  • I'm sorry Mark Whalberg's performance was garbage. No where near oscar caliber. It's a joke that he was even nominated compared to the performances of the other nominees.

  • =} little miss sunshine

  • mark wahlberg couldn't act his way out of a paper bag

  • sorry eddie

  • Jackie Earle Haley's performance in Little Children was amazing and heart breaking. What a comeback. IMO the ONLY person who deserved the oscar.

  • IMO Eddie lost b/c if he'd won the winners would be Whitaker, Mirren, Murphy, and Hudson which means the brown skin would've been the majority so they gave it to Arkin to even out the skin color which is total fucking bullshit

  • @QUHectic212 what's bullshit is that you believe that

  • @1bardh1 amen!

  • @QUHectic212 no, Eddie lost because he made Norbit and scared the Oscar voters

  • Arkin was great - but really, his part wasn't that hard to play..

  • it only took them 40 years to give him an oscar since his first nomination.

  • You can see Murphy think "Fuckin' NORBIT - why didnt they hold the release back for a few weeks".

  • i didnt know sam maislin was an actor

  • and the oscar goes to... sam maislin, sometimes good poeple make mistakes

  • he was good but i thought eddie murphy had this won

  • Great upset.....horrible speech. I love the zoom shot of the Oscar on the floor as he studiously reads off his piece of paper.

  • Great upset.....horrible speech. I love the zoom shot of the Oscar on the floor as he studiously reads off his piece of paper.

  • This motherfucker should not have won. Eddie Murphy or Mark Walhberg should have gotten this

  • Guy Pearce in Factory Girl was alot better.

  • @mranity or Djimon Hounsou

  • First he isn't supposed to win and then he IMMEDIATELY disrespects it by putting it on the floor! That always bugged me a little bit, probably because I was still in shock. Weird though that there's no podium, I don't hold Arkin accountable for this, it just didn't help!

  • I didn't know pedofiles had tenderness...(WTF?!!!)

  • mark wahlberg shoud've won

  • Hey!! Mark wahlberg should have won!!!!! he was so hot so cute in the departed!!!!!!!!!

  • boo eddie murphy gives the perfomance of his carrer in a much better movie and arkin gives an ok performace in an ok movie and he gets the oscar? what were they thinking? murphy was robbed. wahlbergs performace was better than arkins too.

  • @movieman104 Little Miss Sunshine is an excellent movie and Arkin had a great, emotional performance.

  • Hey oscars, could you please upload Little Miss Sunshine winning best original screenplay?

  • Wow, all the other nominees blew Alan out of the water.

  • Little miss sunshine is a masterpiece! It has comedy and drama in a perfect balance that few movies really have. And Alan Arkin was just amazing as that dirty-mouth grandpa...he was the spirit of that movie and this was completely deserved!

  • I loved Arkin in LMS, but I'm 99% sure he won because his character died in the movie.

  • I agree the Arkin's performance was not the best of the five nominated... this Oscar was in a competition category but the Prize had a Honorary character

  • Absolutely deserved. Eddie Murphy was great, but Arkin blew everything out of the water.

  • Little miss sunshine was very nice movie, but c'mon oscar for Alan Arkin??!! Are you kidding me? Overrated.

  • Djimon Honsou was absolutely brilliant in Blood Diamond. Nothing short of perfect.

  • My Top 2 Alan Arkin #1 Mark Whalberg 2

  • and i love that background music..

its an ok win , but i really feel that they give Arkin this award just to make up for not giving him oscars for his other previous works, more like a career award this one. But he's till an awesome actor.Much respect for him.

i wonder what could happen if jack nicholson was nominated. I was pissed when he lost to murphy at the golden globe that year.

  • Jackie Earl Haley should've won that year.

  • mark wahlberg should have won :)

  • @ruubbyy1 course not

  • @ruubbyy1 couldnt agree more, hope he bags one soon!

  • Look at that bitch Beyonce in the front row not clapping because Eddie Murphy didn't win.

