  • i feel like crap waching this guy dawing,he draws them so fast and easy i take like an hour drawing a head :{

  • lol "everybody be patient. He'll be there with the marker any day."

  • What he does in 10 seconds I do 1/4th as well in 20 minutes.

  • Jim is just awesome wish I could draw like him :(

  • six people are just.... FUCKING PRICKS.

  • Stan lee is great, but man, he needs to shut the hell up.

  • @jdkjkjdkjdks He doing his job, it would be awkward for him to just sit still on the chair and just watch Jim draw.

  • jim lee is my all time fav

  • he can draw a full hero in the time it takes me to draw a stickman. gzus

  • Now that's more like it. I've been drawing characters a while, and I learned nothing from anatomy charts. Even tutorials did little to help. The fact is that when you're drawing a person, you have to visualize and pose a lot of different body parts while coordinating your hand to draw them. Your drawing ability depends on how well you can do all these things at once.

  • the guy has it mastered

  • the has it mastered, i wanna be that great

  • @rivenjersey The artist's name is George Bridgman. You can find his books on Amazon.com.

  • Repetition is the mother of mastery. Think how old you'll be in two years. If you sketch a little, almost every day, consciously, there's no way you won't be drawing much better and with more ease, confidence and better results, by then. Now, how old will you be if you quit and let yourself be discouraged by others' mastery? It's a choice.

  • Stan Lee sure likes them "Supers"

  • awesome ninja turtle arm

  • Probably the best comic book body artists that worked for Marvel were the Buscemas. Their artwork is unmatched, but Jim Lee comes close.

  • hmmmm. eye over pyramid?????

  • Jim is really smart with this.

  • My peers are always like "OMG! I love your drawings! You're so good!" Then, I look inside my head at my Awesome Artists shrine (which totally includes Jim) and weep inside...

    Someday...

  • @HoshiHikari I know that feeling well old chum. The feeling of total worthlessness that comes from seeing an expert in action.

  • best turtorial on youtube

  • he has a good point, if you can draw a shape from any angle, you can draw the human body from any angle.

  • i want 1% of his skill

  • @AshRockism you're asking for a bit much.

  • HE draws so fast!!!! o.o

So this is the level of a professional comic artist :o

  • This video series gives more drawing info and experience tips than most of my art classes combined!

  • jim lee talk about a man who is anatomy artist , i dont understand the name of this anatomy artist george..... something else, can anyone help me or give the full name of this man and jim said his name at 3:32 thanks

  • @rivenjersey George Bridgman

  • its aewsome how a comic book god stan lee can appreciate another artists work, its amazing :) love it

  • the modern way to draw comics which Jim is showing here blows away the style Stan Lee and Jack Kirby used back in the day. None of that stick figure crap

  • @XxArkhamxAsylumxX Without Stan The Man Lee and Jack King Kirby there would be no Marvel comics.

  • jim lee is just tremendously talented and draws better than 99.99999999% of artists out there.

  • @neonaction whats the .0000000000000001 out there thats better? lol

  • I'm glad that paper he drew on is worth like, a zillion dollars

  • Man, he is amazing.

  • He drew all that in like rougly 8 min...god what a master...it inspires me to keep on working, but also sucks because he is SOOO GOOOD. I hope Jim Lee lives forever.

  • His talent is just perplexing. He forgot the Deltoid was called the Deltoid yet he creates the most badass pieces. You go to any fine arts school and you see all the numerous students that know every single joint, ligament, muscle.. and cant draw half as good as this guy.

  • ALA ... I created him and the story ANTIBODIES, VCS CAN HELP ME DEVELOP-LA

  • so glad to have found this!

  • thanks for the upload this sort of thing is epic.

  • "I'll never be as good as this guy"

that statements only true if you give up and don't try!

  • "franky, you don't know why you can draw better than the next guy." yup talent is so important if you wanna be top artist like jim

  • wat a bad ass. "thats from spiderman 129 uve done this before. lol.

  • wish i could get lessons from him(jim lee)

  • How much money does these quys make can someone plz respon.!

