  • I wish I was one of these kids. My life would have been better .....

  • Im half Japanese and proud of it. This is our culture.

  • Of all the things I've watch on youtube, this video does not deserve any amount of dislikes.

This stuff here is pure gold and heart-warming to the core.

  • How can 5 people dislike this video?

  • @tra5470 5 people are unhappy

  • Who was cutting onions when tsubasa's mother came to thank them? I'M ONTO YOU!

  • HAPPY YEAR = (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

  • the Japanese mr rogers......

  • Tall order, his father's DEAD!

  • My god, I mean there's no mention of god or jesus christ, no bullshit lies. Brings me to tears!

  • This has me in tears. Last month I lost both of my siblings and the way all of the kids got together to help cheer that boy up reminded me of all the people that are helping my mother and I through this difficult time.

  • good god i can't stop crying hahaha

this is so beautiful and just...every class in every school should be like this

a second family that CARES about you as a person

  • thank.you.. i cant say nothing more

  • THESE EMOTIONS FROM 10YR OLDS IS JUST TOOOOO POWERFUL. i cant belive we idiots let our children sit in front of the box all day. WHEN do we giv em a chance to take it all out??? We have no time for them ... its our fault

  • its beautiful, but here in Canada they don't do it. IT seem they don't give children a chance to grow. things like building a bamboo raft would go against safety regulation, its more accurate to say because of rules/law it over protective? As well the idea of not trusting children enough to hold responsiblity, then its complain that the parent should be responsible.I say no one instantly become a parent, its a long journey!

  • This the the purpose of the old... to impart wisdom on the young,

  • is everyone crying like me and the two guys with the most rated comments? because I can't stop anymore.

  • @LeBaronNoir100 Nah, I am too :)

  • WOW I love their bond, its soo amazing.

  • wow!

i wish everyone could watch this and learn from it!

    beautiful

  • A whole new level of all for one and one for all

  • Yo's gonna be a heartbreaker :)

  • @ersatonoma looks like you could use a lesson from this teacher. Hating people is exactly what this video is supposed to teach you NOT to do. All of my elementary school teachers were Jews and they were some of the nicest, most wonderful people I've ever met. Infinitely better people than you, at least. Take your hatred elsewhere

  • Pretty sure he inspired me to be a teacher/

  • We can learn so much from these children. They are wonderful and compassionate human beings.

  • I'm a teacher, and I have a teaching manner very similar to this style. However, this video helped me clarify even further the underlying purpose of schooling. Since watching this, I have made sure that my class explicitly know that they come to school to be happy, to be socially skilled, and to empower themselves for their sake and for everyone's future. If I'm half as effective as Mr. Kanamori in my work, then my time has not been wasted!

  • Japan's future is in good hands. Teachers here in the U.S could learn a thing or two from this man and his students. All of them will grow up to be wonderful, caring people. It's not just the facts that are important in learning.

  • i cant believe that 5 people disliked this

  • ever since i was 6 japan has been my favorite country

  • I dont want to cry because its hard to let myself do that if i see these kids taking on tougher challenges and stil pulling through with it....but then again I guess the point of the movie is to admit your vulnerabilities and learn to live with them.

  • oh my, these children are adorable. I cried my eyes out.

  • I love watching these documentaries, I just hate that they make me cry so much, lol

  • yes i agree this story is very sad, but i still dont know y some kids in my school laugh at this (i dont)

  • Aw this is beautiful aw.

  • They can speak and comfort each other better than me...

  • why is everyone dying there...

  • wisdom before their years =) they learnt from the best.

  • I'm not crying, I'm just sweating from my eyes...(TT^TT)

  • Mr Reporter. First of all , there's no calligraphy here. It's just pen-stroke and the letters are not PAINS- TAKINGLY NEAT.

They were written by children so. the pen manship in these letters are of course child-esque. These chidlren are just starting out , so of course there are many mistakes.

But don't stand there with a blind eye and assume, WOW the writing is amazing.

    It's not. It's at a child's level.

    ..

  • @HUTINAK i'm sure he meant painstakingly neat [for 10 yrs olds].... chill out hahaha

  • The man only was 38 and died suddenly in his slepp eeeEEEHHH!!

  • Those letters weren't from 10 year olds...they were from very wise adults! :,)

  • great documentary indeed. theres a lot of crying in this class but at the same time the lessons learned are so powerful and significant to real life.

when i think back... i was similar to yuto's behavior. disruptive, hyper, even a bully in a way. but none of my teachers were ever like this one.. instead of confronting problems in classes i was sent to the principals office or counsellor in private. this method really seems to help everyone at the same time and it directly solves problems

  • So heartbreaking, but so beautiful at the same time,...

