I remember going to London Gardens to see Gowan and Glass Tiger... I was a big Glass Tiger fan, and they did a great show, but Gowan BLEW ME AWAY!! What an amazing performer, from his amazing vocals to the theatrical presentation of his music.......

I met this guy when i was god, umm 11, 12 yrs old in Ontario Place toronto in either 85 or 86, loved it it was all gowan for me from there! we didnt even know him or heard of his music! we just got off the bumper boats and i remember meeting a girl bumped into here when me any my bro were playing! and heard this song. I liked her lol anyhow shortly after smiling and watching her we attended this concert! Loved it....

I saw him in Winnipeg at a small venue and he kept asking "What song is it you want to hear?" with everyone of course yelling "A Criminal Mind!". After the 4 time asking I yelled out "Crazy Train" and he just hung his head embarrassed and all I could think was "Oh Shit, I just hurt Gowan's fellings!" I have regretted it for 15 years, so I am making this my public apology, "Sorry!"

This was recorded on Dec 15, 1990 at the Spectrum in Montreal for a MuchMusic Big Ticket Special. I was the recording engineer. We mixed it two weeks later at Comfort Sound in Toronto. No autotune or lip-syncing back then! Just a great musician/ singer at the top of his game. Looking forward to mixing Larry this New Year's Eve in Niagara Falls with Styx. (Glass Tiger are the opening act) I've recorded Gowan several times since 1984, and he's always been a friendly, unpretentious guy.

It is so funny to see this again, as I was at this very concert when the video was filmed. It was at the Manitoba Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg, 1985, I think (not 1990 as in the title). Great concert!

I don't recall who played alternate keyboards, saskrider, or who was drumming on that tour (Lost Brotherhood), but the Guitar player is Kenny Greer (Tom Cochrane & Red Rider/Gowan) ans the bass player is Terry Gowan.

That was me. Sure STYX were bigger. Gowan being a solo act while STYX is a band. Gowan could have used better promoters and had he moved to the States he'd be huge. What new material does STYX have besides Criminal Mind? If I know him, Larry will get known and go back to solo. He's too talented to stay a keyboardist for long. He's evolving as an artist and is full of ambition and needs to be on his own while STYX just tour till they get their pensions.

This is one his greatest performances and he sings the whole song. In the STYX version of 'Criminal Mind' he cuts the chorus in half and the verses. Too bad he couldn't sing the whole song as it's meant to be sung. What a treat! Thanx!

I totally agree. He's the real thing. Such intensity in an artist can't be found just anywhere. I 1st heard this song ~1990 and LOVED it. I've never seen Gowan till YouTube. Thanks for this excellent video of a true Canadian gem of an artist and one gorgeous male. I hope he leaves them Sticks (sorry) and goes solo. He really rocks alone. No one should ride the coattails of a masterpiece like "Criminal Mind". Thanks again for this video LOVE IT. ^5
