  • I know this is totally on aside... But this set looks like it was designed for an afternoon children's news program.

  • Wow what the hell. Newt Gingrich sounds a little reasonable in this. Where is his torch and pitchfork which he had picked up in the presidential race at....

  • Hitchens is heaven

  • I would never vote for Gingrich, and I'm against statism in general, but at least one can listen to him without becoming stupider.

  • @GrantValdes Are you sure he didn't get to you? "Stupider" is not a word ;)

  • we made it up :D

  • the true evil is the Illuminati...and only they

  • Only a REAL FOOL would claim there is no God! Man creates awesome skyscrapers, fake hearts, tunnels, vehicles etc.. If we are very imperfect then what more can God create THE UNIVERSE! You must accept Jesus Christ as your Savior to receive eternal rest in heaven! Simple! John 3:16 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him! Repent & accept Jesus Christ! • @tigersforchrist Posts like this have come to become almost indistinguishable from a joke or actual feeling to me. Your name as well throws me off. I can really only laugh and hope you're laughing with me.

  • @tigersforchrist I noticed you also seem to be coming here every few days and posting the same paragraph of bull. Real clever.

  • @tigersforchrist Don't forget Deuteronomy 21:23 - 'No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the LORD'!

  • @arnoldlayne1991 Ouch!!

  • @tigersforchrist Thats religions problem! "We MUST ACCEPT jesus christ as a savior", or we'll burn in hell fire. I'm not a slave that I should just bow and submit to something there is no evidence of and that most of the bible is a man-made series of stories, therefore, why shouldn't I question it? Many Theist today admit bible 'stories' are full of metaphors throughout. It is a fool who submits his will to an entity that demands participation, or else! Thank You, but no!

  • @tigersforchrist Are you serious???

  • @tigersforchrist I am a Christian, and though I don't see eye to eye with Hitchens on everything neither you nor I can deny that he was a brilliant thinker. Most atheists would predictably take a politically leftist approach on the war on terror, but Hitchens has proved that he structures his conviction on reason, not presupposition, as most atheists (and even Christians for that matter) tend to do, and for that he's one of the few atheists I truly respect.

  • I can't stand the host. It's like he is forcing us to remember every once in a while that he knows some "big words" or obscure quote... It's forced and not natural.

  • This video could not have ended with less fitting music..

  • The human race is poorer without the presence of Hitchens .

  • Voiceovers completely unnecessary.

  • Newton really ought to learn how to tie a tie properly.

  • Intellectual titan vs intellectual mediocrity moderated by imbecile.

  • Looks like they were both wrong.10 years on, it has been a terrible failure.

  • The world is a worse place without hitch...

  • @redmag5656 Indeed.

  • It's a good thing that Newt is not an option for potential presidency, "I don't know that there was a huge intelligence failure" pretty much solidify's why it's not a good thing if he were president.

  • Only a REAL FOOL would claim there is no God! Man creates awesome skyscrapers, fake hearts, tunnels, vehicles etc.. If we are very imperfect then what more can God create THE UNIVERSE! • @tigersforchrist

G-d is and must be elevated above his creation.

How can you believe that G-d can actually have a begotten son?

And if he has a son, does he have a father and so on and so forth?

    Think this can not be.

The original Bible did not speak of Jesus (PBUH) as a son, but as servant of G-d.

  • @arraba99 "The original Bible did not speak of Jesus (PBUH) as a son, but as servant of G-d."

    Evidence please.

  • @gerardk51

I agree with you, "The original Bible did not speak of Jesus (PBUH) as a son, but as servant of G-d."

The later insertion of "son" and other things were man made.

  • @arraba99 the whole stuff was man made, including 'g-d'

  • @gerardk51

Original Bible did not speak of Jesus as son of G-d

  • @tigersforchrist Hehe, good one.

  • @tigersforchrist I accept nothing. Your are a snake oil salesman, and nobody's buying.

  • @tigersforchrist Thank you for trying to push fear with your beliefs. I would much rather go to Hell than to live with a God who feels I must believe in an idea that Jesus Christ is the Son of God in order to live in eternal happiness.