  • what are u like 11? c'mon it's all fake

  • Silly as it sounds, but.. Is this real? This just seems so unbelievable. Are they just doing their best before the camera, or is it everyday's work?

  • he shows and encourages conpassion all my life only got it from my mom and dad..if only there were more like this man

  • these kids are ridiculously deep for ten year olds...

  • Oh my god, I'm a waterfall right now.

  • I'm a 20 year old male with roots from Serbia and living in Sweden, and I'm fucking crying. Laugh at me all you want, I wish I had what these kids had when I was a kid. Someone to ask me how I was, to think about me and wanting to make me happy, someone who cares about me. Didn't have to be a whole class, just one person and I'd be the wealthiest idiot on the planet. These kids have 2 families. I'm so envious of them. There's not a single day that passes that I don't wish I was Japanease. Love

  • @FoggyFishburne Well said :)

  • I just hope that some of these children are inspired to become teachers and spread this wisdom to more and more generations. We need more teachers like this in schools everywhere.

  • good !!

  • Interesting. Death is certain, life is not. Time for Part 5.

  • cute... my mother died when I was 8 years old. I have no idea what happened to that time in my school but when I think about it I guess nobody of my classmates realy cared... hurts when I think about it...

  • Unfortunately a teacher anywhere in Europe or American would have likely gotten a lot of complains for what he told them from 1.59 to 2.41. There are good teachers everywhere, but most aren't, no matter where :(

  • This is so sad and im sick with a block nose but im crying and gaah i can't breathe ! poor mifuyu ! her dad died when she was 3 and so did mine and with all those dads dying i was like TT-TT!

  • I WILL NOT CRY.

    ..sniff sniff.. wipe!!

  • this documentry made me cry. I'm a teacher and i've never seen such a brilliant teacher and such wonderfull kids. Thank you for inspiring me.

  • Jesus is taking care of you tsubaso...

  • @stacier333 Allah is taking care of him, and the Prophet Mohammed!

  • i'm crying right now and i feel stupid for that ^^;

but maybe that's what this is about...we shouldn't feel stupid for showing our true emotions...

  • jesus.... these kids have the words of poets :/

  • @B4IRUTUARU16 Yeah, they do. I think the translation may have played a role in it though.

  • I am 6'5... and an ex bouncer from many moons ago... and this dam documentry has me blubbering like a baby. Some powerful stuff here.

  • Im a boy and i cried ;/ so touching

  • I just realized... whenever I'm asked why I go to school, I almost robotically say, "to learn."

I wish I was taught that I go to school to be happy.

  • @nerdishh these kids are 10, you're what 15?

  • @FishyOnStick Seventeen, actually. :)

And the past conjugation of a verb implies in the past, you know. Taught is the past form of 'teach'. Saying that I wish I 'was taught' is saying that I wish I WAS - in the past, meaning when I was little - taught that I go to school to be happy. If it was the present, I would say that I wish I AM taught.

    Verbs are wonderful things.

And why would you even try to start a fight on such a happy video? It's beyond me...

  • @nerdishh 'Taught' in past tense could also be interpreted as recently being taught in the past.

I wish I was taught (yesterday - 10 years ago) that I go to school to be happy.

Also, I wasn't trying to start a 'fightlol'.

Just pointing out it sounded stupid for a teenager, what I assumed you were to wish you were taught that you go to school to be happy.

I based the recent past tense on the fact since I assumed you were a teenager, you still attend school/college.

  • @FishyOnStick Well, I guess you assumed incorrectly. :)

  • so cute they cheered that boy

  • That so cool wish we had teachers like that In the US well we should be the teachers in the US and teach kids these lessons lets fight to establash such things..

  • If i ever have children i'm gonna make them watch this vid and say 'this is how you should act! and I don't want to hear any less out of you!!!' :))

  • I just happened to accidently stumble upon this documentary and I find it so amazing and so touching.

I plan on becoming a teacher in the next few years and I hope that I can make a difference like this teacher has.

Children these days could use something like this in their classroom.

I have never witnessed such closeness between classmates.

Truly remarkable. No words can explain how truly amazing this was to witness and I am so thankful to have been able to see this in my lifetime.

  • @Slygurl200617-Same for me: I'll be a highschool teacher in Germany soon, looked for some documentaries about Japan and stumbled on this one.

Truely remarkable colleague/seems like Mr. Kanamori is a true ace!

I think every future teacher should watch this during his time at university.

In Germany we learn vast amounts of unnecessary scientific knowledge that by the time we will be 10 years in service is no longer valid.

The real social and didactic skills are not trained...what a waste of time.

  • This video gave me chills. An amazing documentary. Most documentaries are meant to create feelings of angst towards something or some group. This documentary does the complete opposite and it has truly been one of the greatest I have ever seen.

