  • and the point is????

  • who cares if its slower than molases, that thing is fucking badass

  • マフラーから出てる煙は触媒が焼けてるからかな?

  • greeks...sometimes they make you go wow...bravo mr. Andreas.bravo....

  • that is awsome! dont let anyone tell you its a bad thing you ruined a rarre bike, i think its great.

  • Nice design, I like it a lot

  • Oh my.....very nice job, and I guess you need a lot of job to complete this monster motorbike...

Congrats on this project, are there any information somewhere online about this?

  • The noise sounds like the alternator clutch or it's bearings.

  • incredible piece of engineering

  • beatiful bikes very clever make twe engine done in v12 congratilation

  • This is art

  • It sounds like a mini aston martin!!! THAT IS THE BEST SOUNDING BIKE EVER. other than some noises that sound bad from the bike itself... sounds like somethings wrong....

  • This is really cool, and the amount of engineering is hugely appreciable. But oh those beautiful CBX's...Do you have at least 1 CBX? I don't know that the motorcycle gods would be too pleased unless some homage were paid. They are soooooo cool .I own a 1980 CB 900 (U.S. spec) and I have always loved and wanted a CBX for 2 up riding here in Colorado.

  • @dpottinger69 I have three other CBX's. Stock 82, retro-wire wheeeled 79 that I roadraced years ago, and a highly modified turbo 82 single sided swingarm X. I used to have four spare engines. I gave them to Andreas. He needed them more then I. You can find pic's of my other X's on my flickr.com picture account with the same name as my youtube account.

  • @cbxtacy Baddass. Ride Red!

  • He sounds South African. Could it be??

  • @330ibeemer He's a Greek-born and raised in South Africa and now calls La Jolla, CA home for most of the year and has Canadian citizenship.

  • You bastard. You've ruined two of a limited number of the best motorcycles ever.

  • @randyrhoadesRIP randyRIP it took a ot more then two engines from perfectly restored, 100 point CBX's to build the V12. Andreas probably destroyed atleast four more perfectly restored, 100 point CBX's just while doing the cam chain adjusters. And he only tries to destroy CGR (do you know what that acronym stands for) CBX's because of their value. It's interesting what one will do for the sake o fart. None of this is real, the video's are a hologram and the sound from a lambo run through a mixer

  • @cbxtacy

Candy Glory Red. A special color which is extremely difficult to reproduce or to touch up.

  • @randyrhoadesRIP Ruined is a relative term. That is the best part of a free market. If he had the money to buy 2 or more of the best motorcycles ever, then he is free to do what he wants with them. If you want to preserve one in pristine condition and then keep it in your garage in one of those inflatable bubble things, but don't hate on others who use theirs. A guy in my car club has a 1942 Ford street rod. Most of us want it to be stock, but it is his car and he can do what he wants with it.

  • 4 exhausts damn!!

  • @aCaptainJackSparrow

    Uhh no.. 12

  • It sounds like it must be fireing 2 cylinders at once, in fact it has to dosen't it, using the existing throws it'd ha, hmm, now I'm confused, I always have a hard time picturing stuff like this. It didn't sound like a V-12 to me but more like a 6. Maybe it's just the camera. You can smoke test the exhaust system to look for a small leak. I'd had one hole of a carb stand out and be noticable above the others and be bothersome sounding. Very nice piece of work, my hat is off.

  • @505197 throws are 72 degrees apart. Ideal for a V12 is 60. Andreas went with 72 because at 60 there was not enuogh room for the intakes or the cylinder base. He has two cbx ignitions on it and the firing order is (in degrees) 72,48,72,48,72,48,72,48,72,48,72,48. It's all brand new construction with lots of fresh header paint to cure. Also two of the cylinders had an overabundance of fuel. Those both contributed to the smoking. Neither is a problem now and it doesn't smoke anymore.

  • brilliant engineering, hope to see this beast running soon..good luck

  • suicide bike

  • That is a KLR650. Last year Andreas shipped the bike to Columbia South America and rode to South Argentina (where the paved road ends) and back to Columbia. There he sold the bike for return fare to the USA.

  • you guys are damn awesome......sounds lika Lambo...on two wheels..Hats off

    Is that a KLR,near by?

  • you guys are damn awesome......sounds lika Lambo...on two wheels..Hats off

  • very very sweet

  • Freaking crazy cool! Did you custom fabricate a crankshaft, or modify the existing one? Sounds friggin cool, like a Lamborgini!

  • @YakoffShmirnoff modified the existing one. Cut the throws wider to accomodate two rods that have been cut down, Added a second cam sprocket to the crank so he didn't have to use an extremely long cam chain. He has another crank and engine bits to convert the bike to gear drive cams. He just needs two VF1000R gear cassettes to finish the conversion.