I feel sorry for all the people throughout the history of time who never heard about Jesus. They immediately went to Hell regardless of being a decent human being, according to your beliefs, just because they didn't know who Jesus was.

  • @Zemorse1988

Totally agree with the general sentiment of your comment, but it grates on me when people say they'd much rather go to hell than live with such an indecent and immoral God.

    Noble sure, but utter bollocks.

  • @tigersforchrist Proof?

  • @tigersforchrist Jesus Christ or Hell? Thank you, but I think I'd rather take my chances.

  • i think Gingrich is slightly intimidates by Hitch because he keeps glancing at him, and it looks like he's looking for approval or making sure Hitch isn't disagreeing... and to be honest, I would do the same. lol

  • Holy hell whenever I see that smug arrogant face of Gingrich's I have a hard time paying attention to what he's saying.

  • Wow, how those have changed in appearance of over the years.

  • Hitchens - while a smart guy - was totally wrong on foreign policy.

he seemed very bias towards Israel...

I think he disliked muslims because of there religion and Israel he liked because they seem more secular.

So - to me thats where I think hes wrong. To me Israel is the offender, i dont care about there religion.

  • I do not support Gingrich, nor do I agree with him. But watching this has given me a new-found respect in his ability to perform a concise and eloquent discussion of differentiating viewpoints. I only wish that he didn't try so hard to fit into a stereotype during his campaign. If this Gingrich was running for president, I would not have been so quick to dislike him.

  • and who defines what or who is a terrorist? answer those in power.

if i am in power and you are wearing a color shirt that i dont like i can deem you a terrorist..

if i am in power and you say that i am stupid i can say you are a terrorist and have you killed.

just remember those who make the rules will ALWAYS make exceptions from those rules for themselves and their friends.

  • I think that Newt Gingrich displays his opinions eloquently, because Republicans consider foreign policy a lot. They are not stuck in an 'Anti-War' mindset which, while honourable, does not allow much consideration of the finer points of War, Intelligence gathering and armed conflict. But in domestic policy they only care about cutting taxes and allowing Capitalism to be a kind of judge

  • @CaptainJones32 . What are the finer points of the USA being pushed into all these wars for Israeli interests?

  • Gingrich: "I don't know that there was a huge intelligence failure."

I hope he knows better by now.

  • WHY IS NEWT GINGRICH PRESENTING SOUND, CONSIDERED, REASONABLE RESPONSES TO THESE QUESTIONS? Either Hitchens rubbed off on him, or he's prepared to say one thing to one audience and another to another.

  • @Tredicity good definition of a politician

  • @Tredicity Obviously, he uses different lenses and filters than you.

  • I love Hitches may he rest in peace but i do question how far down the rabbit hole he actually went? associating with certain elitests, supporting the Iraq war... it does make me wonder.

  • @postmasterw00t Good riddance to the braying jackass Christ' Hitchens who supported the sanctions and the war of pelf against Iraq. [Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: "We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?"; Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: "I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it." — "60 Minutes" (5/12/96)]

  • And now we know the whole thing was a Trojan horse to completely 'globalise' the Middle East (ie. put it under the control of the global elite) and erect Police States worldwide.

The war on terror is not just a war against Muslims - it is a war against humanity.

  • Khomeini's first book was Kashf al-Asrar, aka Secrets Unveiled, 1942 Islam makes it incumbent on all adult males, provided they are not disabled and incapacitated, to prepare themselves for the conquest of [other] countries so that the writ of Islam is obeyed in every country in the world. Ayatollah Khomeini

  • I am surpised how rational gingrich is here. Hitchen seems to only had gotten worse from there in his views on Islam.

  • I think Hitchens supported this war, partly, because he so hated to take a popular or commen sense line on anything. He did sell books. Why are you limiting comments?

  • @slyer72 profoundly stupid comment. Shame on you for not putting internet access to better use.

  • I wish there weren't so many interruptions by the presenter, the two guests have to fight to conclude their points!

  • why is hitchens debating with this hick?

