Hannan is too radical for Cabinet. As noble as his positions are they are not the general positions of the New Right conservative party.

NHS is a bombshell; it's rubbish and a finacial blackhole. It gets more expensive every year and is a painful tax burden on those that sustain it. Healthcare is not right.
My parents fight and help to bring down a communists in Czech Republic, to free the country of the opression, tyrany and ideological dogma. What they said to me is - "It is your turn. There are allways some that will try to steal your freedom. It doesn't matter if they came with guns and tanks or with smiling face and offering hand. You must fight back. In our time - the Soviet Union was the enemy. European union is just the same reborn empire of lies. Show that you deserve your freedom."
I m still amazed they got away with our NO in France. Fortunately, there is now a non racist party in France trying to unite all of us who wants their country BACK.
It's good to hear there are still some people defending democracy at the EU, thanks Mr Hannan.
The EU is the new face of communism. Massive unemployment, no growth, no freedom, no democracy. Poverty for everyone apart from the BBC and the others who support the EU.
You are somewhat innocent "TBM" if you genuinely believe that the Irish "saw off the might of the British Empire". Yes, we did win our independence from Britain. But, ultimately, it was concluded through the medium of a treaty signed in London, and not by guerilla warfare.
Interesting how Hannan passionately believes in "respecting the No vote". But he doesn't show a scintilla of respect for the "Yes" vote of 1,200,000 Irish people.
What about the first vote? The Irish were brow-beaten and blackmailed into voting 'NO.' The chief of Ryanair said if Ireland voted No, the EU wouldn't forgive the Irish ''because the feckers have long memories.'' The French rejected it. The Dutch rejected it. We would have rejected it if we had been given the chance. The European Union is a Marxist construct based on the Gramscian principle of a long march through the institutions, and you poor Irish bastards fell for it.
@Mickmars90 Good that you are able to mind read the thoughts of all 1,200,000 Irish voters who assented to Lisbon ratification. Sad that you have to resort to racist abuse in order to make your point.
@Mickmars90 At least we can speak plain English. Unlike you. "A Marxist construct based on the Gramscian principle of a long march through the institutions." Yeah right, Mickmars, keep on talking like that and you'll develop a very large plum in your larynx.
It's called eloquence sir. I have a propensity to engage in prolixity. However, I like to utilise every opportunity available to demonstrate my perspicacity and my alacrity for political debate. Some may call it pomposity (including me at times) but sagacity is a quality more people should develop.
@ManlnCognito Being a long term member of the Conservative Party, I personally don't consider myself a "leftist" in any sense of the word. Your use of the english language is absolutely incredible, you have no way of argueing without insulting someone.
We are coming out of the global recession, and all the hundreds of new schools and hospitals filled with extra staff will still be there when we do. The record shows that this kind investment wouldn't have happened at all under the Conservative Party. Thank you, Labour.
It's amusing you think we're coming out of the recession. I believe we have a long long way to go yet, thanks partially to Mr. Browns gross negligence.
Hannon. You confidently declared to Gordon Brown that "you cannot spend your way out of recession." But Britain IS now coming out of recession because our economy is growing again. Were you wrong? Could Gordon Brown have CUT Britain out of recession and into growth?
No, stocks are beginning to be sold again and that will bring about a short-term period of growth until these stocks run out. The recession is still there, it hasn't peaked yet and the economy will recede again. Brown has certainly not helped the economy repair itself and we still have a national debt that will take nearly 30 years to repay.
Yes, the economy IS growing so we ARE coming out of this recession HOWEVER much you wish it to be temporary. The truth is that Britain had it's longest continuous run of economic growth with low inflation and borrowing rates on record under Labour, and the break in that run is temporary. This recession started in the U.S. under a CONSERVATIVE administration and spread around the world. The recession hit Britain LATER than many other countries and we're coming ot of it SOONER.
I don't wish the recession to be long-lasting, it's just going to be and this growth is purely a temporary fix. Labour provided a period of unsustainable growth marked by the highest level of household debt ever seen in Britain, it deregulated the banks to a level that had not been seen before and stupidly devolved the Bank of England, which could have saved us from such a downturn under the old system. Thanks to Brown, we are now sitting on an economic timebomb.
People, who were laughed at couple of years ago for predicting this crisis (Petter Schiff, Ron Paul), are now saying that this crisis will be much worse, because it is being cured with the very same thing that caused it - printing money and debt. I believe them, but I pray they are wrong.
Freatork, printing money is not "growth", stocks going up in devalued pounds is not 'growth". If you think this is a recovery I'd hate to see what you call an onrushing depression...
Hannan likes Ron Paul but i don´t think they are very similar. I don´t think Paul shares Hannan love for Thatcher (and Reagan). Both Hannan and Farage are "thatcherists"
Agreed. I'm more in tune with the Reagan/Thatcher school of thought, and Ron Paul is quite a different sort from them. I do like Mr. Paul, and I agree with him on many issues, but just as often have to ask myself what the hell he's talking about. On the other hand, I don't have any significant disagreements with anything I've heard from Mr. Hannan thus far.
He won some converts from the controlling dem. congress and Tip O'Niell, they were later referred to as Reagan Dem's, he was able to get his agenda through based on the conservative democrats splitting with the left wing of the party. God Bless Ron Paul! How many people have to croak before he get's a crack at the presidency?lol (I know, petty dark humor...lol)

Leaving the Eu would be a mistake. In uncertain times. Protectionism would negatively effect our economy. One country can't do everything. The EU frees up trade between it's members..
However, I do agree with Hannan on one major point. More power should be given to individual nations, decentralize power and distribute it to constituencies. However, I believe we should be looking for a solution from within in the EU, not be looking at rejecting the Lisbon treaty outright.
I personally don't care if he was the party waterboy. Mr. Hannan has a deep understanding of the principles of freedom and liberty. The more people we can find like him the better.
