. Nothing beats a blower on an engine nice car. But the trouble with the ford 5.0 is they made so many version of it the best is the BOSS 302, 3 firing orders, oil pans for days they are a pain to work on and getting all the right parts to put it together an in a car is a night mare motor mounts, transmission, drive belt and accessory but if you were here you would have millions of them to pick from.
it wouldn't happen to be the rover 3.5 v8?, because my dad put one of them in his sierra when he did grasstrack not many years ago, apparently it went the clappers!
Quick question. Don't get me wrong, I'm a dubber, so not a Ford lover (but appreciate good engineering), but if you're doing it for the noise and not that worried about the cost to a point, why not put a 5.0 Ford V8 in?? It should fit cause the South African XR8 Sierra's had them in, then you would be keeping it Ford and the drivetrain will fit. I know it's a harder engine to find in this country, but u can get them
@eggfromsywell Hey! TRouble is A the cost of the engine, and B the cost of the parts here. It'b be a better to use a chevy cost wise but its a tight fit and again they are sort after so not so easy to find, but the ford engine is narrower and agree - easier to use. Its just a question of cost and rover engines are 2 a penny here so it kinda made sense. The next one will be chevy powered - this car was put back to n/a and sold, and replaced by a cossie in the end!!
I have an 3door in good nick that im thinking of converting to rover v8. yeah u could put a cossie engine in it but would cost a fortune with ecu n intercooler n what not!! n 2.8 v6 is heavy n under powered. pluss v8 sounds loads betta and weight is similar to pinto so wont kill the handaling. bet it is so much fun in the wet!! lots of work, cool car well done mate!!!
ah, but by the time u have paid out for all the bits to do rover v8 conversion yr be on about 3k (cossie money) anyways - it wasnt cheap to do - but it was what my mate wanted to do! yes v8 sounds awesome! cheers and good luck - and if ya need any advice my mate will be happy to have a chat with ya about it ;)
Well obviously my friend is stupid then - is that what yr saying??! I'm not quite sure what yr trying to say here - because pretty much all sierras - except cosworths - have rubbish engines as standard so any V8 is an upgrade in my eyes!
rover 3.9, began life as a 3.5 in the blue 5door. any v8 is good lad!! dunno anything about the audi engines but it would sure be different - do it i say!
what is this engine from ? rover ? currently i have sierra with 2.0 pinto engine... run fine, but it's not enought ;dd I think about put there audi 3.6 V8 engine from audi v8.... what u think about it ?
Hi haha yep those 1.8s are arent very tough! Well its not the easiest job to do but having re shelled this car 3 times now its almost down to a weekends work! THere are quite a few bits to collect first and a few bit which need modding - i can send u the owner of the v8;s mobile number, he said he have a chat with ya and tell u exactly what u need. Let me know if this is of interest to ya....

fomocoboy 1 year ago
yes, but why not just use a cosworth 4cylinder engine, in stead of ruin them with the v8??
