what a joke! if you buy this i have a bridge to seel you in NY. i guarantee that thing wont go around corners wont clean full gutters and that i could clean my gutters in a third of the time. id rather spend my $ on a gutter cleaner any day of the week.
Make it work then sell it with a long pole so you don't need a ladder. It can have a wire and loop at the top, so the pole can hook it to retrieve it. Put a video camera at the front so I can see what it is doing. Then sell one to every home owner!
Ok I bought it. I own a gutter cleaning business. Out of 15 gutters on different houses it only fit 2. Gutters were too small or the cross bars were too low.
It must be supervised! And you can't use it from the ground. It's just too likely to get stuck.
Basically in every situation I've could've used it, it was faster or easier to use a scoop.
Oh and the first day I got it, I spent 2 hours trying to make it clean a job that would take 20min otherwise.
He keeps calling it a robot. I don't think he knows what the word "robot" means. This is a radio controlled gutter cleaner. There is no autonomy here.
MY HEART GOES OUT TO HIM FOR THIS IDEA....I MIGHT JUST HAVE AN UPGRADE TO IT!.....SOME UNIT LIKE THAT THAT REMAINS IN THE CENTER OF THE GUTTER LENGTH. DUAL IMPELLERS...LEFT & RIGHT. LITHIUM POLY BATTERIES CHARGED WITH A SOLAR CELL...MOUNTED ON THE CLEANER...JUST CHARGE THE CONTROLLER NOW, & AGAIN. NO LADDER NEEDED. CHECK OUT THIS CONCEPT..& PATENT IT. I LIVE AMONG 150 PINETREES...& THEY'RE A PAIN. GOTTA' CLEAN 4 TIMES A YEAR....& THE DEBRIS LOADS THE GUTTER WITH WET SLUDGE...INCLUDING ANT NESTS.
Hmmm, I can't help but be cynical and say it'd end up in storage in it's box in the attic, and being sold on eBay 30 years later as a mint condition collectable... or just another item that would end up in landfill and decompose slowly over hundreds of years. Besides, if you bought a gadget for every job that you did around the house you'd need a second house to put all the gadgets in.
This is the most ridiculous piece of junk I've ever come across. The limitations of this ' Heath Robinson' brain dead apparatus to effectively clean gutters are endless. Anyone thinking of investing in this contraption should first consider a brain scan as a priority!
You obviously haven't tried this. It works great. I live in Washington State where my high roof is 22 feet above the ground. Without an expensive rental lift, I cant even get to that gutter. With more than 200 feet per charge, I can get all my gutters in a weekend. This thing shot sludge, leaves, twigs, small pine tree sprouts and muck out of the gutter.
Dont post unless you know what you are talking about.
Well mate, one thing ,if you say you can't reach the gutter, how the hell do you get that useless contraption up there in the first place. Assuming you have, or hire an expensive rental lift, you must have to keep relocating it to reposition this gadget when you come to internal and external corners anyway. You must also have the most accomodating gutters imaginable to facilitate the uninterupting progress of this contraption. Good for you! 99% of gutters have some impedance that does'nt .
My roof starts at 2.4 meters from the ground to the gutter, runs 13.4 meters horizontally, and ends with a 7.25 meter down vertical distance to the ground. Placing the looj into the gutter at the accessable 2.4 meter height seemed logical and was later proven to be the smart end of the gutter to start with.
For you, it seems perfect, your gutter is tailored for it. I'm referring to the general concept of an efficient tool that will do all, or most gutters. This does not fit that category. The problem is, that the video purports' an easy solution to gutter cleaning. This remote controlled whirlygig apparatus does not, and would find it a ' mission impossible' for 99% of gutters. Most purchasers of this remote controlled disaster, would find it totally inadequate.
It doesnt seem practical :1) Tiles on roofs fall over the guttering, sometimes allowing a gap of 1 inch.2)Soil,stones,turf,plants etc it will cause a H&S risk,3) You have to climb up ladders to position the device.Again a H&S risk.
Solution:A service for as little as £40 .See my video .
Cool, I wish I can get one, that would be aussom, I hope the newer model cleans gutters better. Although, I would get 2 or even 3. because I want to make a project with the Loojs. And nice idea.
Awesome concept even if it has problems right now. I understand that it has to have some limitations, but those can usually be overcome with subsequent engineering. As a published inventor myself, I do appreciate original concepts. Imagine aging baby boomers that can't really consider moving a ladder around the house 4-5 feet at a time. This will be a great solution that enables them to do a task which they may otherwise have to hire out for. Keep up with the development. It's a winner.
I have tested the Looj under many conditions. Other than a few loose, dry leaves, the Looj does not remove anything. The smallest twig stops the auger and the looj spins. It is a complete waste of money. Moreover, customer support from iRobot is the worst I have every experiences. My advice: don't waste your money on the Looj.
But the looj has 2 o's that's gotta count for somfin rite ... (I'm being facetious, just cause something is spelled incorrectly does not make it cool)
I was just gonna say what you said, and I have never even seen let alone used this thing. Was it not obvious that it would completely do nothing against the slop that is usually in gutters?
I bet 1000000000000$ it doesnt work if your gutters are wet. Which is about 99% of the time.
