you are a great player but seem to play quite modally (I mean, 1 chrod like 4-5 bars, and then change, plenty of space there, ca you play something like Stella by Starlight for instance, or the Girl from Ipanem... some Standards, thanks)
@usalespaul59 Of course man, I know a lot of standards by heart. I'm not a master at it but I went to jazz college for 5 years. Check out my package at Jamtrackcentral - it contains a 2 minute long solo over the changes of Blue in Green by Miles Davis! :) There'll also be a jazz composition with quite some tricky changes on my upcoming album! I also have version of Billie's Bounce here on Youtube - generally it's not really what my crowd demands tho :)
@ElWischi One of my favorite jazz players is Peter Bernstein (who really plays MUSICAL, no shreds, no show offs, just PURE music; which doesn't mean of course that you can't play fast and musical, but it doesn't seem to happen often among guitarists) What the crowd demands... well, you might be in the wrong crowd then haha... would be great if you did some Cole Porter stuff for instance... thanks :)
Check a guitarist called Dixon Nacey out ;) (he's in my abo list, he's great...
@usalespaul59 Indeed, he is a monster. Thanks for introducing me! I might tackle Stella on my next vid. Haven't touched my acoustic in a while, hm......
Nice work! One question - I've found that when ascending a pattern like this, I have to pluck (pull/pop) the first note of each higher string to get the note to sound clearly like Reb Beach does.
But it would be so much easier if I didn't have to... What did you do to get your LH index finger strong enough to sound the notes so clearly? :o)
@yonkeythedonkey Hi! I took lessons by Greg Howe and he gave me an excersize for that. You'll find it's a lot easier to get those index finger notes to sound out on the higher strings. He gave me an excersize that went like this: You tap on the 18th fret of the g-string, hammer index finger on the 15th of the b, hammer on 17th with third finger, tap on the 19th, then hammer with index finger on the 15th of the high e, then 17th and 19th again and descend the same pattern.
@yonkeythedonkey after that you can expand it with stretches. You can use 7th arpeggios with string skipping for instance. If you really feel like going mental you can try to do the licks on Guthrie Govan's "wonderfull slippery thing" or "fives". Both are musical, it's great to learn them :)
@Olhor10 You are so right about that....in fact I find that when I watch his performances and pick up my guitar, tears flow profusely down my cheeks....

@FIndelCOB hi. i don't know if this helps, but i would keep trying to tap that fret you get a weak tone from. like, only tap that note over and over again and feel how it sounds. its really common that guitar players keep training licks at fast speed and don't get it perfectly ;) hope this helped! take care and keep practicing! :)
Just a quick question: when a pattern skips from the A to the G string and the tap finger is removed from the A string I always hear a little of the open A and was wondering how you damp this? Tx
@openmind1984 SSH+ (bridge) SSV (neck) or you can go with the aldrich it depends on what you want them for. theres not much difference between the two. also if you want a darker clearer tone get the DSH+ (bridge) DSV (neck) personaly i want the SSH+ and SSV
Awesome lick Martin! I love your fusion style, and that Suhr looks so great! Your tone is amazing as well, very smooth and polished. Waiting for your album dude! :)
Great learning video but t=27 , that's so gay hehe :))
Note that on later videos he never moved his hair like that :))

I'm less interested in fast shred lines, rather in nice melodic lines which a harmonically interesting as well (as I'm not that good at this)
