  • Would you sell this if offered the right price?

  • @TheReasonableLogic i'd only sell it if i were able to get a Waldorf Wave.

  • @TheReasonableLogic I'd be happy to let go of mine for a reasonable price. Contact me via my Yahoo address. Nyamuziwa.

  • Great demo, your sounds actually show that this synth is not yours standard little cute sounding analogue emulator stuff. Great!

  • beautifully crafted sounds! the haters here are clearly onto some frankenstein mob shit

  • linux can do this too : cat /dev/random > /dev/dsp. I don't even understand why they bothered installing a 5 octave keyboard it doesn't seem to matter what you play anyway. They should have installed one single button instead, one you can't miss :p

  • very exciting machine, loved the opening patch :)

  • Great!3.02 is like boards of canada.

  • It looks impressive but sounds as a joke...what a gigantic failure, a VST (Absynth) can do everything. It hurts me to see such a synth failure...now your Jupi8 down there is something to show! lol

    Peace

  • This is perfect for Soundscape and Space type of music. As an owner of the JP-8 which is sitting below him. I must say this Neuron is completely different than the Jupiter. Writing a soundscape type of song combining the two and adding an Arp 2600 to the mix would create some far out textures !

  • Is there anything this synth can do that my absynth cant?

  • How can anyone say a Hartmann Neuron is crap???It is a brilliant synthesiser.

  • @SPFXsynthesisers yes brilliant at making clanking noises.... ! I have yet to hear something musically useful from one??>......

  • >The most who likes Hartmann Neuron did not play it to date< Now it is "cult" Ha, Ha - bullshit! All people I know sold there "Neuron crap" short after buying it. - Ah yes learn to play kbd. but it is hard to play something nice with that sounds. Sounds all very awful!

  • Hartmann=Joystick+ADSR are shit! Build the ins/outs on left side instead on back shows H.N. made a special but not a good nice synthesizer. I think the most people think = it was expansive-looks good now it is "cult". >The most who likes it did not play it < Hartmann stopped worst synthesizer of all time with beauty look. If you have no money for a "big" buy Waldorf Blofeld, sounds phatt/crazy bit like PPG-100 X better as Neuron for 400 € ! This H.N. crap piece? NO! sorry.Neuron = ; - ((

  • Neuron= worsed Synth ever! If you want crazy (+ mainstream if want..) sounding nice synth buy a Roland V-Synth ( version 1 or 2-both better then fake H.N.) Roland have the right ideas, instead of putting awful joysticks in they build a "Helicopter Landing place" on left, which does it nicer with more functions as joysticks of H.N., where you are lost soon, couldn`t find the start point, from where you began! Who can remember min. later the numbers on 4 corners where displayed?

  • @Woefiej HARTMANN NEURON is CRAP !!! All over, compltly... ; - ((

  • Hartman Neuron: Why they don`t sell it anymore? It is a CRAP SYNTHESiZER from every view. I was blinded by incredible look + the 2 joysticks. The sounds are awful !- I thought it is expansive, good looking I will make own sounds. After an hour I began to get angry because of the "long therm" ADSR wheels + the 2 joysticks. So as this should be a extraordinary item = it is not!

  • Neuron was a idea... not more ;)

  • @megamorphilis Hartmann Neuron was / is crap. I am German, we have nice Waldorfs,PPG, Logic (now Apple),JOMOX, Acsess Virus, Celemony Melodyne etc etc - but this sounds you can do with EVERY synth in the world...

  • Incredible....

  • The quality of the build is very good though. It seems like a solid piece. I think they went out of business.

  • @amonster8mymother - CRAP PIECE OF SYNTH; why they went out? Noone wants it! I am German + I am proud of PPG, Waldorf, JOMOX. Better not builded so strong but good sound, sorry NO!!!