  • ít depends on how famous and talented you are. A comic book artist gets paid per page done, event hough some have exclusive contracts. Jim lee is rich by the way, hes one of the founders of image comics and he founded

  • @HollywoodHeavyweiqht they get paid pretty good

  • J2Cool, Great post, do you have more from this series?

  • master

  • I feel weird watching these videos. In school I am known as the "drawer"(which I hate, it's called artist), the best "drawer in my school actually. And I watch these and it's like, my skills are ordinary in the drawing world, not anything special.

Also, these vids get me in the mood for drawing, I'm sketching some concepts for a character I'm making and these vids just really get me pumped up for drawing. I love these videos.

  • If your drawings are anything like the ones in "Unfinished Drawing Animation", then you're right: You're not a good drawer/artist by any means.

  • No, you dumb asshole, that wasn't serious drawing. That was stop-motion. I drew those sloppily because it was too much work to do. I had to draw, take a picture, erase, draw, take a picture, and repeat over and over again. God, thanks asshole. Took me this long to figure out what you were talking about(lol). I can draw way better than that video. Jeezuz.

  • In order to be modest, like you're trying to be with that previous comment, you have to have talent. You don't have any...

  • Yeah, because you know so much. And you've already written this before. Originality, please.

  • Hmm, I don't think I'm making myself very clear. ALthough that's understanable since a 31 year old man can't tell that "you're" stands for "you are" and that you should have said "your."

Unfinished Drawing Animation wasn't seriously drawn. That was all sloppy on purpose. And unless you can prove you can draw better than me, you may as well shut the fuck up. Though obviously, YOU'RE only on here to try to piss people off. Doesn't work on me, cause I use something called logic and reason.

  • understandable*

    because*

    * = correcting typos.

  • fuck, did I say "you're"? I usually never make that mistake, seriously. But whatever, your work sucks.

  • @iDraw3G ..... Are you even serious? That was pretty lame, loll.

  • what don't you upload your work online, then?

  • @iDraw3G My computer is kaput(did I spell that right?). I may not be a professional comic book artist, but my stuff is rather good. And at 18, there's still years for improvment. I'd probably up to modern Jim Lee standards if I took art classes as well. But Todd Mcfarlane said he was self-taught, so I strive for that. But yeah, my computer is destroyed. Car crash in snowy weather made sure of that.

  • omg, you are so fucking pathetic. You're able to log in to youtube but not upload pictures?

  • I'm lookin at Youtube via my PS3, that doesn't make me pathetic.

  • horse shit

  • What is?

  • you viewing youtube via a PS3

  • Umm, I'm doing it right now. It's called internet browser. Get one, you'll find out.

  • @corruptgunslinger I hope you can fix your computer soon, i am really curious about your work (i want to become an comic book artist myself and i need all the inspiration that i can get =P)

  • @corruptgunslinger

Todd McFarlane has a BFA and went to the Alberta College of Art and Design, as well as Eastern Washington University studying Graphic Art. He may have learned a fair bit of anatomy from comics, but he is definitely not self taught. Self taugh guys are people like adam Hughes, david Finch, Sal Larocca, Scott McDaniel, etc. Those are guys who are self taught, with no artistic tutelage.

  • @corruptgunslinger

I can tell you that you need to learn more on skulls and bone structure. From what I see in Unfinished Drawing Animation.

And these are my deviantart accounts: Chickenlover13(dot)deviantart(dot)com and Sumgai83(dot)deviantart(dot)com. I know what I'm talking about.

  • In order to be modest, like you're trying to be, you have to have skill. You don't have any...

  • He's a friggin' master, that Jim Lee.

  • i wish stan would quit interrupting jim god its so annoying

  • lol " I CAN DO THE MONA LISA" HAHAHHA

  • that's happened to me sometimes i don't draw for a day

  • both of lee are great

  • he's too good damn it

  • Jesus Christ! The speed at which he knocks up those doodles is sick. No construction lines, nothing! I guess when you're that good the construction lines are in your head.

  • pen = sharpie

  • anyone know what kind of pen he is using or can recommend me a simular one

  • It's just a normal black marker

  • Ahhh Stan is acting like a teacher to Jim Lee... how annoying

  • not really he just knows wat hes talkin about

  • To a person who draws, the best partner to have is a person who can tell you what to draw. Sure, you can be a good artist by your own, but with a person who can give opinions and ideas, you can draw something even better.