  • a half ton bike

    but it's cool

    gratz

  • @kikabassos don't want to disappoint you but the bike weighs 590lbs and has a 57" wheel base.

  • Thanks for posting this - Andreas is an engineering genius.

  • WoW please make a Onboard Video ^^

  • Awesome creation. When you wreck it, what do you think that aluminum windshield is going to do to you?

All it will take is one old lady taking a left turn to find out.

Better put a plastic one on there.

  • @Rick258442 seeing as how safety is Andreas main consideration, he's also replacing the engine with a series 550 Briggs & Stratton at a later date.

  • @cbxtacy

    Lol. Classic.

  • Hilariously, brilliantly, technically mad. At exactly which point did you think, "I know, I'll stick two CBX engines together and see what happens. Utterly brilliant in every way.

  • @nikmcoleman I can't speak for Andreas but after building 3 Ferrari car engine powered bikes (2-Dino (one supercharged) and one 308) he wanted a V12 and the Ferrari car engine was just too wide.

  • How's that sound!! Wicked baby.

  • Guys...you are f*****g insane!!!! I love it!!!!

  • @10oooo01 I'm a retired Army Paratrooper. The most stressful thing I've ever done (by far) is ride the V12.

  • @cbxtacy Nice helmet.

  • @thebuckstopshere79 seeing as how Andreas is a responsible citizen, and realizing there are helmet laws where he resides, he shaved his head and tattoo'd a helmet on it. Now he wears a wig when not riding. Obviously he forgot to remove his wig when riding down the alley. And yes he tattoo'd a snell and dot sticker there also.

  • @cbxtacy Whats that thing like accelerating? The CBX was always my favourite bike when I was younger. I never did get one though. Maybe one day. Maybe an 18 cylinder?

  • @10oooo01 feels like a 600lb CBX with twice the power all the way from idle to redline. Immediate power the instance you grab a handful of throttle. Big problem is large displacement (2100cc's) with lack of flywheel effect. Crank was lightened to make room for 6 extra rods and when you let off the throttle the engine wants to idle. Very easy to slide the rear wheel. Needs a slipper clutch and Andreas is working on one.

  • @10oooo01 Andreas is currently working on an H16 engine. He's using 4 sets of Yamaha YZF600 engines. You can find photo's in my flickr.com photo account. Search for cbxtacy

  • Awesome bike too bad his gay friends had to ruin the sound by bitching and trying to pick apart an awesome machine.

  • @HankJeepin Gee Dude, you just called me and my friend (who was the Best Man at my wedding) "gay". That's really not too bright, is it.

  • What's the firing order?

  • @patrickplummer Andreas timed it like two separate inline 6 cyl engines. Ideal configuration is 60 but he went with 72 because at 60 there was not enough room for the intake manifolds or two base plates.

  • I'd hate to smash my face into that "windshield"

    awesome bike though

  • wat deep ever

  • i see a vf1000r tucked away in the corner , this man clearly had taste ;-)

  • Sweet bike!!! I think a 12-into-1 would have sounded better, but surely impractical to build.

I also like that VF1000R in the background under the tarp. Loved those bikes.

  • Does it go around corners?

  • this bike woulda been the shit when they were younger, lookout v12 goldwing from me in 15-20 years

  • Sweet ride. Any chance of you mating the new BMW six so you have even liquid cooling and a smaller more powerful package

  • Oh Yeah, that's the CBX sound alright.

I still have mine. Our whole crew had them new, turbo as well.

There's a good reason to go with a CAFE seat.

    You can't stay on otherwise.

  • I bet that motor revs up so fast.

  • the sound, maybe exaust pulse, clutch, replace with barnet clutch

  • wow,your my new heroe,beautiful,its machine art.

  • damm shes beautiful whats the engine capacity 2 Litres???

  • damm shes beautiful

  • OH WOW! Now I've seen it all!!!! AMAZING!!

  • super manifique bravo

  • What an amzing machine. Well done!

  • Haven't read all the comments to check if this has been answered already, but a decent cooling airflow to the front bank of cylinders is a likely problem.

I gotta say, the sound isn't anywhere near as good as I'd expected. Maybe better doing a V8 (two 4 cyl. engines), although that depends upon achieving the optimum V8 firing order. A good V8 sound is music to the ears.

  • HOLY FUCK!

  • perfect

  • Very nice! Good job, wauw!

  • Nice!

  • I met Andreas at a friend's place and watched him methodicly work on the 8 cylinder bike to get it running after almost two years of storage. Interesting guy that knows his stuff.

