Hi! He is 9 years old and I've had him since he was 4. He has been "in training" that entire time. He has done shows, rides English and western, was on a drill team, been in parades, trail rides, jumps, he can pull a travois, lay down on command, and is soon to be a beginner lesson horse. I love this pony so much!!! He's 14.1 hands.

  • really sweet.

i've always found it really touching how such a large strong animal could let even an inexperienced little child ride on its back...

  • yea not all mustangs are crazy or wild the just need some TLC

  • I disagree. My 2 year old filly is a terrific horse to be around . you CAN NOT even tell that she is a mustang. about a week after I got her I was already combing her tail.

  • its sarcasm guys.. come on lol

  • hes not crazy wat r u talking about

  • haha "Wild and crazy" yeah right.. *snorts in luaghter* personaly, I like mustangs running wild and free in the desert... but thats my opinion..

  • I've ridden a mustang before and he had some jumping training! lol I fell off of him though lol but that was when I first starting jumping and he refused lol=P

  • some people think that mustangs can only be crazy and dangerous. this one proves them wrong.

  • Aww.. the kid has so much confidence on him. I bet she'll be great when she grows up.

  • so mush for crazy he seans like a bif ol' sweethart!

  • lol he is a fireball all right...lol very cute, the little girl is adorable too!

  • haha i was so joking with the last comment.

  • no mustangs are NOT all wild and crazy. You are giving mustangs a bad name u bitch

  • Yes, yes.....sarcasm is priceless. :D

  • haha. I was being sarcastic although i didnt know you would take it that way so yeah =]. I have a video of my mustang its called "Gawain Thunder" check it out.

  • Awh thats adorable... what a dead broke Mustang!

  • niiice!
