Hmm a lot of the artist here have good points. I like old school and have a page here that has mostly old school hiphop but I don't hate the new school. I think one of the main diffrences between the 2 is the time eras/seasons the music was made- one of the diffrences/ 2010 is definately diffrent than 1986 in a lot of ways but some things never change.(like finding ways to make money for example- some choose/chose ethical ways and some maybe not all the way ethical just since it get/got done)

I fully agree with KRS-ONE, hip hop is virtually lackluster and lost all of its raw edge and creativity that it once had, much like many other genres out there today, it commercialism and fake images to get people to buy their albums because theyre weak minded, like 90% of my generation, thinking so and so is the best ever and dont realize that the quality and talent is complete bullshit. sometimes it feels like im the only of my gen. to actually like old school music in general.

I stopped producing beats just because I don't like any of the people out there anymore. There are great lyricists that tell stories, or have amazing vocabulary, metaphors, rhymes, but NONE of them are famous or known simply because all of you people (the entire world) would rather have a gimmick, or someone with a six pack, or someone who pepsi endorses. Hip hop, entirely, is garbage now, and it will never be anything near what it once was. Next will be Rock.

That guy talking at 2:30 doesn't know what's he talking about. "Old school HipHop" was all about sampling, yet he says "there wasn't alot of sampling. Another thing: technology is what pratically allowed HipHop to be what it was. The use of turntables enabled Djs to mix, scratch, and beat match songs thus HipHop rose.

I'm a 17 year old kid from Provo, Utah. That has to be one of the whitest parts of the U.S. There really isn't a Hip Hop scene there. I moved to Pompano Beach, Florida where my eyes where opened to raw rap. I love the cold school era, that's what I live for. Nas, Pac, Big, KRS, Mobb, Ice Cube/T, all of them. I also love Jeezy and Khalifa. I'm sitting here pouring my heart, soul and mind from ink to paper. Hip Hop isn't dead cause there's still kids like me that keep it real and go hard.