  • @gabe228 Gingrich is a militant Zionist. Hitchens was a Zionist in the last 10 years of his life.

  • @MikeMths35 eh I don't like that you're referring to people who ardently oppose the Islamic religion as Zionists by default.

  • I was hoping for fireworks.

  • isn't it curious to think that after listening to all the semantic arguments and attempts to define the threat - what it is and what it isn't - and analysis of the causative factors, and such, all that is really being talked about here is how to keep us from having physical pain inflicted on us, or to stop our lives from being involuntarily ended.

  • YOU IDIOTS WHO ARE SURPRISED THAT NEWT IS ACTUALLY VERY INTELLECTUAL AND SMART NEED TO TURN OFF FAKE NEWS MSNBC. NEWT IS A LOT OF THINGS AND ONE OF THOSE THINGS IS A VERY INTELLIGENT MAN. YES BAD THINGS FOLLOW BUT YES WATCH HIM IN DEBATES AND IN INTERVIEWS. HE IS EXTREMELY SMART. STOP BELIEVING THAT IGNORANT LIES FROM THE LIBERAL MEDIA THAT ALL CONSERVATIVES ARE IDIOTS.

  • @adamk4747

couldnt of said it any better

  • @adamk4747 Not answering questions and lying =/= good answers.

  • @adamk4747 I have always acknowledged Newt's rather capable cerebrum, but would certainly never label him a conservative in practice.

  • @adamk4747 i like the way you use caps to get your point across. very persuasive.

  • @adamk4747

No insult intended, just trying to give you a little constructive criticism.

When most people see a block of text in all caps (especially one that begins AND ends with "IDIOTS"), they're already mentally primed to think that the person writing it and the opinion expressed are ignorant, emotional, and overly opinionated.

If you want to actually inform anyone of anything, it's in your interest to present yourself in a less unsavory manner.

  • @adamk4747

Why are you yelling at us?

  • @adamk4747 OK, but they just so often seem so damned idiotic. For example, when they so unnecessarily use all caps.

  • I am going to make a very simple statement, we have gone to war, on something that:

    1. has bankrupt our economy

    2. has killed far more people in itself than 9/11

500,000 people in the US die from heart disease EVERY YEAR and we want to go to war at the cost of the previous facts because 3,000 were killed in 9/11. Not to belittle 9/11 but to tell you the truth, we were behind 9/11, just research the facts. Most specifically, the reason i write this, This war on terror IS NOT WORTH IT !

  • @slyer72 Do you have any proof it was us? If not, then be quiet and keep your delusions to yourself.

  • It isn't odd for Hitchens to be seen with Gingrich. Hitchens often sat on roundtables with Pat Buchanan, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle. And in any case, if Gingrich does seem rational here, remember that he believes different things depending on the time of day and who's paying him.

  • @ElectricSexPants

I think Pat Buchanan is an even worse misfit in that list than Newt. Newt may not be a Hitch, but for a politician he's pretty well read. Put any other recent republican candidate next to Hitch and they'd look like a joke.

  • awesome conversation...it's kind of splitting hairs when they get talking about the semantics of phrases

  • GW Bush,Cheney,McCain,Palin,Santorum,Perry,Gringich,O`Donnell, Bachmann,Romney.... I mean come on.... here in Switzerland no one would even think about voting for these disgusting creatures and we`re social conservative in general....

I hope Obama get reelected ... I can`t even imagine what would happen if idiots like Gringich or greedy rich bastards like Romney get elected.... Oh wait I can.... GW Bush reminds me of something...

  • what the fuccccck big newt and the hitch together didnt think id ever find a vid like this

  • Gingrich sounds much smarter when he's not running for president

  • @Nemesis000000 Gingrich sounds smart because Christopher is laying all the ground work, Gingrich just gets to agree and follow his lead.

  • @gihaification Not so; I dislike Gingrich, but I admit he is smart, and have heard Hitchens say as much; Besides, I have heard others agree with Hitchens and still sound imbecilic

  • @Nemesis000000 I was thinking the very same thing while watching this video. Gingrich is a very smart man, but in order to please idiots for an election, I think he is required to make stupid remarks.

