Sinatra had class? I don't think so, nor was he a great singer ( his range...A-B ). What he was...a sound, an attitude, a look that pleased white Americans & caught on with Europeans, much like Crosby & Presley.
Americans don't have "class"...they have attitude. He sold a song, he didn't sing it. Americans are great wingers. It really is not about singing ability, it's about selling an idea, a look & a glance. Smoke & mirrors backed by millions of bucks.
@DidloDurante ...seriously though -thank you so much for sharing the wisdom of your insights into Mr Sinatra -I think we can all learn from reading and re-reading your thoughtful words "Americans don't have class" -really, are you honestly 40 years old? "his range A-B" -what? -just two notes? "he sold a song, he didn't sing it". I'm sorry but you must go back to school asap!
Bill Blythe (Clinton) was successful at furthering David Rockefeller's New World Order agenda. He's brought us a smidgen closer to planetary enslavement.
there were many sides to frank , he was a great performer , there were also many untrue things said about him , but that goes with the celebrity lifestyle , what a life he had , i would have loved to sit and listen to all the stories he could tell
Golden words from a Golden Guy. Tremendous insight. One of the great things about FS was his great respect for great music. It comes out so clearly in this interview. Good stuff!
My old friends name was Tony Lisella. He was married to Mary Dorsey, Tommy & Jimmy 's sister.Tony's brother Richie was Franks road manager for 40 years.Richie was also a talent agent and founded an old singer by the name of Teresa brewer. I'm 55 now and old tony is long gone as are the rest of them too ,but I would love to sit with Tony at the old gas station here in N.E. Pa. and listen to his stories.Fascinating life these people led.Richie would sneak Frank into town here once in a while !
Interesting, you can tell how great he was at performing, he created an image, in this interview if you read his body language it is him, not an act, when he was on stage he played a completely different character. Frankie was a great man and all great men will eternally remember him.
I'm fourteen and my life has been shaped by Frankie. I can't believe he was expelled from school in his teens for bad behaviour! He seems so kind and down to earth!
@66WhySoSerious66, what seems to be is not always what is. There is also the fact that Sinatra was older here, but i think he put on a "nice guy act" , because those who knew him thought he was a jerk. Sinatra was also accussed of being associated with the mob. He has roots from venece and sicaly, so i'm not suprised.
@66WhySoSerious66, I know, it was not the association part that led me to that conclusion. They said that Sinatra used to drink heavily, and that he was not the kindest person. He has avery good talent in singing and acting, but he did not write any songs or lay any instruments, he just covered them.
I'm 27, and he too had a big influence on my life. If you can grow up to be a gent the way Frank was, especially in this day and age, you won't go wrong my friend. (apart from getting expelled from school!)
At least you grammar is good for a 14 year old! Nice one! =)
How old was he in this? Is it true he had alzhimerz because I can tell you guys I hope not. My grandmother has it and it's pure hell for her and for me.
when i listen to sinatra and all his old records and acting on the jack benny show or the movies, it seems totallly insane.. looking back.. the fast life... is he seems like larger than life... here he seems like a normal guy.
sad that the album idea never took off....You are left with two Duet albums which are not bad, but the sad thing is nobody recorded actually together.. Great guy miss him so much...and saw him live in 94
I love his singing. And he seems like a really nice man. Since I'm a man, a single man at that, the fact that he slept with all of those beautiful famous women is just staggering to me. Him and Warren Beatty. How in the world?!
Frankie sang with love and passion- People now wont last like he did and always will- I am 23 and a very very big fan! He is intelligent, and has charm and class. People should stop judging his 'wigs' or his lifestyle
thanks for the video - being 29 I just recently have started listening to sinatra - now i am trying to get my hands on everything he made - i only wish i could go back in time and see him live and shake his hand - he has changed my view on music, nothing compares to him anymore.
It's sad that the album Sinatra is talking about in this clip never materialized. Billy May doing the arrangements... hm, it would have been marvellous.
Of course it's nice that he managed to do the Duet albums. But sometimes I'd wish that what happened to Johnny Cash had happened to him: a producer willing to take a risk, putting Sinatra in the recording studio, and producing one, two, three albums, whatever Sinatra would have wanted to do, regardless of commercial concerns.
Personally I think he comes across as a very well mannered intelligent person. As well as being the greatest vocalist of the 20th century he has such class, we will never see his like again.

Lovely sweeping generalization that Americans have no class and Europeans do. Guess that explains Lyle Lovitt or Gary Glitter, for example.
