I was in a car crash on April 28th, in a 1997 Ford SUV. I hit a tree and uprooted it at over 70 MPH. I also flipped my car three times. I survived with a broken collarbone and abrasians on my face. The danger of safer cars is that people like you are not removed from the gene pool. The idea, my friend, is that with a vehicle that is not top heavy it is possible to not have so many crashes in the first place, and then not roll over. You, with your top=heavy SUV, had the crash and rolled over, yet you still don't understand physics and statistics.

by that... umn... "logic" you need a tank, or learn to drive better. Also, had you owned a smaller car its inertia wouldn't have been so great so in fact you would NOT have hit the tree as hard since the friction would have slowed you down faster. And while in your 'tank' in some cases you would not slow down as much because of your MASS other vehicles and pedestrians are in a lot more danger because of you, but i guess that's all that matters to a child, themselves.

Steve Ducy is absolutely right. When the government steppes in and says "you ahve to make a car with x miles per gallon," companies are forced to make smaller cars that are more fuel efficient. Not only does this maddening regulation drive the rpices of cars up, but they also make for less safe cars. FACT: SUV's and trucks. are safer in car accidents then smaller cars? Why? because all that metle shields you from the impact of hitting a tree or hitting the road as the car flips.
Yeah, not to mention over in Europe there are places with no speed limits. Take out accidents on those highways and Europe's death rate on the roads is even lower.
