  • hey man nice review...i m thinking about either buying this or the px-888...but i m not sure which one cause i was wondering are they compatible with tinytrak or opentracker for APRS tracking, cause that is my main purpose....any ideas?

  • Good review I really liked it. I just ordered one for airsofting and after watching this im pretty happy I bought it already. Thanks

  • What's the difference with 136-174 MHz and 400-270mhz?

  • great review

  • I could really care less what the FCC thinks about these radios, and whether they are "approved" or not. The price is right, and I've got one of these radios in the mail right now.

  • @bigbob1122 Yup you and me both. Cant beat the price and you will love your unit.

  • This is a great style of review, keep up the good work

  • The puxing radios are all type accepted. The factory has all licenses for this radio.

  • im geting the puxing px-888 soon butt niec vid man

  • Great vid man, thanks a lot. Have you tried the px888 yet, do you think it might have substantial improvements? Good luck

  • Thanks for the reviev !!!

  • do you need a license to use these in the uk?

  • "Youknow" is definitely your favourite word lol

  • Are these radios able to use MURS?

  • Comment removed

  • These are good radios but it seems like there is always a minor problem with them. As far as the DTMF all of the buttons should work on it. On mine if you hit the squelch it starts clipping when transmissions come through. But overall they're good radios

  • btw, why is it that of all the HT's I've looked at (with the exception of one that I've forgotten the name of) never say anything about being able to transmit Morse Code? Is it just assumed all are inherently capable of it or maybe only a few are?

  • Hi, I just started getting into Morse Code a few weeks ago and not too long after decided that I pretty much wanted and needed to get licensed. No experience in ham radio and I was wondering if this would be an adequate first HT, particularly as money is tight these days... Should I wait a few more weeks and get a 'dualband' HT? Otherwise, I'm assuming that as a beginner I'd want to start with VHF over a UHF... Any other HT's you could recommend in the $80 price range?

    Thanks.

  • Can you please make a video about how to program this radio? Please

  • Got it..looks great..cant make heads or tails of how to program it....Ill keep trying

  • waiting for mine to arrive....Ive paid more for batts....now I suddenly have a desire to grab a diet mt dew.

  • where can i buy this?

  • could you PM me the name of the seller? I am volunteer firemen looking for a cheap but effective radio i can use.

  • also another thing. is it the puxing plus? or the regualar 777 thats legal . thanks!

  • one thing that makes me mad about the whole puxing and FCC issues is it is hard to find a legal looking answer. now i believe the thing you have posted. but so many people say they are illegal. really shity. but you are from the USA so i trust you and obviously you haven't gotten into any trouble for it. thank you for this great review.

  • I have just purchased one of these radios which I have found great so far. One thing does any one know how to name a channel with out using a usb cable? I was under the impression you could do it under name in the menu ... I would appreciate any help on this one. PS... Great review as it inspired me to buy great advice thanks!!!

  • Bought one and Hated mine, Couldnt Program nor Could Reset, I had to return it

  • the wierwei v1000 is like the mk2 version and is much better.

  • that is a uhf antenna duh!

  • No its not so duh on you. You cant tell by the way they look anymore.

  • can you use this to talk with frs?

  • Nice looking radio. How can you compare that radio with a puxing 888?

  • Hi mate,

I am the owner of an FM station PUXING PX-777 and I have one problem. The station has not appeared to me the frequency range and can only be used on CH-001 and so on up to the CH-50 station on the VHF and restiram FULL but still not the band. What would you suggest? We trust your e-mail address to send you a picture FM station?

    LP, Sebastian from Slovenia

  • cool, i've got a puxing PX-2R on it's way they really look nice for the money i've got a wouxun dual band transceiver I think it's about the same great quality as Puxing for the cash, great vid tnx

  • I've owned a 777 vhf for about 3 months. Great handheld when you do the simple " hole drill " to improve the audio. I've checked it against a friend who has a Yaesu vx7, and no joke, the puxing shits all over it. The puxing is faultless, and the only problems i've encountered are having to wait nearly 2wk for delivery from China to England. I've even ordered another two. Top gear. 73's.

  • What kind of headset plugs does it use? kenwood? ICOM? etc.

  • The accessories including programming lead are Kenwood compatible.

  • Nice Review. Nice Weather Channel Music lol

  • but for $70 shipped.....ITS A STEAL! & holds 128 channels.

my saber only holds 12 channels, its giant and very heavy. and was $100!

  • this rig is awesome! i got the uhf version about 10 days after purchased. i programmed my local PD, FD & EMS into the radio. and some gmrs frequencies as well since i hold a gmrs licence. you can program frequencies and name your channels via keypad. its only about 4 inches tall "very small" and feels great in your hand.

    DOWNSIDE.

    scramber doesn't work

    flimsy anteena

    scanning funtion is very slow

    call buton doesn't work

    channel knob is very senitive.

    doesn't have a roger tone.

