That's right, babies do have a right to a mommy and a daddy. They may be alcholics, they may use drugs, they may neglect and abuse their child, but at least they aren't the SAME! That would be WRONG!
@peaceandrosegirl I can't believe we're still debating same-sex marriage in the year 2011, does anyone really care that much who marries who? There are orphanages filled with children who were rejected/abandoned by their natural parents, but same-sex couples aren't allowed to adopt children. It's just so stupid at this point!
@Poochalot Not to mention that no one has any actual REASON to stop gays from marrying or adopting children. All I've ever heard is that "God says it's wrong." Yet I remember reading the Bible, and Jesus blessed a gay relatonship. So the one argument people have is gone. Not that it would matter anyway, America shouldn't be based off of one religion, since the whole point of this country is freedom of religion. And being gay is ok in many religions.
@peaceandrosegirl That's true, I've talked to many people who say they're Christians and there's nothing wrong with being gay, I even have a friend on a gay rights website who uses the name "gay Christian". 20 people can read the Bible and 20 people will say something different about it. How can anyone be so sure what that book says? It's been translated so many times the original translation is gone. There have already been gay marriages and nothing bad happened to anyone.
@Poochalot I agree. My cousin is gay and he is a Christian. And pretty much every other country in the world has allowed gay marriage and many of them are doing a heck of a lot better than the U.S. What are we afraid of?
@peaceandrosegirl What people are afraid of are their own homosexual feelings. Most people (if not all) have a few same-sex desires and it's those desires that scare people so much. Have you ever heard of the Kinsey scale? It's a very good way to measure an individuals level of bisexuality. I took an online test based on the Kinsey scale a few years ago, it said I was heterosexual with bisexual tendencies; which sounded right to me. It's just human nature, but people are afraid of it.
@idaman12345 There could be some sarcasm in that, seeing as how she pointed out that many heterosexual parents abuse their children but that would be so much better than being raised by a same-sex couple.
@jooooooooooll Its not likely. If they do not have psychologcal issues or abuse problems they should grow up to be normal individuals. One may end up being gay if it is sexually abused and its normal sexual compass is wrecked. Barring psychological issues they will be straight. :)
@bobybob10000 No that's not true, ask any medical professional (or you can check the website of the APA) and it will tell you that no link between homosexuality and sexual abuse has ever been found. The truth is the majority of people aren't heterosexual or homosexual, most of us have a level of bisexuality; the majority of that bisexual group leans towards heterosexuality, however there are those who lean towards homosexuality because they're born that way.
I also hope this is satire, otherwise it's absolute bullshit. You know, nobody has ever spelled out exactly what is threatened. My theory is that these folks just hate gay people, and hate the prospect of having to acknowledge us on the street as real people, or see us on the subway behaving as *gasp* a loving couple. Elizabeth Taylor gets 8 or 9 marriages and we don't even get one, and WE are the ones unworthy? GMAFB
My husband and I have been together for 15 years, we have no children. Marriage isn't a union to make babies, there's plenty of people in this world to begin with. Marriage is a union of love, and no amount of hateful homophobic Bible babble from the fanatics of the religious right will change that. It's time to stop hating people who are different, we're all different because that's what makes our world so fascinating. Who wants to be exactly the same as the next guy? Not me.
My straight parents are not god parents at all. at least all homosexual parents are ready to have children and love them considering they have to go through so much just to have a child.
Okay, marriage is not for babies, marriage is to sybolized their DEVOTION to aanother person. Plenty of people have babies without getting married, should we take their children away? (lets go off topic for a sec. gay people cant chooses wheather to be gay or not. unless im mistaken, all you straight people never decided to like the opposite sex, it just happened) I am only a straigh twelve year old, and I have never been confused by this issue. EVER! Neither has my brother, who is 8. REPLY!!
I love babies ! But so many are abandoned children everywhere waiting for someone to take care of them. God supports love. You fall in love with a person, not a gender.
@PrometheanX I hope that you will be glad when soemeone comes up with the idea to deny everyone with brown eyes the right to marry and the majority is stupid enough to vote yes on it and think that was rightful. Good that your legislative finally got its mind back in its place and will remove this example of how influencial predjudices can become in your land of the free.
Social equality is the foundation and basis of dignity and mutual respect for all.
The foundation and basis of social equality is freedom.
Finally, the foundation and basis of freedom is responsibility.
Let's give and take the highest degree and quality of responsibility; to be free, to be social equals, and to express our dignity and respect of our fellow human beings.
Im a transsexual woman and i find it funny how one surgery flipping a few things around can let you get married. face the future people gay marriage will happen its a fact.
Because this makes any sense. A mommy and a daddy? hmmm well let's see, my dad left when i was young and my mom raised 3 kids on her own, and all of her kids are perfectly fine. I myself am gay and have been since the day of conception! Y'all need to stop these pathetic attempts at trying to make gay people look like bad parents! More often than not gay couples function better than straight ones, slim to no abuse, loving and caring parents, and just a happier setting in general! LOVE IS LOVE!
lol what a simple question to answer, with your thoughts hoping i would say "god" or the "creator", but no my parents created me you wanna know how? well i'll tell you, my dad stuck his dick in my mom, ejaculated and fertalized an egg and that egg then grew and became me, no magical happening just simple sience! Evolutiona exist! lol another thing is who created the creator? was he just there? that doesn't make sense?!?!? can anyone explain this to me???
The Creator is eternal and exists outside time, therefore has no beginning or end. The Creator has always been. All created things exist within time. As beings created within time it is hard for us to grasp concepts of eternal existence outside of time. However, just because they are hard to grasp does not mean they do not exist.
Can you answer this then... Why are there so many other religions that predate jesus that have the same exact stories in them? Such as; Buddha, Krishna, Odysseus, Romulus, Dionysus, Heracles, Glycon, Zoroaster/Zarathrustra, Attis of Phygia, And Horus, these are just ten examples there are plenty more.
Similar stories or concepts (i.e. treat other as you would like for them to treat you, which was a concept that predated Jesus) don't really authenticate or detract from the authentication of a later tradition. They just show that that concern is prevelant throughout time and culture. What is different about Christianity is that it has as its central theme the humiliation of its God. There is no other religion before or since that contains that concept.
Wait so you're saying since Christians humiliate their god that it is real? How does this make any sense? By the way, showing that there were stories of similar gods that predated jesus and christianity do detract from the authentication of there really being a god, simply stated, Because there are other gods that predate jesus, there has obviously been a new creation of the same god as before, just with a different name, showing that christianity, Judaism, catholicism, etc are a hoax.
