  • at 0:03 it turns into a dick...

  • To anyone who has golly...

Go to 'set rules' and put in B1/S1 and prepare to have an epileptic attack

  • A good program is Golly

  • Respond to this video... looks like a universe

  • :O Where did you get the game from ?

    It looks cool...

  • I think this program is called winlife32. Its free

  • I love cellular automata. I don't tell anyone, though.

I've developed a lot of stuff. I use Golly program.

  • There's lots of them. Google the term 3dca, i think the second link you pull up goes to my page where i have a list of 3D cellular automata apps for the PC.. Nice to see people are still interested in CA enough to post a video..

  • Where do i get the best ver of this game. The one i downloaded is just like the small one.

  • Try winlife32 its free.

  • @budhasac

    Golly is the best one

  • How many steps before it stabilized? How big did it get?

  • I think it went to generation 3355, and hovered around 750-950 at its peak. I have not used the program in a while

  • It actually went until 5576 generations.

    Cellular automata are really cool.

  • hell yeah they are

  • lol

  • what the hell just happened?

  • What you saw was a pattern changing based on the current step. Sort of like when you drop a stone in a pond the ripples expand alot and then disappear as time goes on.

  • with a game like this, who needs spore?

    XD

  • Lawl.

  • Was that the Pi Heptamino?

  • It might be, I found it out just by random, but it was almost certainly discoverd before me. (also I am mathdemos, werelion2367 is my other account)

  • Cool man. :)

other's are named things like rakes, rays, gliders (which are the floating fragments you see moving diagonal across the screen in your video.. down toward the sides)...

  • Yeah i remember writing a conway's game of life program long ago, and I started searching for patterns to use in it that were discovered. You would be amazed at what people have done with it :O

I'll have to upload a video of my own if I find those pattern files again. one of them is a working turing machine simulated inside of the life universe.

  • a really cool thing I found out is that you can actually make computers with Conway's Game of Life

  • very cool
