  • THE GOD.

  • i cant see his fingers!!!

  • I Love how he picks up the guitar and plays the hell out of it, and makes it sound amazing..

  • srv è uno dei pochi che permettersi di suonare voodoo child

  • see you in the next world SRV!

  • That is one badass guitar!

  • nobody is better. they are all unique in their own way!!!

  • u can´t compare guitar players... cause when u play its your soul speaking through the strings... clapton couldnt play like rv ansrv couldnt play like clapton. just enjoy a master playing the song of another master

  • Its just hard to understand how anyone can be this damn awsome, this man should have citys and airports and schools named after him! Stevie ray Vaughan should be in the Rock and roll hall of fame its a travesty that he isnt.

  • @savage3960 I think that RnR hall of fame has a policy that says that an artist can only be inducted 25 years after the artists first record, I think Stevie's first record came out in 1983(correct me if im wrong) so he has'nt been on the ballot too many years. But i agree he definitely should be inducted ASAP

  • Stevie could definitely hear Jimi. Two masters gone way too soon. Rest in peace brothers.

  • a great man playing another great man's song

  • The Fender was made for Stevie!!!!! It will never sound the same again!!!!

  • ey watch out for those super spicy voodoo chile peppers....

  • Dicky Betts was once asked who was better, him or Duane Allman. Dicky replied that this guitar playing thing is not a competition. 'We don't keep score.'

  • its like the white version of the song.

  • How in the Hell are there ANY dislikes on here?

  • @GatorMike1516 they all into brittany spears

  • @smOkinstrat, well ty for the correction, srv was my era,i was 5 when jimi died, lol

  • @stvnlee300 i was born 22 years after jimi died lol.

  • it is irrelevant to argue who is better than who when dealing with different eras. stevie was a huge fan of jimi, idolized him actually. as we all do with our idols, we take something from them and try and improve on it. so in turn we do something "better", but we did not innovate. just as there are many guitarists out there who idolize srv, they will not be better, but might advance his style, and innovate their own style.

  • @joscamp25, hendrix wrote it, performed it, and recorded it on heroin. so no finger pointing.

  • @stvnlee300 jimi wasnt too big on the heroin. its a fact that he was never addicted. he loved his LSD tho.

  • Voodoo chile on coke o___O

  • I will not venture as far as to say that Stevie was "better" than Jimi. But I will gladly say that talent is talent no matter how you look at it. SRV has been playing the "closest" version of VooDoo Chile for as long as he has been discovered and that says something for a man who went professional as a younger 20s guitarist.

  • La voz no me gusta parece a la vieja que vende huevos

  • @chilemagallanico Come verga puto

  • @chimbolo89 Ok.

  • wouuuuuuuh :)

  • i stopped calling this a cover Stevie made it his own as far as im concerned Hendrix and Stevie wrote two different songs called voodoo child

  • You guys can go on with your whos better crap. But tell ya this, they would of had a blast jamming together and would not give a rats ass who was better. Nuff said......

  • @bassplayer4445 damn right man and stevie could have played the same licks over and over all day and run circles around guys who play with no feeling today

  • @bassplayer4445

I agree with you, but here's a fun little factoid:

Eric Clapton told Stevie Ray Vaughan that he was "the best guitar player [he] ever heard". This happened at Alpine Valley, backstage, the night Stevie died. Four people can confirm that statement: Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan, and Keri Leigh, who is the person that was helping him write his autobiography. It's documented fact. Eric Clapton knew both Hendrix and SRV, and said SRV was the best.

  • @cavalrytm But what I don't understand is why Eric Clapton can decide who's the best? Is he the best then?

  • @mastertgd

For the record, I love both, but I would also go with SRV if I had to, based on what I've seen and the rare bootlegs I've been lucky enough to hear (and there's apparently an underground bootleg coming out soon that's attempting to show the world how good SRV really was).

Having said that, yeah... Eric Clapton is qualified to decide. He knew both guys personally. He's arguably the most accomplished guitarist alive / guitar royalty. His recommendation speaks volumes.

  • @cavalrytm so, what makes ray vaughan better than hendrix? and what is the criteria that your basing your opinion off of when u say "based on what i've seen and rare bootlegs"? is it his guitar playing/skills? songwriting/compostion? overrall musicianship? overrall showmanship? creativity? originality? feeling? or all the above?

  • @TheCityofgood

Good question. I was a diehard Hendrix fan and was surprised when I heard SRV the first time. They are so similar that it's frightening. Hendrix is arguably considered the tip of the spear by the majority, and there I was surprised that there was another like him!

So, I went on a hunt and found some incredible rare SRV shows that changed my opinion, bumping him into the lead. Performances that went beyond Hendrix. Impossible to describe. Hair on my neck stood up!