  • @Nemesis000000 that's because he is not pandering to morons, aka the average GOP supporter.

  • @Nemesis000000 that's because he is a politic whore, he'll say what people want to hear in order to achieve his goals (money). He treats people as means to ends.

  • @TheMisfitable sad but true

  • @TheMisfitable

    agree 100%.

  • @Nemesis000000 : So true. He's smart enough that when he's not pandering to his religious-right base, he's pretty reasonable. Hitchens also shows his skill at drawing out the best in those he debates. RIP Chris. We miss ya.

  • @Nemesis000000 because hes not runnin for president hes running for the party nominee to lead a party one must act as retarded as a party

  • CH: “The problem is theocratic fascism.” NG: “Here.”

CH: “Bill of Rights?” NG: “Say Good-bye.”

    God save the Newt.

  • Gingrich: We are talking about ALL terrorists who operate globally

Gingrich: “If we intend to remain a prosperous, free society, our campaign and the war on terror must be 90% offense and only 10% defense.”

Gingrich: “I think we need to replace Saddam Hussein.” with another sectarian regime that comports with our balance of power strategy. Besides, if they’re theists, there is always the hope that we can convert them to Christianity and they decide to be our slaves as well.

  • I really wish Hitch was still with us, he is sadly missed!

  • I really wish this video was less edited. They cut as soon as any point starts to seem interesting.

  • Newt = Nuts

  • Oh Newt-- 17:25 you seem to half-heartedly imply a criticism toward the Bush administration "emotionally rallying" the country, yet now in 2011/12 you stand at your GOP podium and explicitly or implicitly repeat appeals to fear. This video shows that you were capable of a well-mannered and thoughtful dialogue. Your current emotionally charged and fallacy riddled remarks may win you the presidency, but that will only show how dishonest, two-faced, and bought-and-paid for you really are. Shame!

  • july 18th 2002, Does anyone else think newt looks the same 10 years later?

  • Gingrich is smart but has no intellectual integrity

  • the interviewer is weird as hell

  • Wow... This video has comments?

I wanted to have a LOOOOOOOOOOONG discussion on the Milton Friedman video.

Please, Hoover Institute, allow comments there.

  • the way the host keeps leaning back and forth doesn't make makes him inquisitive... but more like he needs to poop

  • god is logic is god

  • This interviewer is a boob

  • If you were born 10 years ago today in Afghanistan you would of lived in a war your whole life,

  • @dthomas9444 totally surprised me how well Newt spoke.

  • Wow Gingrich put him in his place on that one with, "people aren't necessarily crazy because they act based off of a different set of values." Muslims think our violent asses are just as irrational as Christopher thinks they are.

  • Hitchens: "the difference between this war and all other wars is this is a war against the irrational". Oh yeah genius, just because you're on one side of a war, you're opponent is automatically irrational and no other side of any war in history was irrational. You're about as bright historically as you are theologically and scientifically.

  • lulz, removing Saddam would solve the problem? I don't think that turned out quite how you thought it would.

  • I'm watching this absolutely dumbstruck. Newt Gingrich is actually talking sense here, in a rational and intellectual playing field with Christopher Hitchens. Does this mean he is just playing up to his retarded republican crowd during his presidential debates?!

  • It's the prince and the pea brain.

  • thumbs up if you could have never imagined newt gingrich and hitch having a conversation

  • @dthomas9444 It was but a week ago that I wished Hitchens was around to condemn the evangelical turnout in the GOP primary and the candidates pandering to that sect.

  • Comment removed

  • @dthomas9444 Hollywood can do wonderful things with CGI !

  • @dthomas9444 I'm not surprised to see them in conversation, i'm would have been surprised to see them agree on so much.

  • @dthomas9444 *I would have.

    Damn typing.

  • Ouch 21:50 - police state now newt - 2012 its coming

  • @Krazeyivan99 Newt has always been a conniving fascist, but as he is subsumed within a sea of war worshipping materialistic fascists conniving against the entire world, he had good cover, now blown - and people are seeing his true character.