  • When he says he wants the class's attention, everybody pay attention to him.... In here , U.S.A.... When the teacher says that.....The class is like.....NOTHING.......Just talking...do whatever they doing.......I hate to live here !!!!!!!! I want to be one of them........I love you guys.....!!!!!! Esp. the teacher!

  • i cried tsooo much!!!!1 i wantnto show my class this soo bad!!!

  • I managed to resist crying until I saw Tsubasa's mother... but this segment was particularly beautiful. Just seeing what the letters meant to Tsubasa and his mother was incredible.

  • ;'(!! Wow... I lots count how many times I've cried!

  • i started crying when i heard the letters but i wish all teachers were like this

  • i wish i went to this school back when i was a kid

  • dude why does everyones dad keeps dying , thats like 3 in one class

  • love is our natrual state, thats why children are so loving - this way of teaching can only help that love stay as they grow older, i think a lot of tears will roll watching these, mine included :)

  • this is what we need! love!

  • Very important to include the emotional and mental development. A teacher is just not a teacher since we spent most of our developmental periods with them. We spent a lot of time in school so it influences us a great deal. A teacher should be a caring parent especially since some people don't have that. This is why so many psychologists go back to childhood and puberty to find the root causes of why someone has turned out a specific way.

  • This is incredible touching and shows that the whole world is capable of such love if only we could cherish and love each other more

  • thinking about it I had a teacher who was almost like that in my last year in elementary school, she always made us write these letters , where we had to express our inner feelings. I hated it back, then. Understand it a bit better now I guess ^^

  • Wow, I really loved the documentary. I think the teacher does a great job in teaching them about life. There seems to be more room for personal expression and learning how to deal with problems in life than we are used to. This is one great techer!

  • very nice

  • are all Japanese teachers like this? (making write inner feelings)

  • sadly no.not even close

  • @seculopum

    of course not.

  • This entire series is phenomenal. A great example of important documentary film and of the gift of YouTube for so many to be able to view it and be positively influenced. Learn to be more like them all!

  • This whole Children Full of Life Documentary is quite sentimental

  • the letters that they wrote to tsubasa wore so beautiful :) its nice to see that they care for their friend :')

  • Wow...family and friendship is soo important there..I'm soo jealous...my father died when I was 5..and when I talk about him to my friends or to a classmate cuz they wanna know...they just go like "Oh...that sux...I'm sorry............SO YEA anyways" and they start talkin about themselves.......

  • I'm so sorry about that..I hope you will find love in people that truly care about you! :)

  • I felt so many emotions while watching these last 4 videos on this documentary. It makes me feel so good that these children have such a great adult who can teach them to be wise and enjoy life to its fullest. Here in the u.s I feel that the young kids, teens, and adults lack all of what these kids have. The truth is, as I see it, is that we keep things hidden to long, and we have no empathy for anyone. If had a chance to have a teacher like that, I would go back in time.

  • oh yea to see this vid i feel same . i hate those all teacher who Destroy ma childhood .

( study in ur country is at least better then how we study here in india just like animals >:(

  • @gamegirlalia i know. ppl here in u.s...are so fake. they don't care. it's almost as if, they lack souls!!

    i can't be personal/honest with any friends.

but at least i have my family :/

  • @gamegirlalia I have a lot of respect for elderly. However, my friends think I'm lame (uncool) for being nice to them. I'm living in america btw.

  • @gamegirlalia Why don't you be a teacher and make a difference?

  • @RenewableFuel Because that is not my dream and although it may seem like a good idea for the thought I don't think I want to teach privileged kids in America, Not that every single kid has more than what they need but it is something to think about. I don't have patience but I do have a understading point of view. Anyways, thanks for the feedback.

  • @gamegirlalia well said.

  • @gamegirlalia This is what adults are supposed to do, yet it appears like a novelty. A sad testament to our values and priorities today and evidence of why we are where we are, right now.

  • those kids are so genuinely sweet, it really makes me tear up.

  • damn there so wise for their age :p it gave me the chills when i saw all those children giving him the letters and his mum crying... i have a friend whose mother (i dont know how too say but:) hang her self up :(

sry for the spelling (i'm dutch) :)

  • We had the same experience when we were 3rd or 4th grade. We were informed by our teacher that mother of our class mate had died. I still remember the whole room turned dead silent. I felt sick in my stomach imagining it could happen to me and everybody else probably felt the same way.

The idea of losing parent, specially mother is a devastating for kids in that age.

  • Oh my god, this doccumentary is so sad and touching. This definately pulled some heart strings, and brought many tears. I'm compairing these wonderful, mature children to those I can remember from grade 4, I bet none of them could have given so much support or empathy to a classmate as they can. So inspiring

  • So much deaths

  • I can't help but think somekind of fate is seen here; these kids have an amazing teacher with a lot of empathy and quite a lot of them have faced the death of a parent/grandparent even though Japanese live long lifes and have children fairly young...what a coincidence...