  • I would like to see these vs Boss Hoss :)

  • very nice engineering , To be honest i couldnt hear anything wrong with it . my only problem is that with the engineering in it , The clocks and fairing could have been a little bit better . The other is the length of the front exhausts compared to the rear facing ones. But having said that ignore your mate it sounds great and looks good too.

  • To continue, I was somehow forgiven and treated to an exibition of his riding skills during a race up Mount Seymour, wherein he not only waxed me but probably wasn't even aware that we were racing. Anyways George, greetings from Peter, it's wonderful to see you again after all these years even if only on YouTube, and especially nice to see your extraordinary skills not only intact but evolved and thriving.

  • I became aquainted with "George The Greek" back when he was wrenching at Superformance Motorcycles in 1976. I had just purchased my first four-stroke from the shop-a 1973 Commando Roadster with 5000 miles on the clock. George was riding a Suzuki RE5 which he was planning on converting into a twin-rotor Wankel, and not only was he good enough to loan me tools he actually let me ride his bike- a favor I returned by dropping it a gas station and bending the brake lever.

  • usually i dont like v12 sounds, but this one.... woohoo and just congrats for that truly incredible build

  • Is this going to be for sale???

  • two cbx engines?

  • Could you please post videos of you doing stunts and wheelies on this bike.

    Thanks

  • @jfb17042

Why would he bother with a carnival show when at 2:22, any CBX owner knows that the real stunt is in the music coming from the 12 cyliners of two CBX engines?

  • I've mounted a video camera facing forward on my wifes beemer with good results and on my 82 CBX facing rearward with good results. The next video (s) I post here will be the V12 chasing an 82 CBX or being chased by a beemer R1200R. Should I do the videos this weekend or do yardwork?

  • Hey cbxtacy- found this thread google searching Fred Robbins.... I met Fred Robbins the other day here in Winston- hell of a cool guy. Definately one of those metal manipulating wizards; his home shop was like a machinest's wet dream. Sounds like he hasn't changed over the years/ still wants to go as fast as humanly possible.....He showed me a 155" v-twin (that he made his own cases for!) with a blower sitting in a 'busa frame he was working on. Evil genious!!!

  • To bad the convo was cut short, was very intresting to hear what they had to say.

    Awesome looking machine.

  • the engine was basically a new engine. After running a bit the noises and smoking all stopped.

  • @cbxtacy i thought it was maybe a noisy cam chain or a clutch....i had a CB450K that had a clutch that sounded just like that and a CB400SS that had a similar noise coming from the cams. good to see it went away.

  • Absolutely amazing!!!! Thanks for sharing this masterpiece!

  • So awesome!

And the job of making it look good is even more impressive!

  • Thanks Paul,

That was magnificent! I wish there were some performance specifications included.

I hope I can live long enough to see a production V-12 motorcycle!

    Ross. 985-536-2352

  • kick ass

  • This is just an amazing project, it's hard to belive there's such skilled people around. Love it......

  • Mad max jajajaja

  • Had a 900 and an 1100 bol d or that had the same clutch death rattle.Awesome engineering, well done.

  • I had half of one of these, a 6cyl CBX(B).. it went .. "..rather well.." .. I can only imagine what this could be capable of!!

    very nice customisation, 5stars!

  • its custom made engine.

    nice job

  • Truly awesome!!

  • очень хороший и мощьный мотоцикл молодцы!

  • wow great!

  • The smoke is coming from the protective oil inside the pipes burning off. The bike is running fantastic. Let's all wish George mucho gusto on his journey throughout S.America! I promise to make a better video of his V12 bike when he returns.

  • Comment removed

  • So why is it smoking:(

  • Kaiei ladi ? Giati vgazei toso kapno ?

  • It looks like it would be simple to fix the 2 rotating assembles together with V shaped connecting rods, keep stock cams on both heads with slightly offset timings.

  • Pretty awesome...I have owned 2 '79 CBXs love them..

  • If these were for sale I would literally pay any price for one.

  • out of curiosity, how much?

  • One of the most amazing things I have ever seen!

  • nice job on the hologram. i don't like a cbx. but if you want to impress me and everyone else, show how you put the hologram of the engine together, because that impressed me.

  • OHMYGOD!!!!!!!!!!onemark!!! the stock CBX is STILL heralded as an ENGINERRING MARVEL. And you have a man who over 15 years has GRAFTED 2 of them together IN HIS FFFING GARAGE????.and made a V-12??????. Im nauseated at your lack of respect and obvious Ignorance and poor taste,onemark.....and as a CBX owner i can tell you the stock 79 is none of those things you decribe it to be ...BUT this is AMERICA and u are entitled to your opinion, misguided as it may be............