  • @ddangho914 yes, indeed, YUp!!!! :D

  • He's fucking stan lee.

he was inventing modern comic books while jim lee wasnt even an idea.

  • @xrockthe40ozx That's irrelephant.

  • @ruinawish You're an Ear Elephant.

  • 100th comment! woo hoo!

  • stan lee dont shut up!

    "camara this, camara that"

  • jim lee is the first artist ive ever admired growing up!

  • stan lees being a prick in this vid

  • i cant standlee

  • Jim lee man...flippin eck !

  • What "invisible-superpen" is he using and why does he keep using that pencil?

  • its not "invisible", its just that the camera cant pic up on pencil(its too light)...

  • @@

    ♥♥♥!!!

  • jim lee is my hero!!!!

  • This video always keeps me humble.

  • his talent is almost a slap to the face lol the speed and ease with which he does his drawings makes me feel like i'll never be on this guys level, but hey, you gotta keep practicing right?

  • @niggabanguh3000 It's almost inhuman to watch. I've been drawing for years and I'm pretty confident of what I can pull off given time and solid work but Jim's pen flies over the page faster than sketch work. And it still comes out looking like a flawless, finished image.

  • as a kid i watched the how to draw comics the marvel way with stan "the man" lee and John Buscema. stan has an excellent narrators voice.

  • His "warm-up" drawings are awesome. I wish I was that good with markers. If I don't do rough pencils for my drawings, they always get messy.

  • jim lee makes it seem like its easy

  • praktissss

  • I feel like Jim Lee is not telling us everything he knows...

  • Well some techniques are not quite for everybody to see... consider it as a professional secret. Each artist has it's own personal touch, that's why even here Jim show's only the basics and how to improve your skills.

You can learn from this so much and of course the most important item in all this is: PRACTICE.

  • THIS IS ABSOLUTELY the BEST series to watch for anyone looking to perfect their character rendering skills. A master artist interviewing another master, incredible. Stand Lee knows precisely which questions to ask and Jim is excellent at answering in a way you can just soak up. These videos are absolutely packed with holographic dense detail regarding how a master artist thinks and performs. A very rare insight. The potential of the internet at its best. Perfect practice makes perfect!

  • yeah sometimes i cant draw too =B

  • im jealous,i wnna draw like that

  • u dnt have to be jealous. Guys he study that,he practised A LOT! AND WHEN AM SAYING ABOUT PRACTISE I MEAN PRACTISE! IT NEEDS PRACtise!. if u want to study it then study and practise thats the thing u have to do! =)

  • this is fuckin incredible. He even doesn;t use any help lines. He perfectly feels the shape.

  • The world needs to now this...ops sorry...

    Need to See!

  • theyre just so damn quick....ugh

  • George Bridgman FUCK YEAH!

  • wish they still made design markers :(

  • TOAA

  • wow he is incredible, i thought i was good, but im still out of his league, just practice practice

  • i mean 28

  • he was 26 yrs old in this vid

  • pure awesomeness, this guy inspired thousands of young ppl to get into comics, he`s a legend!

  • damm he is so fast!

  • yeah definitely!

  • Inspirational.

  • HAXOR!

  • wow! that was awesome and he drew it really fast! i'm impressed =D x

  • jim lee is super cool

  • wow when jim lee does the figure at 1:38 sounds like a genuis and that proves he's cooler than other artist in the biz

  • Comment removed

  • I hope you're right. Cuz i suck compared to him.

  • Dont sweat it, i had the same view as u a few years back but over the years you DO improve. Plus, by adding shading it makes drawing look more 3D automatically, but if u imagin a sketch without the shading n observe the shapes involvd its all good. Keep at it. F'real.

  • @cemetarygate That or poison him.

  • I have video files I got somewhere and I watch them over and over again. Great stuff. He hasn't lost his touch over the years.

  • Alex ross is good but if he did some lines like to add effect it would be good but Ji Lee and Alex Ross are amazing

  • he drew gambit

  • wow Jim Lee rules!!