Hmm, what if the baby wants gay parents? Who establishes what baby wants and has the right to? Plus would you deny the rights for a single parent to adopt a kid (because that defys 1women and 1man), I don't think so. My parents got divorced, and my mom married another guy for money, imagine how bringing up a kid would be like.
Come on US get with it don't be behind again - it is not whether you believe but give people the right! I thought you were a 'free' country even the UK has the choice now - stop talking and just do it!
Yeah, babies are really kickin' ass in the straight people market. So I guess whenever you guys learn to stop shaking/beating/neglecting/controlling/abandoning/not paying child support for/getting high with/indoctrinating with crazy, bigoted beliefs/irresponsibly having children with no particular plan in mind, then a sane, loving gay couple can have a crack at it right?
love is love and gay people excist on this planet just the same eventually through evolution we wont have to worry about this....in less than 50 years gay people will adopt all the same get married blah blah blah...its just tradition thats holding us as human beings back from doing whats right. i wish i could telepot the people who make these vids into the future and see how ignorant they truly are. Its no different from in the 50's when whites couldnt marry black people. very sad indeed...
As long as marriage confers tax benefits or any difference in taxation, the government shall not preclude any individual from entering into said social bond.
Or you could just come out and get rid of the tax-exempt status for churches.
this is complete shit. protecting babies?! if you actually cared about young children youd know that same sex couples adopt children that have no where to go, while hetero couples are more likely to produce an unwanted child. if you were really about love then you should try loving everyone, not just straight people. putting a bunch of cute babies on the internet doesent allow you to put the phrase "protect the babies" and make your point. try thinking before you post something like this.
these morons are just hiding behind children and using them to justify their bigotry. another video says that only marriage ordained in a church is truly sacred and will survive which is absolute bullshit. i heard that jesus' first words to his disciples were "the kingdom of god is inside you and all around you - not in mansions of wood and stone". i'm no theist but that actually makes perfect sense. god is a personal belief, not a monopoly controlled by he who has the biggest church.
What's with this "children have a a right to a mother & father" business. What world are the fundies living in? My mom raised me on her own after my father died when I was four and I turned out alright. Having sane loving parent(s) is more important that having straight parents.
I know some kids raised by a lesbian couple and they are sweet, bright, polite, active children, a boy and girl, both who go to my mom's episcopal church. They certainly turned out better than alot of kids I've met.
Because...? Obvoiously many babies the world over have only one of those and too many have none. But the point is still irrelevant to Proposition 8. People are legally allowed to have babies even if they are single and/or unmarried. Married people are not legally required to have babies. Marriage is not about babies it is about a loving partnership.
Gay marriage doesn't mean babies will stop being born. Gay couples will be gay couples forever, heterosexual couples can still have babies and trust me, demographics aren't going to change just because gay people get the right to get married, isn't it their lives?
and another thing... how is wanting to adopt "selfish"? Let's see how many impoverished, hungry, homeless children are there in the world??? I guess all the straight couples are going to take care of them? My point: religion poisons everything. if religion was not your reason for voting YES on 8, then what is it? You're grossed out? I bet some people are still grossed out by interracial marriage but guess what? They had to GROW UP and GET OVER IT.
a "RIGHT" to a Mom and a Dad? How about MY right as a kid to not have to be raised by grandparents and foster parents when I HAVE a Mom and Dad that are still married!!! Stop throwing your damn kids in peoples faces like thats some kind of "reason" for Yes on 8. Using CHILDREN for Yes on 8 ads is WRONG and UNFAIR. What about these kids who don't give a damn about Prop 8? Where are THEIR rights?
Yes I would love if my mommy was Britney...or how about Andrea Yates, good users of traditional marriage. Oh shit...nvm they are awful parents, i thought being straight made you a good parent, boy I was wrong.
The only people of faith who condemn homosexuals are hypocrites. In the book of Lev, shell fish, crop rotation and blended clothing are banned, but these are all part of our every day lives. It's obvious that these "people of faith" are nothing more than intolerant people who not only are close minded, but use their God as a weapon rather than as a blessing. Shame on you, conservative Christians, for demeaning a once great religion.
This is what I have against the so called open minded people for gay marriage. God knew that shellfish was a toxic food a long time ago, so called open minded liberals laugh it off, go talk to another open minded liberal, they will tell you that sea food contains a lot of toxins, especially shellfish. You might want to study some, God is smarter than you.
This video was great, anyone who doesn't get it should take a hike, this state has spoken we want marriage 2B man and woman
This video is a hate message, and you're a hate monger. You only explained shellfish in your comment, which shows that you don't have all of the answers you think that you have. While the Bible is the word of God, very few passages in the Bible even make mention to homosexuality. And when it is mentioned, it is mentioned as either a minor detail, or is condemned by statement of a mortal. The Catholic church continues to lie, but I don't see anybody yelling at them for breaking a commandment.
ravagesavage is awesome...the only person making sense around her. This is a disgusting lifestyle and I refuse to allow it shoved down my childs throat. I don't want to hear your lame protests. I don't want teachers telling my kid it's an acceptable lifestyle and I don't to watch a freakshow every time I drive down the street every time I go outand every time I turn on the television. Quit whining california has spoken they think homosexuality is wrong not to mention gross and immoral. yes on 8
Sorry but you Christians need to figure out if you believe the ENTIRE old testament, and stop selecting the bits you want...requiring a rapist to marry his victim or the jealous husband forcing his wife to drink poisonous liquid or "Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material," Lev. 19:19 or "Make tassels on the four corners of the cloak you wear," Deut. 22:12). Please stop trying to impose your inconsistent and incoherent views of morality on everyone else.
I believe in the entire Old Testament, but as I believe in the Constitutional law. If a man has sex with a girl in a city, especially in those days, when people lived close to each other, if she did not scream, it was interpreted as consent. That would mean he was not a rapist. Rape today is not an easy thing to prove in a court. The Old Testament gives just one way to facilitate the issue.
If gay people loved children they would want them to be adopted by a mom and a dad, after all a child has a Natural Right to a mom and a dad. This just shows me that gay people are selfish. ME ME ME I want to adopt. Sorry, babies need mom and dad. Case to prove this point, two gay guys adopt a girl, who gets to explain the whole tampon thing? How are they suppose to know how to handle that situation to begin with? They couldn't couldn't handle it with a wife, why should they have daughter
This just shows me that gay people are selfish. ME ME ME I want to adopt. Sorry, babies need mom and dad. -Brian
Divorce rates are over 50%, so those poor babies are gonna have a tough time only having 1 parent, but they will get by. Having two men or two women as parents certainly can't be as bad as having only 1. You fail. Try again.