  • 8 years, Mark, 8 years. 15 years ago Andreas will still working on his Ferrari Dino (with blower (he built the blower)) powered bike.

  • markdam- honda knew the cbx was a flop and thats why production was short lived. i can also state my brothers friends had purchased them new and shortly after traded them in, one even dropped money in after market parts. i ridden a couple of them and the only nice thing i can say, they run smooth. i still state i'm more interested in the machining of this than the bike itself. timing, cam, crank spacing of the rods ect. that is impressive, he needs to do a video on how it was done.

  • onemarktwoyou = cbx1000 was one of the biggest pieces of junk that came out of 1979?

I totally disagree. I've been riding bikes for 40 years - to each their own I guess.

  • At 1:42 why does it look like he is rolling he's wrist forward to open throttle.

Must be cause he's South African :))

  • excellent work!

    ΜΠΡΑΒΟ ΚΑΙ ΣΤΑ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ!!!!

  • The engine rattle does not sound healthy, besides the bike is burning too much oil.

  • Maybe, but Andreas claimed that it's the color from the brand new exhausts

  • I ride my 79 CBX every chance I get...its the smoothest runnning bike I've ever ridden PERIOD. I also think its one of the best looking. Parked next to a KZ or GS those bikes just get lost in the background...Sorry.

  • I rode one back in 80 or 81 and remember that I was not impressed.

  • Beautiful bike.

  • You've obviously never ridden one because the power delivery was like nothing on this planet. It felt like an electric motor and sounded like a dream.

  • yes i have, not a v12 version. they handle very poorly, even compared to the same years. response time is low but, power isn't strong. kz and gs models are faster and handle alot better. i have never ridden a cbx on a long trip, so i can't comment on the comfort, i assume it is like any other street bike after 2-3 hours, still thats a goldwing area. goldwing and the cbx to me feel alot alike in corners. but i was not at all impressed by the cbx, nor was my brothers 2 friends which had them.

  • 3 words: OH MY GOD!!!

That thing is awesome!!! I clicked on this video thinking it was a typo... V12 CBX, pfft, yea right... Video loaded and my jaw just dropped!

Only thing that disappointed me was the lack of a 12 into 12 exhaust. Get right on that will you! ;) hahaha just kidding, that thing is incredible, awesome work! I would love to see a video on the making of the bike, especially the engine work! That would be cool! Keep the video's coming!

  • I have a 6 into 6 I've put on one of my X's occasionally. It gives it a sound like nothing else. Kind of a staccato like a top fueler. You're right, Motorhead, a 12 into 12 would give a sound unique (and addictive). I've discussed it with Andreas before and we both laughed (but there was a glint in his eyes).

  • Haha, I have no doubt that from what you describe of Andreas, if anyone could do it he could! ;)

And yes, a 6-6 is awesome on a CBX. My dad had a CBX years and years ago which he sold to a friend. Well soon after I posted my first comment here, that friend decided he wanted to sell his CBX, as its not run in over 10 years. So my dads going to buy it back. Its got the stock 6-2 on it now, there's a new 6-1 waiting for it in a box, and a new PipeMasters 6-6 is currently being looked into!

  • welcome to the addiction. There's a room in the west wing at the Betty Ford Clinic waiting for me

  • Haha yea, my dad is one of the most motorcycle addicted people I've ever met, short of Mr. Barber of the Barber motorsports museum! :P Dad's even got two of his bikes in that museum! We've both always loved CBX's, but right now our current motorcycle collection stands in around 24 bikes. We kinda figured we didn't need anymore. Until this CBX came up for sale. And until the new VFR1200 came out. Yea, we pretty much just decided you can never have enough motorcycles! :P

  • I have one in the Barber Museum. Last time I was there they were still working on it.

  • Oh thats cool, is it a CBX you've got there or something else? The bikes we've got in there aren't even streetbikes, there's a 1986 Honda Trail 110 that my grandpa purchased new, and its got less than 250 miles on it. The only un-origional part on it is the fuel line. The second bike is a 1999 Honda Z50, which was the last one my dad could find for sale locally after Honda announced they were stopping production. Its never even had gas in the tank, let alone started! :)

  • A Chevy V8 drag bike built in Winston Salem, NC a while back. I got it from the builder who bracket raced it and after working on it for a while I decided it needed professionals to finish it. It was getting expen$ive and scary.

  • Oh wow! I live in High-Point NC, which is only a few minutes away! And my dad used to live in Winston during his teenage years! But I bet that bike is crazy!!

