Direct drive motor acts like a generator at a dam. I found this out by accident when I was making sure there were no socks hiding in the drum. Spun it and the lights came on. Scared me the first time it happened.
I'm awfully sorry, but is this supposed to be interesting or something? This is a meaningless piece of...well...emm...shite actually! Stephen Speilberg need not worry about your 'movie-making' credentials! Anyway, have fun maunaully spinning that washing machine...I'd rather watch paint dry!

Yup. You can use the machine's electric motor as a generator. Basically, generators and motors are pretty much the same thing. Neat demo.