divorce rates in sweden for lesbian couples is 165% OVER heterosexual married couples. Gay marriage, a failed experiment. You fail andiconda3. the only reason you exist is because of a mom and dad and until you learn to be thankful of that you dont deserve your own family.
Lesbian couples divorce just as much if not more than straight couples. Using divorce statistics against traditional marriage when gay couples are no more immune to divorce is pretty funny! And if its worse on the gay side maybe you fags should shut up about divorce or put up a prop to ban divorce since you use that word so highly.
Woah. First. I'm not gay. Second. I don't believe in marriage at all. For anyone. But people are going to demand it. I wasn't disputing that gay couples are immune from divorce, I was disputing your statistic.
I think it's really interesting that all these people who are blatantly using little kids to further their agenda are essentially saying..we love babies, we want them to have the option of a daddy and a mommy...we looove them but wait...if they turn out to be gay..well then we don't want them to have the same rights as everyone else!
amen. they dont appreciate even the beauty centered around the creation of life. The only reason any of us are alive is because of a mother and father. We should at least be grateful of that.
so what you're saying is statistically if a baby grows up with two moms or two dads it will have a 100% chance of becoming a homicidal, homosexual, psychopath. Good to know
I don't have a family yet. I can't say how people with gayism should be thought of. In Judaism, Gayism, lying, cheating in weighs, and more are considered an abomination. This word is to heavy for the original meaning, yet it does give an opinion that such things lack substance or completion. But I do know that regardless, of how I strongly disapprove of such a lifestyle, that any human being (whether normal or disabled), should be treated with respect at work and in public.
Well gayism is a new word. It relates to culosexuals or heterophobics. I figure that it takes an education to turn the same language that people with gayism use to educate them on how hateful and illogical they are. An eye for an eye better yet a perspective for a perspective.
hmmm, really? That's funny because my ex boyfriend has a son and the mother was doing drugs and so my ex and his son had to leave her. The son knows he is gay and they have the best relationship I've seen with a dad and son. I wish I could have had that kind of relationship with my straight dad, but no, my dad is an asshole.
FACT - Any species (on this planet) that engages in only same sex behaviors becomes extinct within that one generation. Thus, they are defective in some way - period. Therefore, one can soundly move forward to the next step that since Mother Nature (or God, if you prefer) has developed a way to remove defective individuals from the gene pool by way of non-continuation, there is something wrong (defective) with them. So it is either a behavioral choice or a mental defect.
Actually it will be better if 8 passes. Major Southern California companies have prepared to cut off benefits to gays with partners that don't get married...and some don't want to be married. Right now, gays are protected in domestic partnerships. So I guess it can be a problem either way 8 goes.
Im a 28 yearl old straight man. My mother went to jail three times when I was a child, and my father was terribly abusive to my brothers and I. I would TAKE TWO GAY PARENTS that loved me over the horrific parents I had, ANYDAY. Children DESERVE to be loved. Period. NO NO NO on 8. Wake up people!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I would take a father and a mother over two fathers. That's what;'s best, and children deserve what's best. Society needs to step up to the plate, not settle. I'm voting YES on Proposition 8!
I agree. Marriage should be by someone who you love. Not just a man and a woman. You are right. I respect that. Thank you for making a difference. Keep America free. Don't make silly rules.
It is very unfortunate for you that your parents were so far below the ideal, yet that does not mean that we must give up on achieving the idea. That is like saying so many kids drop out of high school, so why to we need to have graduation as a goal.
true. I concur. I oddly have same circumstances as you but I'm 17. They passed it, said yes on prop 8. what will they do now, try to make sure my girlfriend and I can't see each other? Ridiculous.
Children are ENTITLED to be a raised by LOVING PARENTS. Stop trying to exploit children for your own political gains and trying to push your religious beliefs into politics. No on prop 8.
Okey if you "YES" voters wants to use children as toilet paper in these ads be my guest, couse thats what your doing. Its psychologicly and socially proven that children raised in loving homes is psychologicly and physicly healthier, and two same sex parents can be just as loving as any hetrosexual couple.Love is a family value, not hate,VOTE NO ON 8!
"David Blankenhorn,a life-long, pro-gay, liberal democrat who disagrees with the Bibles prohibitions against homosexual behavior. DESPITE THIS view, Blankenhorn makes a powerful case against Same-Sex marriage in his book "The Future of Marriage". He writes, Across history and cultures . . . marriages single most fundamental idea is that every child needs a mother and a father. Changing marriage to accommodate same-sex couples would nullify this principle in culture and in law."
some of those babies are gay. Also, I can't figure out how you could possibly think that gay marriage would cause a baby with straight parents to have that taken away and given gay parents instead.
gay people Just feel wack because they dont have the tools to make a baby...gay people are wack..if you can name one cool Gay person i will email you a Picture of me tap dancing so you can use it to Blackmail me at anytime
I know plenty of people who have children and aren't married.
And I know plenty of people who are married and don't have children.
However, if you're for prop 8 then your against marriage because you fear what a marriage between two people of the same sex will do to the institution of marriage.
However, what you're failing to realize is that divorce is the greatest threat to that institution, not gays. So outlaw that.
Please, Prop 8 proponants, quit trying to make your cause sound positive with words like PRESERVATION and RESTORATION. Your campaign is negative, and should be portrayed as such. Use the word EXCLUSIONARY and DISCRIMINATORY, which is what the campaign is. Nothing has been taken from you by our state constitution. Conversely, you are attempting to EXCLUDE certain people from enjoying rights which you wish to retain. Shameful. VOTE NO ON 8!!!
Does it make me feel better? I have felt fine about my position all along. I am vehemently opposed to discrimination, and apparently, you are not. No, it does not make me feel better that so many people in California wish to change our great state's constitution to exclude people from enjoying their civil rights. In fact, it sickens me. I have been happily married for nearly 30 years, my marriage has not been put in danger, and I think everyone deserves their own shot at the happiness I enjoy.
what? Why would you say something like that? Oh...silly me, you are doing the...ummmm...duhhh....reverse ..ummm....oh is it...psychology? lol still, that was a truly weird comment.
Do you have anything to back up that statistic? What studies? Is there a new test for babies that shows gay or not gay that I haven't heard about?
"Statistics" aside, do you think gay babies should only be raised by guys, or girls? Which parent is unnecessary in the raising of a child? The mother, or the father?
If it is true that every child must have a mommy and a daddy, then are you advocating abortion for all single moms? Or how about a proposition that makes divorce of any couple with children under the age of 18 illegal? Wouldn't these make more sense than worrying about a committed, same sex couple wanting to be married? These commercials that use babies for pandering hatred actually make very little sense.