  • @cavalrytm fair enough. cant be mad at a person who would consider vaughan to be ahead of hendrix in some capacity and provide some good reasons as to why.

  • @TheCityofgood

It's all good, dude. I just hope this supposed underground SRV bootleg finally comes out and it does what it says it's going to do. Apparently 30 of the 40 tracks have "never been heard by the majority of people" before. Might change some people's opinions of him. God knows all they ever play is the same old same old on the radio.

  • @cavalrytm yeah i mean i personally dont believe in calling any artist to be the best or being better than another (like its a fact and like music is a sport when its not) but i do believe that u can have favorites and u can favor someone over everyone else. my most favorite is gallagher but i wouldnt say hes better than anyone. He might impress me and float my musical boat the most, however i understand their are other great musicians whos made some great contributions to music.

  • @cavalrytm anyhow enough about that, its the first time that hearing about this project that u are talking about and the way u are describing it, it sounds very promising. Im down for anything vaughan related so i hope it comes out as well haha

  • @cavalrytm anyhow thanks for ur honesty and thanks for the heads up on these srv bootlegs u are talking about. peace!

  • @mastertgd Gilmore is the best. but who's comparing who???

  • @happy04346 get out. maybe to u but not to everyone else. i like gilmour too but there are too many other great musicians for me or anyone to just put above everyone else so really, no point in arguing/claiming whos the best of the best

  • @TheCityofgood thanks brother for taking the bait, I agree, tat's why I said "who's comparing who" all of these musicians have their own style and each style is unquie in themselves so to say someone is better it can't be done. I love Claption Billy from Zz Tops, Chelby Lynn Muddy Waters SRV. But if I were to take my last 20 bucks, to spend on a dvd, it would be for PF.

  • @happy04346 i kinda knew your comment was set up as bait for some kind of reason so i took the bait to see what u would say and i agree as well. Also about spending your last few bucks on PF, fair enough. Cant go wrong with the floyd haha

  • @bassplayer4445 thank you! u should go over to the couldnt stand the weather video with 400,000 plus views and say that to the guys over there too.

  • I like Stevies sound better.

  • Hendrix is better. Nuf sed.

  • Awsome guitar solo. Can't compare srv toHendrix. Like comparing a 1971 Z-28 to a 1996 SS Impala. Both awsome cars but not in the same arena. I love them both,,,,,the guitar players and the cars.

  • elindeki strata kurban

  • @WALLAH00F To say that no one will ever come close to being as talented as Hendrix is completely assanine. You seriously will sit there with a straight face and say a guy from the 60's is better than every guy after him? He was indeed innovative, but he couldn't sing in tune and you know as well as I do that's a major part of the performance

  • @SuperIce45 regardless if he could sing "well" or not, it sounded good. Most likely why he was one of the biggest and most successful musicians for the whole 3 years or so that he went noticed.

  • @SuperIce45 Did I just hear another meathead so full of shit as this SuperIce45. Yes, a guy from the 60's is not only better, but light years ahead of any one after him... Jimi Hendrix. Some guys just refuse to wake up WALLAHOOF. SRV is a legend also.

  • @SuperIce45 spelling asinine, "assanine" is pretty asinine

P.S. Hendrix sang pretty damn well

  • srv can be said as best guitarist wid best soul ... but jimi was inhuman

  • joe satriana just does not get it

  • both guitar players are my favorites hendrix came out with sounds that no one ever heard b4 and stevie ray vaughn played with an intensity that will never replocated and jimi said that after he died he wanted people to play his stuff and go crazy stevie is doing that

  • OMFG Just listen to thie improve in this performance, who needs to make a comaprison to anyone. Listen to the lead structure and the chord improv, no one not even ERIC could do this shit.

  • All good ones are gone.

  • This is like the Kama Sutra for eargasms.

  • i think if there was some who possessed vaughan's skill and hendrix's creativity and soul

    the universe would explode!

  • dunno bout better, think people payin homage like this should be allowed to, without gettin shit. this is a f'in epic version and payin homage at same time.

  • Anybody who compares Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix and has nerve to say that one is better than the other. That I don't understand. You are comparing apples and oranges, and while you may prefer one and that is your choice, superstars like Vaughan and Hendrix are both supertalent and each had something very different to offer. That's all I'm going to say.

  • 1080ppl like this video. Should'nt the video then have 1080p resolution?

  • SRV's version or Hendrix's? I can't decide! I like 'em both!

  • it's Voodoo CHILD ... CHILD with a big D, not chile that a fucking country moron

  • @shakar92 Nope, well Jimi used to call this VOODOO CHILD but Stevie used to call it VOODOO CHILE. And it's not CHILE(Chi-lee) it's CHILE(Child)

  • he's just that cool awesome video thank you !!

  • Apparently 4 people here are Justin Bieber fans...