  • these children are so kind and genuine, when teachers attempt programs like this in America, it only made the children pretend to care, i feel that these kids truly care for each other.

  • You Are So right, Teddyclopse. I think you just said what i have been trying to say or have been thinking for years. i wish kids in America wouldnt have to pretend to care. thanks for posting that :)

  • aww. they said they brought him pizza

  • This portion of the documentary is so completely touching. I teared up during the first parts. This one, however, made the tears come. Especially when Tsubasa's mother brought him to the class... And the letters? :'(

  • I cried like a baby watching this documentary. It was so touching.

  • Me to.. me to.. i wasn't sure why i was.

  • Yeah, I teared up too...I guess it just pulled on the heart strings

  • i love how great they all are

im surprised at how meaningful yo's and mifuyi's letter are :O

  • I did the tracing your body on paper then coloring it in once when I was in elementary school. I didn't know any better and ended up drawing boobs on it like my barbies had and the teachers got really mad at me and took it away, lol!

  • these kids are so fortunate enough to have that guy as their mentor. :) now THIS is how to "raise" a kid. not just through knowledge, but through EXPERIENCE. :')

  • but All my teachers here in america did things like this (albeit the lack knowledge obtained after all of it) all my teachers talked about stuff like this and taught us to do the right thing and treat others the way we want to treat them but I guess my school was an exception to most schools in america.

  • Didn't he say Tsubasa wrong?

  • a tall order.... meaning its a lot for just 10 year olds to handle the death of a loved one.

  • no sometimes he refers to the kids by their first name, unless youre talking about the narrator hes pretty much butchering all their names

  • aww i cried :(

  • I want to see what they will do in middle school and high school

  • i wish it wasn't such a problem for guys to display emotion. stupid culture.

  • AAAAAW! His friends nom'd him! HIS MOM IS SO HAPPY. AAAAH THIS IS SO SWEET.

Shit I love these kids. They're learning so much... about life. About everything. *touched*

  • you can notice how close all the kids are to each other and the teacher cause there is no use of honorifics when they are conversing.

  • Yeah I just noticed that too.

  • Because like

    Tsumani is a common word.

You don't hear people going Two-sami!

  • It is nice how they all come to his aid...If only poeple were like this more...The teacher is right we as a people grow more and more self centered

  • It will be nice if they all grow up to be fine individuals

  • this is like a mini reality series lol so interesting

  • i love the vid....

    awesome

  • Mifuyu is so cute

  • I've been loving this documentary.. It is very touching and compelling. Like everyone is bonded like a family.... It is so harsh too lose a parent at a young age..... Thank you for posting..

  • these 10 year olds are so mature for their age

  • *sigh* every class should be like this one

  • I suppose Tsubasa's father is one of the many Japanese men who die young because they simply work too hard. Eventhough I like this documentary, I dont think Japanese society is as sweet as it is being portrayed here.

  • really, i was thinking they had one of the higher life expectancies, other than the fact that they love to kill themselves more for industrialized societies

  • I was thinking the EXACT same thing, underdogg20. The exact same thing.

It's probably how Mifuyu's dad died too, since he was a successful designer. Work lif ein Japan is incredibly stressful, so people usually overwork themselves.

  • This is exactly one of the reasons the teacher is teaching about these life aspects.

  • Comment removed

  • underdogg20: "I suppose Tsubasa's father.."

Statistics show both Japanese male, female population are longest living in the world in their category.

Just one example doesn't tell a whole story.

If a few of them die young, the rest must be living even longer to make up the statistic numbers.

  • Yeah, as far as living the longest, Japan is in the lead because how healthy food, excersise, and having a healthy life and mind. Japanese culture is very good about countering stress of life with a type of mind set, also schools and jobs give you time to rest and calmdown. Although this is true, Japanese live the longest, that dosent mean they cant die from disease, or sickness, or an accedent. People still die there, all ages. Just talking about people that die naturally,Japan lives longest

  • he'll be a great football player, i can feel it, tsubasa......

  • these children are extremely big hearted

i must say their teacher has done an amazing job at teaching them the importance of friendship and the value of life

  • This documentary is truly amazing!! I was speechless at the end of it all. Just so touching.

  • shit this is touching...

    the empathy is amazing

    fuck this is emotional....

    amazing!!!

  • awesome : >

  • why r they so sweet!! they keep making me cry!! :S:S

i wish my classmates where nearly as caring

  • Man.. so much support from the students.

    Fab.

  • i wish my school was like dis

  • so endearing...