Those issues are not on the ballot and it is a waste of time to debate them.We are discussing whether marriage should be between a man & a woman or open to anyone. A strong argument for marriage staying between a man & a woman is the fact that children deserve to be raised by a mother and a father. Things happen, a parent dies, selfish people get divorces, women decide just to have a baby, etc. These should be considered 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc, not FIRST like having a father & mother in the home.
Look at all those happy gay babies!! Too bad their mommies and daddies don't think they should be happy and equal!!! Aww!!
Using children to advocate intolerance is disgusting and pitiful. You should all be ashamed. And then all your tubes should be tied to make sure you don't procreate and spread more hateful people around this planet... Oh but jesus loves you!!!!!!!
Well then STOP getting divorced and making your kids only have one parent!
What is so wrong with giving an orphan a 2 parent home? If they love eachother and actually want your discarded child, why deny them a happy home?
Do you really, TRUELY think growing up in a group home surrounded by drugs and gang violence is better than living in a house with 2 parents of the same sex?
doesn't givng these poor kids a good home mean you ARE protecting them?
Yes on 8 - the definition of marriage has everything to do with children. Truly honest people know that the best home for children include a loving father and mother. Is this always the case in the real world - no - but that doesn't mean you destroy the ideal and shoot for the lowest common denominator. The more we lower our standards the faster they degrade.
Did I miss the part in Proposition 8 where it has become a requirement for those wishing to marry to reproduce? Marriage is a contract between two adults, any benefits to families which occur under the auspices of marriage only serve to strengthen those families. By withholing these benefits to those who raise a family but are prohibited from marrying you only serve to weaken those families.
Two thumbs up. Prop 8 isn't about hating homosexuals. I don't hate them and I'm voting yes. Having a a mother and father is the best environment for raising children and they have the right to be raised in the best environment possible.
Proposition 8 has nothing to do with having a mother and a father. It is about two adults entering into a marriage contract. Those same sex couples who wish can, will and do raise families without the protections provided under legal marriage. Marriage would only strengthen these families. Oh, and you are not a friend to homosexuals.
I cannot understand why so many opponents of Prop 8 are so convinced that its supporters hate gay people. I don't, by and large we don't. Just because I disagree on this issue doesn't mean I can't be a good friend, coworker, or neighbor to homosexuals. I disagree with people about all kinds of things and they are still good friends at work, school, church, etc. Disagreeing that marriage needs to be redefined does not mean I hate homosexuals...cuz I don't.
But how many of these disagreements cause you to support the revocation of rights to these people? I did not mention the word hate, that was your inference. I said you are not a friend, and you are not a friend of someone to whom you would relegate to a lesser status in society.
Sorry, the hate thing was a throw back to my original post. I assumed that's what you were referring to. There is a difference between being a friend to a person and being a friend to a cause. I can befriend homosexuals but you're right, I'm not a friend to the cause.
You're also right that most disagreements aren't of this magnitude. This issue is huge and I know it isn't without controversy but my personal beliefs compel me to support the continuance of a traditional definition of marriage.
What are the beliefs and what is your definition of a tradional marriage? Marriage has been constantly changing over the millenia, it would seem under the current definition that you support a revisionist definition of marriage as the right of marriage exists for same sex couples. You wish to exclude, I support inclusion. Marriage is not being redefined, only expanded to be more inclusive. As a society we must learn to support one another.
My definition of traditional marriage is a man and a woman; the way God established in the beginning. I believe the family, established as mentioned above, is central to His plan for our happiness and that only through a strengthening of that traditional family can we strengthen and better our society.
You and your church are free to hold those beliefs independent of Proposition 8. Proposition 8 is about civil marriage. Civil marriage as well will strengthen families and relationships and be better for society. Yes on 8 denies these other couples and families from participating fully in society therefore weakening society.
The problem is the government and the courts don't seem to care that we have a right to hold and exercise those beliefs. When someone sues a religious person or institution because their beliefs interfere with a homosexual agenda, the religious tend to lose. That is wrong, and that violates the first amendment...but it never seems to matter. Legalizing homosexual marriage establishes that homosexuals are a group that deserve special privileges, with that precedent how can religion ever win?
Please cite the cases you reference. You'll probably find that they involve discrimination in the public sector based on religious beliefs. That is wrong. Exactly which special privileges do you reference? The same special privileges that you enjoy?
In addition to my religious beliefs, however, I support Prop 8 because it protects my rights to religion and to teach my kids.
I don't want churches to face loss of tax exemptions (like has happened in NJ), I don't believe gay marriage should be taught in schools (as has happened in MA and San Francisco) and I don't want an onslaught of law suits of people being sued because their religious beliefs clash with gay rights issues (there are numerous cases where this has happened).
Perhaps you need to review the cases you cite. The NJ case, not supported by your inference that Prop 8 would prevent this type of case, it was about public accomodation. Massachussetts, also not relevant, CA has an opt -out option. San Francisco, I'm assuming you reference the class field trip. That was organized by parents and each child had to have a signed permission slip to allow them to attend. What you wish to do is enforce your religious beliefs upon everyone.
Why should the church be forced to accommodate an event that violates their fundamental beliefs? Prop 8 won't prevent this kind of thing but it will help. I know parents approved the field trip but the fact it occurred invalidates the claim that the Yes campaign is lying that this will be taught in schools.
I'm not trying to force my beliefs on anyone, I cited them only because you asked. I'm not telling anyone that they need to believe what I do but my beliefs drive my vote.
Again, read the decision. The church made a practice of accomodating events held by the public in an outdoor pavilion. When an organization offers accomodation to the public they cannot pick and choose which members of the public they will accomodate. Many people within the organization even stood against the decision made by the board to deny use by the two women because they knew it was wrong. And again, CA offers an opt-out for parents who don't wish their children to participate.
And I must, respectfully, disagree that Prop 8 is only about two adults. Marriage affects all those around you and especially kids. There is a lot of social science evidence that shows that social influences that have weakened the traditional family have had a negative impact on society in general. Gay marriage is only the latest of these issues, the sexual revolution, no-fault divorces, and other things have all weakened the traditional family and society.
Exclusion does not strengthen families or society, it only serves to further weaken these institutions by creating a disparity in status of individuals within them.
Let the stupid(i'm sorry homosexuals or lesbians) will try to have a baby.........................i'll wait 4 this miracol

