@thebigfoote01, yes it is illegal not only in NC, but in all states. unless you apply for a ethanol license from the federal gov. what your basically saying is your using it for fuel not for consumption. then you can use it for personal use.
@kybourbon1 Distilling is what's illegal. The jail house liquor method (hooch) is legal in 50 states. Basically just drink the mash without distillation.