  • The scrambler does work with the PX-777+ but not with the basic PX-777 model.

  • i have the puxing px-777 plus uhf model and it doesn't work for some reason.

  • Interesting. Me I have the VEV-3288s which is like the basic PX-777. This does not have a scrambler nor ANI although these items still appear in the radios menu.

Another I have is the PX-888 which is a considerable improvement on the 888, although it still has its 'quirks' and 'don't works' as you'd expect from a buget Chinese radio.

The voice inversion works but the inversion point is fixed and cannot be assigned.

  • I can still use it to listen to our local commercial encrypted users even if they use rolling code. The audio sounds a bit 'Donald Duck" at times but it's still intelligable.

  • did you get the programming software or did you program it by hand?

  • At 5h:30m you mentioned the microphone not being as sensitive as you'd like. I have read about microphone modifications on this model, and if it's anything like the Puxing PX888 it's really poor. It's really a shame 'cause my PX888 is feature-packed, feels good and solid but they neglected the basics! I'm guessing the Puxing PX777 is similar.

When you mention price, you don't really mention delivery costs, which raises the cost of these things quite a bit.

    Otherwise, good review.

  • can you name your channels on this radio?

  • do you need to sync it with the comupter?

  • Can it activate tones on frequencies?

  • Is this a good radio? cause i have one coming into the mail.

  • can this neat little radio encode and decode quickcall 2 or 1 format

  • Has anyone used the programming software for this radio to program it?? i just ordered the software for my 777 does anyone know if its easy to use?

  • It's very simple, don't worry

  • yeah its really easy but you cant program the channels names soo if you want names for the channels you have to program it by hand

  • The latest software does allow programming of the alpha tags although the software overall leaves a lot to be desired.

Cut and paste is not possible and even re-ordering channels is not featured.

  • Excellent review. Thank you for taking the time and effort. Keep up the good work.

  • Great review. I've been considering a purchase and this was the best source I've found for info!

  • Excellent review. Thanks for taking the time and effort.2E0SSQ.

  • Im a first time buyer for two way radios, And i dont know the difference between the uhf and so on?

I defo want to get a Puxing px 777 because of this review but i dont know which one to go for?

  • Great review, good to see someone putting in the effort to come up with a polished video like this! Thanks a lot.

  • Thanks for the nice review. I was looking for an inexpensive HT. For $56.00, it looks like this will fit the bill.

    Bob

  • Additional... You need to read Part 15 rules to get the whole story. This is controversial.

Many PX-777s do NOT have the FCC label.... most don't. I'm having a devil of a time trying to find one. You can get 'em cheap.... but can you get 'em legal? Any ideas on sellers would be appreciated.

Again.. like I said... good review. I didn't mean to accuse you of criminal activity. No ham would ever do that to another ham. Sorry for my omission.... 73 John

  • OK man no prob. Good info and perhaps I jumped the gun a bit but. I see the word "illegal" and I go on the offensive. Anyhow PM me and Ill give you the name of the seller that sold me mine. Its got the FCC ID right on the back.

  • Again... look at any HT... ALL *commercially manufactured* radios need at least a Part 15 approval. This doesn't apply to home brewed equipment, only *commercially manufactured* Also this part 15 approval applies to the receiver stages.

Folks.. you need to read ALL the rules.

BTW: *some* PX-777 radios *do* have the FCC ID on the back. I apologize for omitting (accidentally) that one critical detail. The PX-777 is the *only* one allowed in the US. But then only some have the FCC ID.

  • Problem is these radios have no FCC ID, which is required. Even for ham operators, all *commercially manufactured* radio need at least Part 15 approval.... remember the receiver must pass certain standards. Look at ALL HTs and you will see the FCC id.

Good report... too bad you are using an illegal radio. Some models are FCC approved, but I'm looking for one with the FCC label.

I want one... but don't want to lose my license.

  • Before you accuse me using an illegal radio get your information correct. The Puxing 777 is certified by the FCC it even has the certification on the back of the battery compartment. Do your research or next time just ask. Furthermore your radio needs no certification in order to transmit on the amateur bands. I mean you could build one yourself right ? How would you certify it ? You wouldnt thats why its called "Amateur Radio"

  • @johnlwilkers So let me ask this. IF this radio were illegal, what then? I mean who is going to know if this radio is illegal or not? It doesn't matter! I don't understand why so many HAMs think that the FCC is just going to come to your house and bust down the door in search of "illegal" radios.

  • How do you change the channel name from CH-001 to any name you want it ?

    (eg-PMR 1)

  • Hold the squelch and enter key while turning on the radio and that will take you into self programing mode and you will then be able to change channel names.

  • Nice review, there really isn't many reviews around on these good little radios, I have just bought the Puxing PX-888 (UHF), and it's really impossible to find a proper review of it.

  • Yeah I might trade up to the 888 myself since it might be a tad better from what I heard

  • Excellent video. Well produced and I look forward to your next on extra programming features!

    Cheers