And being gay is ok in many religions.
peaceandrosegirl 10 months ago
@peaceandrosegirl That's true, I've talked to many people who say they're Christians and there's nothing wrong with being gay, I even have a friend on a gay rights website who uses the name "gay Christian". 20 people can read the Bible and 20 people will say something different about it. How can anyone be so sure what that book says? It's been translated so many times the original translation is gone. There have already been gay marriages and nothing bad happened to anyone.
Poochalot 10 months ago
@Poochalot I agree. My cousin is gay and he is a Christian. And pretty much every other country in the world has allowed gay marriage and many of them are doing a heck of a lot better than the U.S. What are we afraid of?
peaceandrosegirl 10 months ago
@peaceandrosegirl What people are afraid of are their own homosexual feelings. Most people (if not all) have a few same-sex desires and it's those desires that scare people so much. Have you ever heard of the Kinsey scale? It's a very good way to measure an individuals level of bisexuality. I took an online test based on the Kinsey scale a few years ago, it said I was heterosexual with bisexual tendencies; which sounded right to me. It's just human nature, but people are afraid of it.
Poochalot 10 months ago
@Poochalot so im not the only one that got the hint of sarcasm in that statement from peaceandrosegirl
idaman12345 10 months ago
@idaman12345 There could be some sarcasm in that, seeing as how she pointed out that many heterosexual parents abuse their children but that would be so much better than being raised by a same-sex couple.
Poochalot 10 months ago
@jooooooooooll Thanks! It's good to know there are so many people who can see that love knows no gender line.
Poochalot 11 months ago
@jooooooooooll Its not likely. If they do not have psychologcal issues or abuse problems they should grow up to be normal individuals. One may end up being gay if it is sexually abused and its normal sexual compass is wrecked. Barring psychological issues they will be straight. :)
bobybob10000 11 months ago
@bobybob10000 No that's not true, ask any medical professional (or you can check the website of the APA) and it will tell you that no link between homosexuality and sexual abuse has ever been found. The truth is the majority of people aren't heterosexual or homosexual, most of us have a level of bisexuality; the majority of that bisexual group leans towards heterosexuality, however there are those who lean towards homosexuality because they're born that way.
Poochalot 11 months ago
I also hope this is satire, otherwise it's absolute bullshit. You know, nobody has ever spelled out exactly what is threatened. My theory is that these folks just hate gay people, and hate the prospect of having to acknowledge us on the street as real people, or see us on the subway behaving as *gasp* a loving couple. Not me.