  • @126500yt Mister, you are so frustrated. I think that they tried to do a good thing with a very different approach and it should have many updates to improve the sound quality. They went broke by accident. If that didnt happen they would make very interesting sounding synths today. I hope that soniqworx will do that sometime again

  • @spikkel70 EVERY Synth can do what the bad sounding Hartmann can do with mostly all analog or digital synths-hard or soft much better. I`m in business for < 25 years now, mainly electronic music. I played nearly every kind of synth on this planet, I am so "vicious" to write if I will build up a new kind of synth + spent a lot of money to realize that I have to think first not build + then realizing, it`s not working the right way!? = What has it to do with frustrate? I`ve fine equipment ; )))

  • @126500yt the bad sound comes from FFT based synthesis. It doesnt have enough resolution. Its like old 8bit samplers against 24/96 samplers. Roland V-station is the same kind of technique. There was not enough computing power to do it without FFT and still there isnt enough but in the near future there will be. Physical modelling is the future of samplers and synths. And to do it with samples (and even better with morphing) is many steps ahead (complicated) then modelling synths like arturia.

  • Excuse me. I uses a very different form of synthesis. Very hit and miss. I tried one. It does not seem obvious how to control the sounds when you are using it. Sometimes confusing and wierd. After I tried it II had to shake my head and give up. I would be much happier with that Jupiter 8 there. :)

  • high end piece of hardware but awful demo!

  • @darknesslave CRAP PIECE OF SYNTH; why they went out? None wants it! I am German + I am proud of PPG, Waldorf, JOMOX, Steinberg, Celemony, Logic (now Apple) etc. Better not builded so strong but good sound, sorry NO!!!

  • @126500yt Hehe yes you are right. Highly overrated. I will never sell my Microwwave XT! That orange beast blows away everything...

  • Oh oh??? Any problems with the Shaper wheels? At 1:31 you tried to move the Shaper 3's wheel (Sustain filter) but its light nore anything in the sound changed...

  • Is it just me, or does the Neuron only excell in mother fuckinPADS!!!!

SHITINMYASS I'm so tired of hearing these droning pads!!!!!!!!

    FUCCCCCCKKKKKBA:LLZZZZZZZZ

  • Exciting! Seems to be a lot of hit-and-miss when programming this, right? And what about the knobs on the right side? You don't seem to use them much.

  • non si sente un cazzo........

  • Why does this yoke even need a keyboard ?? it just sounds like a bunch of washed up microchips. (I guess freezing cold sounds do have some purpose - if you can live on the planet Pluto).

  • A very expensive piece of junk! lol

  • sounds like something between korg wavestation and waldorf Q

  • taylor dupree! glad to see you are still making music. loved your stuff from the 90s. i wish electronic music would come back again like that!

  • @roccotanto thanks! yeah, check out the label: 12k (dot) com

  • Sounds like a synplant.... Minus 4880 dollars.

  • @vootman I second that.

  • If you want to hear more music from NEURON!!!! Welcome to neuronaluniverse's channel

  • That's an amazing instrument

  • @Woefiej the label is 12k dot com

  • @Woefiej @Woefiej i closed the myspace page, but you can look at the label i run called 12k, or just google my name: taylor deupree. youtube won't allow URLs in comments, or i'd give you the direct links.

  • @Woefiej yeah, i've got a G2. i choose my hardware synths carefully. they're all very very different.

  • I remember David Sylvian having one of these in his studio. Having watched this video, its so David Sylvian .. ;-))

  • Hey man this is best video with Neuron in you tube. Unfortunitally it is not avaiable, May be youy can help me to find this synth/ Thanks/

  • There was a software called Videodelic on Mac OS9 that used to do the same kind of sounds.

  • Is that a Jupiter down there :)

  • mine's in the shop right now, I miss it terribly.

@tehpr0, apples and oranges.... I'll bet you were one of those kids that was always raving about Soundblaster.

  • Absynth

  • questo synth sa solo ruttare?

  • i really don't think this is worth £3-5k.

i could quite easily replicate most of those sounds with Absynth / Synplant, a few outboard effects and a reel-to-reel tape recorder.