  • NEVER DO YOU PUT THE OSCAR ON THE FLOOR, HUGE MISTAKE

  • its not sposed to be a popularity contest, yet we all know thats what the oscars have become, its not about talent. eddie murphy as much as i dislike him deserved to win, simple as that, i dont like him but would of voted for him, thats what the awards for. the oscars have destroyed there brand, once upon a time the golden globes were seen as a joke, theyve become more respected while oscar has dropped, the baftas is a much better tho is biased towards british actors. when crash won, the oscars

  • That was Djimon Hounsou's Oscar! He was robbed. :-(

  • I love that they put the bald actors in a row and Mark Wahlberg is just by himself basking with his hair.

  • The worst supporting actor winner ever!

  • those oscars are taller than i thought they were

  • "IT'S ALWAYS THE FUCKING CHICKEN!!!"

  • This is one of those wins that is very stupid and not making any sense at all, and was only because of politics. The same thing happened with Tommy Lee Jones winning his truly undeserved Oscar for ther Fugitive. Don't get me wrong, Little Miss Sunshine is one of my al time favorite comedies and Alan and Abby were superb, but all the other nominees (Even Wahlberg) blew Alan out of the water with their far superior performances. This felt like the 1993 Oscars with best Supporting Actor.

  • I thought Alan was okay in Little Miss Sunshine, but wasn't a best supporting actor performance. To be honest, I didn't understand the hype around Eddie Murphy. He was basically doing a James Brown impression in Dreamgirls. The real compeition, in my opinion, was between Haley and Dimon Honsu (don't know how to spell his name). These two actors were magnificent in their roles.

  • Loved Little Miss Sunshine.

  • fuck a lot of women, kid. not just one woman...a lot of women!

  • He should have won an Oscar for Wait Until Dark

  • Rachel Weisz is ATTRACTIVE.

  • Yeah, I can't believe he won for this role. Not that he was bad in it, but he was only in the film for like 11 minutes. I personally think that every other actor gave better performances in their roles, specifically Wahlberg, Haley and Eddie Murphy. I was quite upset to see them all lose to Arkin, but I feel like it was the Academy's way of awarding him since he may never get nominated again in his lifetime. Pity.

  • Jackie Earle Haley were amazing in little children

  • this is the career oscar

  • Before the oscars, Eddie Murphy won a Golden Globe and SAG awards, so i think he believed won the Oscar this night.

  • wtf is this win lol

  • great role and great movie. arkin was letter perfect and totally deserving.

  • This should have been Arkin's third Oscar. Should have won in 1967 for his non nominated role in WAIT UNTIL DARk and in 1968 for THE HEART IS A LONELY HUNTER.

  • Eddie should have won

  • The Oscar should have went to Djimon Honsou or Jackie Earle Haley. There was nothing sophisticated about Alan Arkin's performance what so ever. They gave it to him because he is a veteran.

  • why didnt eddie murphy win?

  • I dont even understand why Arkin was nominated and won like every award around him that season... Was his performance that amazing and award-worthy? Was the character that strong a character to deserve all this attention? I just don't get it.

  • @fountainchain126 We probably didn't watch the same movie let alone the same performance !

  • @fountainchain126,

I'm a little annoyed as well. Don't get me wrong, I adore Little Miss Sunshine, but Alan's performance was nowhere near Oscar Worthy.Djimon Hounsou, Mark Wahlberg, Eddie Murphy and Jackie Earle Haley were robbed. This was just like the Best Supporting Actor @ the 1993 Oscars. So many talented Actors were nominated (DiCaprio, Fiennes, Malkovich), yet won by a guy who was bland as hell in that movie and did nothing worthy of it, Tommy Lee Jones of The Fugitive. Pathetic.

  • I LOVE Little Miss SUUnshine. Hillarious!

  • Wow, all nominees are bald! No offence.

  • @Daviysoh is Mark Whalberg bald?!

  • Matt Damon should have been nominated for The Departed instead of Mark Whalberg

  • @rps121 it was a principal role, not supporting. If not Whalberg, I would nominate instead Jack Nicholson or Martin Sheen. Damon was... annoying. Maybe it was because of his role? I don't know but he did not deserve.

  • Djimon Hounsou in Blood Diamond was by far my favorite (w/Jackie Earle Haley a close 2nd). The scene where he confronts his son who is tinkering on a devastating act of patricide blew me away.

  • Hard to believe this is where Eddie Murphys downfall began. He had to make Norbit.