  • Lol what the hell is wrong with that interviewer?

  • Got problem with sharia law . Sharia law only applied Muslims

  • @AHMEDBULAXUBEY "Got problem with sharia law . Sharia law only applied Muslims"

What does the Sharia Law says about non-muslims?

  • I find this interviewer distasteful

  • @TonsofFun777 how so? I only ask because he has been in many interviews with Hitchens, and have found his questions leading into many interesting conversations

  • It's a shame that Gingrich cries wolf with nonsense so damned much, every once in a while he says something that makes perfect secular sense and the impact of it is lessened.

  • @lion stop with the socialist nonsense. There is 0 evidence to support that claim. Obama is no socialist. If anything his policies are slightly to the right. Increased mil spending, increased surveillance, foreign intervention and a republican health plan regardless of what rep claim. The plan is close to older republican proposals. So tell me where is the socialism from which we need to be saved

  • I should've got into the military supply business

  • @AscendingParadigm You don't really believe that.

  • Christopher Hitchens and Newt Gingrich don’t belong coupled in the same sentence, let alone the same room… It pisses me off seeing one of the most brilliant minds of the 20th century having to carry out a serious dialogue with someone like Gingrich. …Pisses me off.

  • @MarvelsofaLifetime It was actually a pretty decent discussion, coming from someone who doesn't care much for either man.

  • @BrotherAtticus You talking about Newt and Hitchens or the host?

  • NEWT2012!!

  • @WickerVideos

    Arrrogantly corrupt former Congressman.

  • Just when you think American politics couldn't get any worse.....der dum der...here comes Newt Gingrich.

  • @park3r7 So Gingrich, a constitutionalist who wants to do a way with all the ridiculous laws that contradict anti trust laws like Dodd-Frank etc ..., to bring back non government jobs (instead of having government jobs that bankrupt the US), is making politics worse?

I would say Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are the only two chances this nation has left of remaining a democracy and not a socialist, federal reserve controlled state.

  • @lion575 1. We are not a democracy, we are a Democratic Republic. 2. Democracy is a political system, Socialism is a economic system and the two are not mutually exclusive. 3. Newt still supports Medicare Part D which was the biggest expansion in government run healthcare(AKA Socialist policy) in decades. 4. Ron Paul is about as practical with his strict interpretation of the Constitution as a Jihadist's interpretation of the Koran.

  • @park3r7 Gingrich has been around in politics since the 80s. He didn't "come" at all. Obviously you don't know anything about American politics.

  • @park3r7 Just the fact that he is capable of having rare moments of rationality means that he's not the worst out there.

  • The government doesn't want an easily defined war. Easily defined wars have an ending. They can't become useless money-sinks for the military-industrial complex, much like the "war on drugs" is a money-sink for politicians and law enforcement.

  • Neocon imperialists.

  • I don't think that Newt answered the question at 17:25; he is correct in saying that the Bush administration did a good job of rallying support for the war, but he did not address whether or not the Bush administration did a good job of informing the public. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I feel like he purposefully dodged the question.

  • Hitch is happy to be invited at last to the conservative establishment. Chumming around with Newt and the neocons on a first name basis. The self-promotion has paid off. 'Atta boy!

  • Need to bomb moar countries for democracy and human rights - sounds conservative to me.

  • I agree on Hitchens views of Religion but not his political views.

  • Bad interviewer, too many interruptions.

  • LISTEN, UNDERSTAND, DECIDE. RON PAUL 2012

A vote for Dr. Paul is a vote for yourself. He wants to limit gov intrusiveness in our lives & allow us to make our own choices. Stop politicians & the elites from thinking that they’re so smart that they know how to run our lives better than we do. He is one of the few politicians that will make difficult decisions, he will balance the budget by his 3rd year, while most politicians plan to balance the budget after their term is over

    VOTE RON PAUL 2012

  • When you take Newt out of the bullshit electioneering pandering to the religious right, the bonkers tea party and the vast number of dumb americans, he can actually sound quite intelligent.

  • Christopher Hitchens is dead + Newt Gingrich running for president = Instant refutation of Intelligent Design.