  • very unique sounding synth, does the VS version capture the essence of it ?

  • @mineheadX1 i had the VS and loved it. with the right convertors it sounds great.. but, the physical controls were limiting and i knew the hardware would be better. as well, the VS can't record stick automation, which is hugely cool when programming. the hardware can. they never implemented it in the VS.

  • Thanks for the great demo. This is one very unique synth. I have a Neuron and totally love it. My post is "Tranzen" and is mostly Neuron.

  • Another person who doesn't understand to amazing capabilities of this beautiful instrument

  • ah yes, the $3000 fizmo

  • $3000? If you find one for $5000 take it. It is difficult to find one in mint condition. It is a jewel.

  • It's on ebay now for about 3000+

  • does this thing have any lead sounds or is it just pads?

  • this demo is ridiculously horrible and shows no real capability!!!

  • @arkmediagroupllc

yeah a techno demo would have been far more informative, then the well crafted sounds and a description that says "not a lot on the Neuron here."

i'll bet you get mad at just about anything.

  • Great sounds from this thing, reminds me of Sigur Ros.

  • I thought you played some really nice stuff. That synth sounds amazing. I regret not buying one new when I had the chance. Is it easy to keep the synth in good repair and find people that can work on them and get parts?

  • No i właśnie.

  • Mam pytanie.

  • Neuron is a perfect synth for film scoring, ambient experimental... but too weirdo for most other genres. I had the vsti version, sold it 'couse it was buggy as hell on mac. It was a cpu hog as well.

  • Never knew there was a vst version too.

  • I think the fact that the Neuron is unpredictable is what makes it so nice. You never know what you might get out of this beast :)

  • Welll. nice to see some vid on here of the Neuron .... viewers should be aware that this is his particular patches/playing, and not a very "selling point" performance or demo of what the keyboard can do in a musical context. "-)

  • love this one, have had alot of use for it :)

  • The Jupiter-8 is nicer ;)

    btw. thanks for posting

  • I have tested it some time ago and wasn't impressed at all by the sounds. Very digital, bad support, basically an old PC in a very good chassis.

  • I dunno. I got my Neuron *because* it sounds so digital. It's a wonderfully unpredictable synth that does morphing and mangling no analog synth can. If you want analog, there are more than enough real (Moog Voyager, Dave Smith stuff, etc.) or VA synths out there. I like both digital AND analog, and the Neuron sounds really great as a complement to my modular stuff. Not to mention, you can make models of analog sounds and really mutilate them w/ the Hartmann!

  • I'm looking for one. anyone selling please drop a message. :-)

  • was it worth 5gs?

  • paid far, far less! ... and, yes, worth what i paid for sure.

  • I don't think so. I prefer Absynth 4 or Omnisphere for weird textures. They're a little more cost effective. Mo' money means mo' gear!

  • My brother owns one of the biggest recording studios in NY, he has the Neuron and Andromeda. Some intern bitch broke the orange sticks on it I don't know how but it's fixed and he seems pretty pleased with it but he doesn't think he should've bought it for 5 thousand especially that most of our clients are hip hop artists and not techno producers.

  • Maybe it would be better if someone posted something with better sound quality. One could better hear detailed harmonics. I guess the Neuron is better suited for sound designing rather than Hip Hop.

  • I agree on the cost, but having used a Neuron for 3 years I have to say that this is a great instrument, worth every penny and totally unique. You simply can't get these sounds with Absynth or Omnisphere. Too bad I had to sell mine to pay my rent... :-(

  • Absynth 4 is better than this shit for sure..

  • WHAHAHAHA

  • whats so funny? i heard better sounds from absynth

    Polecam Absynth 4 i fm8...

    bez odbioru.

  • Great demo, as you said there isn't too many videos of this synth. I've posted this demo on my blog switchedonsynthesizer.blogspot . com

  • Marvelous! Show us more!

  • Shit, when you buy a thing like this, even if you are not a musician you're gonna start producing sounds.