  • Bridgeman is a friggin God! I'm glad someone else on the planet knows

  • other artists will agree with you =)

Gottfried Bammes is another anatomist I like

  • I am also a fan of Bammes. Internet you surprise me yet. hahaha.

  • i like how layered his sketches are, and how thick and meaty his hand drawings.

  • george bridgman rules!

  • Jim sei il migliore!

  • he makes it look easy. But drawing like he does is VERY VERY hard to do.

  • hmm maybe you're better than him, but you certainly don't know what modesty and respect are. Jim Lee is one of the all time greats, and being an artist has a lot to do with learning and paying respect to what's been done before in the history of art. But to be fair, you are only 13, or 15 according to your youtube page.

  • I seriously doubt that you can draw "better" but I respect your opinion.

  • Since you draw so I quote "beter" then post a video of it here or better yet put a link to some of this amazing "drowing". And oh learn proper english retard.

  • I really doubt it.

  • Haha, don't make me laugh...

  • Jesus, even his "crappy sketches" are good !

  • he has amazing talent!!

  • What channel was this on? I would have watched the hell out of this. Stan's awesome.

  • This is great..a useful insight into the workings.. and Stan Lee is just the best.

  • man this guys good at drawing=)

  • His warm-up drawings are still amazing! :D Damn he's guuuud!!

  • The amazing thing is that most ppl wouldnt understand squat from what he's explaining. He going thought details the exact things thats going trough an illustrator's mind when he's drawing. It's a unity language only illustrators understands. I sucks at math but the level of concentration I reach sometimes when I draw it's something I never could understand or explain. LONG LIVE JIM LEE

  • holy friggin crap. i thought i was good. Jim Lee is the one. Superman: for tomorrow and batman: hush are what they are cuz he illustrated them. (and the story.)

  • I wonder why he said #129? That has the Punisher first appearance where he's aiming at Spider-man with his rifle.

  • great work dude.. =)

  • one word.. .wooow...

  • how do u no tht u wnt be as goodppl have diff stiles i mean the ultimate spiderman drawings are pretty basic compared to othrs.

  • genius!

  • Man, I suck at art compared to Jim Lee. I'll never be as good as real comic artists. Maybe I should be an underwear model...hmmmm....

  • man, i havent bought a comic book in a year. watching this kinda brings back my childhood.

  • "swipes real pictures?" You realize pretty much every artist uses references when they work, right? drawing from imagination takes years of just getting a library of images in your head so you know what this or that looks like from various angles. In short, Jim Lee swipes real pictures too. And everyone else does. It's just as needed.

  • comic book artist who have dead lines who do panel to panel dont have time to get photos after the writer gave them pacific angles and scenes.most artist do use photos to practice not panel to panel ..thats why most comics dont look human and we prefer it that way..if u like fine art then u can go comment on Michaelangelo

  • It's not like they go get references for every panel. AS NEEDED. And generally artists keep a library of reference photo's at home; they don't generally have to look for them. And by the way: michealangelo was around before photography, idiot. your reference is flawed.

  • Michelangelo before photography??thats not even relevant to what i typed.he still was fine artist.reference is not always needed speaking as an artist you first have to do rough sketches and use guide lines.artist know human figures because they learned that going to art school,so u can go go shove it. u r probably a posing male model!!nice try stay away from comics.and by the way; Michaelangelo did not need photos he had real people to pose. iidiot

  • Real people can't stand that still, andwhile comics don't fall under the "fine art" category, that doesn't mean the artists don't use references. If youve ever seen comic roughs you would know know they do make a number of sketches before producing any panels.

  • awesome

  • Hey J2cool. Big thanks for the upload on the Jim Lee series! In terms of Ross, he's a fantastic painter cover artist. Whether he could put out a monthly comic title like Jim Lee, is another story though.

  • There are thousands of artists in the world who can draw like Alex Ross. And they are all excellent artists, but Jim Lee is in a whole different level. He's a genius of the pencil

  • I feel he's fear too. Waking up didn't know how to draw even Mickey Mouse's ears. Welcome to my world dude!!

  • Jim lee top greatest with Bucema and Frazetta...Alex Ross aint that good he swipes real pictures.

  • Different styles, man. You're comparing apples and oranges. I think they're both great.