lol what a simple question to answer, with your thoughts hoping i would say "god" or the "creator", but no my parents created me you wanna know how? well i'll tell you, my dad stuck his dick in my mom, ejaculated and fertalized an egg and that egg then grew and became me, no magical happening just simple sience! Evolutiona exist! lol another thing is who created the creator? was he just there? that doesn't make sense?!?!? can anyone explain this to me???
gsmillie1989 2 years ago
@gsmillie1989
The Creator is eternal and exists outside time, therefore has no beginning or end. The Creator has always been. All created things exist within time. As beings created within time it is hard for us to grasp concepts of eternal existence outside of time. However, just because they are hard to grasp does not mean they do not exist.
Beacon342 2 years ago
Can you answer this then... Why are there so many other religions that predate jesus that have the same exact stories in them? Such as; Buddha, Krishna, Odysseus, Romulus, Dionysus, Heracles, Glycon, Zoroaster/Zarathrustra, Attis of Phygia, And Horus, these are just ten examples there are plenty more.
gsmillie1989 2 years ago
Similar stories or concepts (i.e. treat other as you would like for them to treat you, which was a concept that predated Jesus) don't really authenticate or detract from the authentication of a later tradition. They just show that that concern is prevelant throughout time and culture. What is different about Christianity is that it has as its central theme the humiliation of its God. There is no other religion before or since that contains that concept.
Beacon342 2 years ago
Wait so you're saying since Christians humiliate their god that it is real? How does this make any sense? By the way, showing that there were stories of similar gods that predated jesus and christianity do detract from the authentication of there really being a god, simply stated, Because there are other gods that predate jesus, there has obviously been a new creation of the same god as before, just with a different name, showing that christianity, Judaism, catholicism, etc are a hoax.

