@JollyRodders .You see the problem is ,we became independent only a few years back.We have many social problems back home.Our children die hungry,most of them dont know how to read/write.We have a substantially corrupt bureaucracy,which is preventing growth.Add to that a major class divide.

But the reason why we are great is we have left the Americans and Europeans behind in terms of growth.We are competing with China on the international front.

All this without the human rights violations China requires for its growth.We are not export dependent.Our biggest challenge is converting the 1000 million populace into a 1000 million consumer base.Agreed our entreprenuers,businessmen,poli­tical leaders are not as flambouyant and sophisticated as yours,but they have vision.They arent dumb to say the least.Even the european monetary chiefs appluade the conservative Indian outlook which was resilient to the Innovative American recession

The great nations you talk about-USA and European nations,have emerged out of opportunities.EU nations prospered by colonizing Asian nations,USA took advantage after World War 2. Although that maybe part of history books, they sure are some of the major reasons why some nations are presently 'GREAT'.

Greatness of a nation is not determined solely by its present state.India has a very different background and we come from different circumstances.Let me explain my thoughts using an example.

I think everyone agrees that because the poor kid has the grit to achieve something

Great message. I fully agree with you. How can we be so cynical about our own country? It is just our excuse to continue the system that was created in our parents and grand parents generation.

We need to change. And it does not have to be a protest march or dharna. Just obey the law and protest when the law is broken by others.
