PLEASE NOTE: there is an updated version of this tutorial for WordPress 2.7 on the mcbuzzvideo channel. See the video titled "WordPress Tutorial - How to Upload & Link to a PDF, Microsoft Word doc, or other doc"
There seems to be some sort of bug in WordPress 2.7.1 and these methods will not work. If anyone can correct me or show how to make a link to and uploaded pdf, in either a "Page" or a static page, please show us. Thanks
This tutorial uses WP version 2.3. You probably have 2.7. But the steps are basically the same. Open a page or post (new or existing). Find the Upload / Insert buttons across the top of the editing window. Roll over these buttons to find the one that says "Add Media" (2nd button from the right). Click on that button and follow instructions in the dialog box to upload your file. Once you upload, you can copy the Link URL for the document or click "Insert into Post". Be sure to click Save Changes.
I inherited a WordPress template which is different to the one here in this video. Below the post editing I dont get the "Upload" tab below, but rather different sections under an ADVANCED OPTIONS title, such as "CUSTOM FIELDS", "COMMENTS AND PINGS", "PASSWORD PROTECT THIS PAGE", "PAGE TEMPLATE", and "PAGE AUTHOR". No "Upload" option around. How can I upload a file like this?
