when I was young I've asked my brother what they were singing about. And he told me "sometimes really weird things but the main thing is to treat metal music(or anything else) as an entirety. I mean the voice and the words, sentences should be an instrument for you". And he was right, I do it nowadays too. It gives some kind of freedom.