  • Fred Robbins built it, his brother still has a salvage yard around there. The bike was called "The Eliminator" engine was sideways (like it should be) with a centrifical clutch. Rear wheel was 12" (had a 14 also) wide with a big drag slick on it.

  • This is realy something. Can you write some specificatons ( hp, max rpm,weight,accelaration,...), did you have you make a brand new engine housing, nce polished Al masks

  • I can't stop watching... this is a piece of work,,,,,

I have had 2 cbx's and now I have to hit the lottery so I can get one of these,, hats of to you guys!

great job!!,, and please post more vids.. can't get enough!!!

  • somebody finally built my dream bike!

  • Sounds like a 6 in line because the cylinders work in mirror mode? Congratulations ! I would like to see the crankshaft, must be a master piece.

  • Two wheels Maserati MC12...eheh ehy man compliments for that artwork

  • That thing definitely deserve a segment in the Jay Leno's Garage web site. Awesome piece of engineering !

  • COOL! Sounds great. How do you keep the oil out of those front laid down jugs? Quite a project! thanks for the vid

  • front cyl's are inclined up from the crank at 10 degrees and gravity is used to return the oil. The engine has stopped smoking and it's seen 10,000 rpm. Heat is a problem. running down the road it's okay but when stopped the bike just cooks. Andreas is now installing insulation under the tank to keep the gas cool, on the covers around the exhaust, and wrapping the pipes.

  • uns 400 pega =D

  • Pure motorcycle sex! I love the CBX1000 and you've slapped 2 engines together. The fact it's actually been done properly and not just 2 engines bolted onto 1 bike impresses the hell out of me. Excellent job.

  • You know I usually don't really care for "modern" looking bikes but this one is a very large exception. I'm really impressed with how smooth it runs and goes.

It's funny,no matter what the displacement a V12 always sounds like a V12. This one reminds me of a Lamborghini Countach V12. Beautiful bike,a really testament to engineering! =)

  • Im a bit confused because the sites are probably giving misleading information, but did you mate two CBX inlines together or is that a 12cyl engine out of something?

  • Sometimes my humor gets the best of me. Last saturday I rode my '82 CBX 250 miles. That's more then the V12 will get in the next year. There are not many common parts between the two bikes in the engine that have not been extensively modified to create the V12. Lot's of things are new, pistons, rings, valve job etc. New exhaust. Burning paint, oil, and running a little rich. Cylinders laying down that used to be upright. Oiling system/cam chain tensioners highly modified. It started first try.

  • thats not even right man.... Cool though.

  • Are you sure if that oil burned .....?

  • Good Job .....wonderful bike

but what's the smoke out of exhaust !

  • -And it revs happily...............

  • Absolute props to that monument to your love of bikes. A thing of beauty and raw power. Andreas, you should come to Portland and visit Michael Csyzs. Although he might not want to listen to you, you could give him some great nuggets of wisdom in his quest to build a new American superbike.

  • and speaking of nuggets of wisdom, in the late 60's Andreas built a 4 cyl race bike utilizing a Honda car engine, two CR72/77 cylinder heads on the car engine, used either a Matchless or Norton frame (I don't remember), and raced it. I have pic's of it infront of Agostini, Vesco, Cooper, Duhamel etc. He raced from 58 through 74. Bronze Replica from IOM and Canadian Nat ional Champion. He was known as George The Greek.

  • amazing

did you have to expand the crankshaft journals to accept two sets of con rods?

    good job

  • the journals were machined to make them wider and the rods were cut down.

  • success in life is measured by the rediculous grid on one face.

Sir,you got one hell of a grid.

    i salute you sir.

  • Thank you. Andreas is the person responsible for the whole bike. He designed & built it. I used to have 4 spare CBX engines but they've been dismantled for this project. Andreas raced GP starting in '58, Bronze Replica from IOM in '65 I believe and was a Canadian Champion in the late 60/early70's. He was known as George the Greek.

  • This is by far one of the most amazing things I have ever seen, it has a sound similar to a Lamborghini or some other exotic. I love the bare metal look and the exhaust set up is unreal.

My hat is off to you guys, great work.

    -Byron

  • Amazing :D

  • The video titled "amazing" is the first time the bike ran. Ever. You can see the amazement in Andreas' face. It started easier then my stock 82 CBX. It weighs the same as an early CBX (even with all the extra engine) and has a 57" wheelbase. Andreas is 68 years old and spent 1/10th of his life building it. To me what's amazing is the light weight, suspension geometry, and the ease with which it started.

  • you guys are too crazy. I was more amazed at what you guys were talking about then the bike that was running. Dont get me wrong, that bike is really awesome.