  • its Voodoo Chile and Voodoo Child (Slight Return) but whos complaining just listen

  • CHILD for Christs sake

  • @Qoooba95

It actually is Chile. You can read up on Wikipedia if need be.

  • my hands get tired just watching him

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan would love to see his videos on here.He was the best guitar player in the world.

  • a Legend, covering a Legend

  • Look at his first time at Austin City Limits (addicted) and compare it to his 2nd visit to Austin City Limits (sober) such an amazing difference for so many reasons. SRV was God walking the earth as a guitar player. I look forward to seeing him again. What a tragic loss for me to this day!

  • WATCH MY COVER ON MY CHANNEL !!

  • Wow! That young man plays very well I must say.

  • if you like this check blues puppy verion out he only 15 a plays the song very good

  • Comparing anybody to jimi Hendrix is like comparing oneself to the baby jesus. But if anybody can bask in the light of jimi Hendrix it’s SRV !

  • Holy shit, that outtro made the hair on my arms reach out for him somewhere above.

  • Absofreakinlutely beautiful !!! Every note clean and clear as a bell. Even Jimmi couldn't do that. He would even occasionally hit a fuzzy note.

  • ...MAGIC !....

  • I'll admit SRV was an amazing guitarist. But really? I find it hard to respect peoples opinions when It comes to SRV being better then Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix took guitar playing to a whole new level. He made sounds that made you think to the future, around 20 years into the future. I saw him play, and honestly, no-one in the world, will ever come close to having the talent Hendrix possesed, it wasn't human what he could do on guitar. N-one will ever come close, to being as good as Jimi Hendrix.

  • @WALLAH00F But wasn't Hendrix notorious for buying pedals (he commissioned and paid ridiculous prices for his specific demands as far as tone/gain/presence/distortion requirements). So to say that Hendrix was above "human" ability...well, just saying!

  • @WALLAH00F A dozen guitarists have come close, and to disrespect every opinion that doesn't coincide with yours is childish. Jimi's own personal favourite guitarist was Billy Gibbons. It's NOT a pissing contest.

  • @WALLAH00F There are plenty of amazing, groundbreaking guitarists in this world. Jimi Hendrix was truly inventive and inspirational BUT, he was NOT the be-all, end-all guitar player, no matter how much you want him to be. Don't be so narrow minded.

  • @WALLAH00F Dude!!!!! lol how can you compare 2 greats like that? SRV was a way smoother guitarist. Hendrix was a freak but im telling you now! SRV Had some much more to offer! SRV is the greatest blues guitarists that ever lived ask all the guitar greats! they will tell you the same thing!

  • @alecindaclub are you one of these supposed "guitar greats?"

  • @WALLAH00F Enjoy the music. Less QQ more Voodoo.

  • @WALLAH00F Music is subjective. Its like comparing apples and grapes. But thx for your opinion.

  • @WALLAH00F

its not talent that hendrix possessed. it is the ability to play something that he feeels is right. stevie could not read music but he could play his heart out enough to play his soul sou go fuck your self into the oblivion that we call life.

  • @WALLAH00F

Hendrix always struck me as "sloppy" -- missed notes all the time, wasn't clear in his "pronunciation"

SRV on the other hand was like a lazer, the guy never ever missed and was always clear.

  • @WALLAH00F were u tripping on acid,

  • @WALLAH00F As much as I love SRV to death, I have to admit the same. No one... not anyone even today comes close to Jimi. Even Van Halen and Satriani are way below the two legends... SRV and Jimi.

  • @facereto 100% agree.....Van Halen is good....GOOD...not close to these guys though and Satch...I love him, but he doesn't carry the emotion these guys do...he a flawless technician.....:)

  • why does music have to always be who has the bigger dick if you like jimi better great listen to him dont bitch on how is the better player

  • Comment removed

  • @WALLAH00F To ignore the genius that is SRV is negligent in a fan of the great guitarists. Stevie and Jimi share a spot at the top.....Just saying Stevie's covers of Hendrix tunes were hair raising tributes to a guitar god. Stevie deserves to share that title with Hendrix....they were both channels of the music gods and well above the rest of those guitar greats. They were both special and gone way too soon.

  • @WALLAH00F SRV is funny compared to hendrix and hendrix is funny compared to SKYDOG and every guitarist in the world is lame to mr.robert johnson the man

  • @WALLAH00F I think Stevie would be first to admit that as well. He was an incredibly humble guy given the monstrous talent he had.

  • @WALLAH00F Jimi Hendrix said in an Interview for an English music magazine, that SRV was the greatest guitarist he had ever seen, Can't argue with a statement like that :)

  • @mattlizard29 What????