  • @MCEProd22 Yeah. Good thing they didn't waste the Oscar on Murphy and instead gave it to the most deserving nominee who's not stupid enough to do very shitty movies immediately after a kind of good movie that got him all sorts of awards.

  • @moviemaniac14 so vwhat you are sayin is ..you are othet dummies are judging eddie on another film istead of the one he got nominated vfor?? HOW FUCKIN RETARDED IS THAT??

  • @xkaliber72 No I'm saying it's kind of interesting that since Eddie's loss, he's been doing shitty movies ever since. Alan Arkin on the other hand just happened to still do great movies after his win. It just seems like Eddie Murphy gave up after his loss. Also I think they actually gave it to the better performer as well. It's just a coincidence that Murphy's career just happened to go down right after his loss. So it just seems like in the end, it would've seemed like a waste if he had won.

  • Djimon Hounsou was PURE ROBBED, he blow me away with his brilliant performance in "Blood Diamond",he's for sure the best african-american actor in Hollywood. I rank the nominees like this: 1. Djimon Hounsou, 2.Jackie Earle Haley, 3.Eddie Murphy, 4.Alan Arkin, 5.Mark Whalberg. as much as i respect Alan Arkin, a veteran actor he wasn't no way better than Hounsou, about Whalberg why he was even got a nomination is beyond me, he was what? 10 minutes screentime? arguing and starting fights?

  • @nunotraumas i totally agree with you. these oscars, they are projected internationally as the best platform to recognise america's talent and also the international talent, and what they mostly come up with is their studio films in mind and their monetary benefits, purely judging commercial basis. at least for once, they should acknowledge the talent in film making for the sake of it only.

  • Murphy should have won that, won everyone else except the big one.

  • @Somnion009 Alan Arkin did win the BAFTA, though.

  • Lol @ Beyoncé not clapping.

  • @loghen01 may be she wasnted murphy to win, but it was not courteous from her not to clap.

  • Eddie Murphy would have won had he not made Norbit.

  • i voted for eddie murphy or mark wahlberg. i forgot who i voted 4. i think mark whalberg should had got an oscar nomination for the fighter

  • @Bartsudz99 Technically, Wahlberg did get a nomination, but not as an actor.

  • @Bartsudz99 exactly, he should have been nominated for the fighter, he embodied that character so well. but here in this nomination, he should have not even been there at the first place.

  • @Bartsudz99 really? there ae 5 nominees, there were space for him, because all the nomines this year was great, Mark didnt deverved it

  • mark wahlberg should have won

  • Marky Mark!!!

  • I enjoyed all of the nominees performances, however, Jackie Earle Haley's performance in "Little Children" was chilling, disturbing, emotional, and memorable. My Best Supporting Actor in the field.

  • he was damn good in wait until dark

  • he made a cute pair with abigail breslin

  • @alsiony,

Great chemistry between those two. She's adorable.

  • the biggest suprising win i can remember

  • Dynamite category of actors!!!

  • @MrMoviebuff5000 Definitely. I think any one could have won, despite Murphy being the prohibitive favorite. And I think Eddie Murphy could have won if he did some different films BEFORE Norbit. If he had never done either Nutty Professor movie or Pluto Nash, who knows how he could have turned out.

  • @MrMoviebuff5000 no doubt

  • eddie murphy robbed.... bigtime

  • @thelousyllama Murphy was so pissed that he left after he lost. I find that terribly rude.

  • @KellyGreen5555 it was rude, it showed he was a bad sport, but i did feel sorry for him, he had months of hype saying he was deffo going to win and to have it won by arkin, thats a kick in the teeth ,

  • "Alan Arkin says he almost didn't get the part because the directors felt he was too virile. He claims it was the most flattering rejection he ever got."

  • should've gone to eddie murphy

  • 0:37 haha

  • lol @ Abrigail 2:45

  • Hehe....he just puts the Oscar on the floor like it´s nothing. :-) Great actor.

  • This was Haley's Oscar. Arkin wasn't even the best supporting actor in his film.

  • too bad Eddie Murphy did not win, but I am also glad Alan Arkin won. However, Steve Carell should at least be nominated!!

  • He definitely deserved it.

  • thank you Oscars for posting this vid :))
