So basically, combine A Chorus Line with Pippin and this show is what you get. Great concept, but it lost all the aspects of Fosse's choreography and the intentions of the show.
There are no Chorus Line elements in the show; the candidates for the role of Pippin are without psychological depth. The framing device is a TV reality show, not an audition, in keeping with what passes for realism today. Imitating the direction/choreography of original productions is misguided at best, plagiarism at worst. Finally, the authors, Schwartz and Hirson, cut many of Fosse's contributions from the version licensed to amateur groups.
I was just saying the dancing is kinda Chorus Line-esque, and less Fosse. That's all I was talking about. It looks like a good production and very unique, I meant no offense.
Ok. I'm not liking the female leading player. She's singing with a falsetto and its not doing anything to help the music. If you can't belt this song then don't sing it.
I would characterize her voice as a true soprano - not a "falsetto." And yes, she doesn't "belt" the song, but if there's one thing you can say about the BCA theatre people it's that they don't hew to the usual approaches in their productions. And that's all to the good.
The show was updated to the present and framed with a "reality show" audition format which really wasn't all that different from the theatrical "medieval" theme of the original - they both lead to the same conclusion. The biggest difference was in multiple casting and a much larger chorus.
I really liked this! I loved how there was so many people. There wasnt nearly that many people in our production. I loled at bertha shoveing fastrada out of the way!
It demonstrates how using imagination - rather than simply trying to recreate an original Broadway production - creates opportunities for more performers, something you really want to see in high school theater programs.

Do you have 'On the Right Track' from this show, or the 'Finale'?

So, did you manage a Brect style of show, or go with realism on this?

Did Ben Vereen just get younger?! XD
I like the reality show theme. A nice contrast to what we normally see in this show.