  • @mattlizard29 Mate are you high? Jimi Hendrix died when SRV was 16. SRV was hardly even famous when he was 16. He just played at local places with a few bands. Hendrix never would of heard of him. I've realised that both these legends would hate us saying that one or the other is better. Jimi said and I quote, "I don't compare, its where we make our biggest mistakes Trying to put our ego against another persons." Both of them would hate us saying who's better.

  • R.I.P Stevie

  • what a great tone

  • That Tube Screamer needed more overdrive at 2:25

  • insaneeee!

  • How the hell do you do that... 0:45 - 0:50?

  • @5ilent5am hes doing it with a wah pedal but you can use your pickup switch. put the tone u use for the hole song at 10 and the other one at zero. when you bend the 2nd fret of the g string you start moving the switch up and down fast and youll get tath sound

  • @5ilent5am You hold that bend and you tap your wahwah pedal. An other option is to flick your ''pickupselecter'' up and down

  • @5ilent5am he is flexing the guitar or bending it making it go flat

  • @5ilent5am Bend the G string, while hitting the wah repeatedly with your foot. Pretty simple really :)

  • @anonymouslolxD No, hes NOT hitting the wah hes tapping the Octavia pedal repeatly.

you can watch this video /watch?v=OWfrKLWZSDk (at 1.43) :D

I had try that it's really hard to do.

  • @Nobasic53 Huh well I never knew that. Still think it sounds like a wah though haha

  • @Nobasic53 He never had an Octavia. He's nailing the on-off on a wah wah.

  • @harley9967 I'm SURE it's an Octavia pedal because as you can see at the intro wah is not at the same place and why you would have 2 wah pedals. Stevie used Octavia alot since later 1989-1990 and wah doesn't sound like that. He used Octavia in Texas Flood as well(late 80s) Peace. :D

  • @Nobasic53 I used to use 2 wah pedals.

But then I'm weird like that sometimes lol.

  • @Nobasic53 Cool, I'll take your word for it. Thanks for digging good music.

  • He really was the best of the best, no doubt

  • the best of all versions, period!!

  • Have said and will always say SRV FTW 99 out of 100 ^_^

  • this is the only case where im about to track down the 3 dislikes knockem the fuck out

  • that's a hell of a lot of sound for a three-piece band

  • Why is his whammy bar above the strings?

  • @SuperNesmaster Stevie liked a reverse/lefty tremolo bar because when he went crazy and started whammying a lot if it was in it's regular position it would tear his shirt sleeves up. That and it gives it that Hendrix vibe

  • Grandissimo!!!!!!!!!

  • FUCK BIEBER. THIS GUY IS A FUCKIN LEGEND

  • Even Hendrix would like it...

  • A true legend was taken from us when his plane went down......

This video shows the power, the guts, and the man that Stevie Ray was.

  • @MsCanadiancougar He never died in a plane crash. The helicopter he was in crashed into the side of a hill at Alpine Valley ski resort, Wisconsin. I was there that night.

  • A legend! I miss him.

  • If he was still alive, blues would still be alive too.

  • @HarrisonIsDaBomb well its still alive but just about to die

  • Jesus Christ! After watching this I feel like I've witnessed something holy.

  • delicate raw power, heavy metal, soulful, intense,...,... or just Stevie Ray Vaughan

  • Comment removed

  • E tem uns merdar que ainda curtem qualquer outa coisa!!!

  • More uptempo than other versions I've heard him play. A lot more funky than bluesy. I like this a lot, thanks for posting the clip!

  • Good god it's like SRV is pushing No 1 to the limit

  • Phil Keaggy blows this guy away...

  • @jasonkritz lulz

  • @jasonkritz Well you got half of it right Phil Keaggy BLOWS!! Although he's good if im in an elevator in Manhatten going to the 110th floor.

  • @jasonkritz And you blow Phil Keaggy. Now be quiet and/or get lost, dummy.

  • Best ever use of feed back now that is Soul in the guitar

  • the best of the bests of the bests

  • @Sano Shimano,

It's because Stevie was the god of guitar ;)

  • Those are .13 strings. HOW THA FUCK IS HE BENDING THEM SO EFFORTLESSLY!??!!?!?

  • the cover of "Mary Had A little Lamb" in this dvd is amazing too !

  • Sure the best cover ever ! The final is awesome !!!

  • CHILE RULZ!

  • where does this fuckin sustain comin from ? Best Cover ever

  • Pilot error took the life of Stevie Ray!

  • What A FUCKING BOSS

  • its pains me to know that i could play for 1000 years and still never be this good.

  • The Mozart of Blues. nuff said

  • Absolutely he would have wanted it !

  • forget clapton's woman tone, stevie's brutal man tone is amazing

  • @MrJawbear the woman tone is for... well you know where this is going.

  • God took all of the music out of this world for me when He took Stevie, for he was too supernatural to stay here.

  • if he was a bug he'd be the bees knees arms legs and head!!!