this is complete shit. protecting babies?! if you actually cared about young children youd know that same sex couples adopt children that have no where to go, while hetero couples are more likely to produce an unwanted child. if you were really about love then you should try loving everyone, not just straight people. putting a bunch of cute babies on the internet doesent allow you to put the phrase "protect the babies" and make your point. try thinking before you post something like this.

these morons are just hiding behind children and using them to justify their bigotry. another video says that only marriage ordained in a church is truly sacred and will survive which is absolute bullshit. i heard that jesus' first words to his disciples were "the kingdom of god is inside you and all around you - not in mansions of wood and stone". i'm no theist but that actually makes perfect sense. god is a personal belief, not a monopoly controlled by he who has the biggest church.

I know some kids raised by a lesbian couple and they are sweet, bright, polite, active children, a boy and girl, both who go to my mom's episcopal church. They certainly turned out better than alot of kids I've met.

"Babies have a right to a mommy and a daddy."
Because...? Obvoiously many babies the world over have only one of those and too many have none. But the point is still irrelevant to Proposition 8. People are legally allowed to have babies even if they are single and/or unmarried. Married people are not legally required to have babies. Marriage is not about babies it is about a loving partnership.

Hertzogger, you are a real dumb ass. You did not defend Brian's point which I refuted. For clarity sake heres the argument brake down:
Brian: Children need both a mom and a dad
Me: Divorce rates are quite high so that means there are plenty of single parents doing alright. And that 2's better than 1
Hertz: Gays have a higher divorce rate thus should not marry
Me: Divorce rates vary due to a number of factors. Should we deny rights to persons of a religion or race if their group has higher rates?

The only people of faith who condemn homosexuals are hypocrites. In the book of Lev, shell fish, crop rotation and blended clothing are banned, but these are all part of our every day lives. It's obvious that these "people of faith" are nothing more than intolerant people who not only are close minded, but use their God as a weapon rather than as a blessing. Shame on you, conservative Christians, for demeaning a once great religion.

This is what I have against the so called open minded people for gay marriage. You might want to study some, God is smarter than you.

Prop 8 is about defining marriage.

Gay babies should be killed! Vote yes on prop 8!
antlerman 3 years ago
Studies show that 10% of these babies are already gay. (50% higher for the twin)
dimint 3 years ago
Do you have anything to back up that statistic? What studies? Is there a new test for babies that shows gay or not gay that I haven't heard about?
"Statistics" aside, do you think gay babies should only be raised by guys, or girls? Which parent is unnecessary in the raising of a child? The mother, or the father?
uamilashka 3 years ago
And isn't ironic that this video is gay
antlerman 3 years ago
This video is moronic. Gay people (from what I understand)have sworn off raping babies. Get with he times!
antlerman 3 years ago
From the sound of your comments, it does sound like you know moronic very well.
If "the times" involve the destruction of the traditional family, I certainly don't want to get with them.
I'm voting YES on proposition 8!
uamilashka 3 years ago
If it is true that every child must have a mommy and a daddy, then are you advocating abortion for all single moms? Or how about a proposition that makes divorce of any couple with children under the age of 18 illegal? Wouldn't these make more sense than worrying about a committed, same sex couple wanting to be married? These commercials that use babies for pandering hatred actually make very little sense.
GltrGal17 3 years ago

Do you really, TRUELY think growing up in a group home surrounded by drugs and gang violence is better than living in a house with 2 parents of the same sex?
doesn't givng these poor kids a good home mean you ARE protecting them?
pattygurl 3 years ago
Babies have a right to parents in the first place. Surely, in the case of orphans, aren't two daddies better than no parents at all?

I know Gaven Newsom gets around but half of these kids look like him.
phineastbuster 3 years ago
Yes on 8 - the definition of marriage has everything to do with children. Truly honest people know that the best home for children include a loving father and mother. Is this always the case in the real world - no - but that doesn't mean you destroy the ideal and shoot for the lowest common denominator. The more we lower our standards the faster they degrade.
ILuvColinFirth 3 years ago
Did I miss the part in Proposition 8 where it has become a requirement for those wishing to marry to reproduce? Marriage is a contract between two adults, any benefits to families which occur under the auspices of marriage only serve to strengthen those families. By withholing these benefits to those who raise a family but are prohibited from marrying you only serve to weaken those families.

