it really bugs me that the man has died. id love to hear his thoughts on current events and the drastic shifts our culture has taken in recent times and surely the ones to come. maybe that's a bit selfish of me but i have to admit, im addicted to him.

Terence McKenna is truly a beacon of inspiration to me in my life. He's been a huge part of my personal growth. I really love the man. Reading his words or listening to him speak, he exudes this air of gentleness and wisdom, something that I can only think to term "old-soul humor", a "vibe" pregnant with meaning above and beyond the content of what he's explicitly saying. It deeply saddens me that he's passed on, that I won't get the opportunity to ever meet him and speak with him in person.

If anyone wants to be a christian, or belong to any religion thats up to them. But the fact is that any true deep change, healing and sanity can only happen in the individual, therefore any collective movement(like religion) is only a barrier or a distraction between the individual and himself. That religion gives many people a sense of safety doesnt change that fact. Connect with your own unconscious, for in there lies your own wholeness of being.

I kind of agree.....up until you say that this can be used with religion. Religion is perfect, me being a Christian, trying to change the structure or relationship between human beings and god is unethical. Plus saying that the plant can be seen as a SOURCE of religion is basically pagan to ANY major religion of our time.

@JohnRivers8 Just because you may think it pagan (which it is, and so what?) doesn't make it untrue. Shamanism is the precursor to ALL religions. That your Christianity keeps your thinking inside a very small box is no great revelation, that's what it's designed to do and to cut you off from the true source. It's the major religions that are a bastardisation and blasphemy of our shamanic origins.