  • @VampirePraemium Checkmate Atheist.

  • @VampirePraemium I wish Hitch was still here as I would have loved to hear his commentary on the pathetic candidates on the Republican card this election cycle!

  • @RedroomStudios "Pathetic' by whose definition? Hitchens supported Bush in '04

  • @VampirePraemium "If only," right? I think it would have been great to see Hitchens run as an independant in the 2012 primaries.

  • @utubesux222 Alas, he would be ineligible.

  • @VampirePraemium Why would you want a self-proclaimed Trotskyist running for President?

  • @VampirePraemium Well said!!!! LMFAO

  • @VampirePraemium Best youtube comment I have read in years. Cheers!!!

  • @VampirePraemium Please Christopher Hitchens was a disgusting war monger. I'm glad he is dead. Contrarians are a waste of space.

  • @VampirePraemium that makes so sense. how does intelligent design get refuted by this? you obviosly havent taken into account the chaos of the world. intelligent design could be refuted by death etc on this basis. im afraid your off the mark.

  • @mouthyweasel War makes the world go around . Muhammad knew that

  • GAH post the whole thing pleeeease not with these stupid edits!

  • War. War. War. War. War. What the FUCK is wrong with human beings that they can't get along. Maybe humanity is just a failed experiment.

  • @mouthyweasel it's because we have an evolutionary history of letting the big bloke push us all around. The most aggressive blokes screwed the most women and had more offspring. The stupid women are to blame, and all the weedy blokes. If a hundred thousand years ago, all the weeds and women had kicked the bullies out, and then just chilled, it would all be peace & love. It's just the same as the gorillas & chimps. The bully is in charge. Fuck that, I say.

  • @mouthyweasel

    muslims - hadith - infidels.

    jews - talmud - goyim

    Religion is the failed experiment.

There can never be solidarity for human being as long as you have religion. Religion divides humans against humans.

  • @1tyresius I think you're on to something and it's unfortunate that this happens when the religions themselves are meant to avoid the kind of negativity that we've seen for so long. It also doesn't help to have secular socialists in the middle stirring things up and creating biases that inevitably harness even more hatred between people of different backgrounds and religions. Religion works if it isn't imposed on others and/or if it isn't attacked by other religions or anti-religious bigots.

  • @motox3rider13 I've yet to read a bronze aged myth that didn't insight negitivity and hatred. Religion clearly doesn't work and by it's very nature, is ment to be imposed on otheres. Odd you would use a word like bigot to describe non-believers as it's origins essentialy ment "religious hypocrite." Maybe stirring the pot of negeitivity yourself? Calling the kettle black? Religion only has a history of dividing people, and the few cases it brings them together it's usually for evil

  • @1tyresius Melanonin divides humans. It's become clear these aren't issues...it's just the humans.

  • @akashashen Supremacy divides humans...we should learn to respect diversity. Beside colour, we humans discriminate our fellow beings on many things, ex. concept of beautiful and ugly...

  • @1tyresius Rastafarians believe in One Love for the entire world, yet we and our herbal sacrament are criminalized by fascist militarists who must control and conquer the entire world. WE do not preach violence, nor support any state that does so.

  • @1tyresius

You are a born academic my friend. Way to base your conclusion on two out of hundreds of religions.

  • @1tyresius im afraid you can say that about every single belief and opinion. your an advocate of totalitarionism then im guessing? big brother is watching youuuuu

  • @viridismonasteriense How someone wishes to teach a child is the parents business .Not the state or some annoited individual .That the beauty of thiestic doctrine it gives free will and responsibility that comes with free will up to the individual person .Not to the annoited self rightous associated in the current humanist globalism that infecting the current revisionist's of our time .

  • It's hard to believe that Gingrich is the same guy who is currently pandering to the "let's repeal child labor laws" crowd.

  • "Nazism is a secular religion" that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, mr Gingrich. It's not only an entire contradiction in terms, but you're completely ignorant about the inherent theistic foundations of Nazism, of its cult leader inspired by the bible and martin luther's 'on the j