Yes on prop 8!
GuilelessMom 3 years ago
Two thumbs up. Prop 8 isn't about hating homosexuals. I don't hate them and I'm voting yes. Having a a mother and father is the best environment for raising children and they have the right to be raised in the best environment possible.
shooterusa17 3 years ago
Proposition 8 has nothing to do with having a mother and a father. It is about two adults entering into a marriage contract. Those same sex couples who wish can, will and do raise families without the protections provided under legal marriage. Marriage would only strengthen these families. Oh, and you are not a friend to homosexuals.
sammyseattle 3 years ago
I cannot understand why so many opponents of Prop 8 are so convinced that its supporters hate gay people. I don't, by and large we don't. Just because I disagree on this issue doesn't mean I can't be a good friend, coworker, or neighbor to homosexuals. I disagree with people about all kinds of things and they are still good friends at work, school, church, etc. Disagreeing that marriage needs to be redefined does not mean I hate homosexuals...cuz I don't.
shooterusa17 3 years ago
But how many of these disagreements cause you to support the revocation of rights to these people? I did not mention the word hate, that was your inference. I said you are not a friend, and you are not a friend of someone to whom you would relegate to a lesser status in society.
sammyseattle 3 years ago
Sorry, the hate thing was a throw back to my original post. I assumed that's what you were referring to. There is a difference between being a friend to a person and being a friend to a cause. I can befriend homosexuals but you're right, I'm not a friend to the cause.
You're also right that most disagreements aren't of this magnitude. This issue is huge and I know it isn't without controversy but my personal beliefs compel me to support the continuance of a traditional definition of marriage.
shooterusa17 3 years ago
What are the beliefs and what is your definition of a tradional marriage? Marriage has been constantly changing over the millenia, it would seem under the current definition that you support a revisionist definition of marriage as the right of marriage exists for same sex couples. You wish to exclude, I support inclusion. Marriage is not being redefined, only expanded to be more inclusive. As a society we must learn to support one another.
sammyseattle 3 years ago
My definition of traditional marriage is a man and a woman; the way God established in the beginning. I believe the family, established as mentioned above, is central to His plan for our happiness and that only through a strengthening of that traditional family can we strengthen and better our society.
shooterusa17 3 years ago
You and your church are free to hold those beliefs independent of Proposition 8. Proposition 8 is about civil marriage. Civil marriage as well will strengthen families and relationships and be better for society. Yes on 8 denies these other couples and families from participating fully in society therefore weakening society.
sammyseattle 3 years ago
The problem is the government and the courts don't seem to care that we have a right to hold and exercise those beliefs. When someone sues a religious person or institution because their beliefs interfere with a homosexual agenda, the religious tend to lose. That is wrong, and that violates the first amendment...but it never seems to matter. Legalizing homosexual marriage establishes that homosexuals are a group that deserve special privileges, with that precedent how can religion ever win?
shooterusa17 3 years ago
Please cite the cases you reference. You'll probably find that they involve discrimination in the public sector based on religious beliefs. That is wrong. Exactly which special privileges do you reference? The same special privileges that you enjoy?
sammyseattle 3 years ago
In addition to my religious beliefs, however, I support Prop 8 because it protects my rights to religion and to teach my kids.
I don't want churches to face loss of tax exemptions (like has happened in NJ), I don't believe gay marriage should be taught in schools (as has happened in MA and San Francisco) and I don't want an onslaught of law suits of people being sued because their religious beliefs clash with gay rights issues (there are numerous cases where this has happened).
shooterusa17 3 years ago
Perhaps you need to review the cases you cite. The NJ case, not supported by your inference that Prop 8 would prevent this type of case, it was about public accomodation. Massachussetts, also not relevant, CA has an opt -out option. San Francisco, I'm assuming you reference the class field trip. That was organized by parents and each child had to have a signed permission slip to allow them to attend. What you wish to do is enforce your religious beliefs upon everyone.
sammyseattle 3 years ago
Why should the church be forced to accommodate an event that violates their fundamental beliefs? Prop 8 won't prevent this kind of thing but it will help. I know parents approved the field trip but the fact it occurred invalidates the claim that the Yes campaign is lying that this will be taught in schools.
I'm not trying to force my beliefs on anyone, I cited them only because you asked. I'm not telling anyone that they need to believe what I do but my beliefs drive my vote.
shooterusa17 3 years ago
Again, read the decision. The church made a practice of accomodating events held by the public in an outdoor pavilion. When an organization offers accomodation to the public they cannot pick and choose which members of the public they will accomodate. Many people within the organization even stood against the decision made by the board to deny use by the two women because they knew it was wrong. And again, CA offers an opt-out for parents who don't wish their children to participate.
sammyseattle 3 years ago
And I must, respectfully, disagree that Prop 8 is only about two adults. Marriage affects all those around you and especially kids. There is a lot of social science evidence that shows that social influences that have weakened the traditional family have had a negative impact on society in general. Gay marriage is only the latest of these issues, the sexual revolution, no-fault divorces, and other things have all weakened the traditional family and society.
shooterusa17 3 years ago
Exclusion does not strengthen families or society, it only serves to further weaken these institutions by creating a disparity in status of individuals within them.
