Really a sharp machine and the sound, Heavenly. I hear the sound about the earphone, really I can only say. MAD notices the cylinders like they work, at the same time the generator him the locomotive with the driving stream supplies if with her the lever herrum is laid. Simply has an eye. THANKS!!
Ah yes, this is my favorite sound on planet earth. That wonderful whine comes mainly from the roots blower with a hint of generator thrown in for good measure. Add the deep bass chortle and you have a most supreme symphony. I grew up next to an industrial park with a small yard and GP-9 sounds were always in the backround. They sound even more dramatic riding in the cab, absolute drama queens when switching, like "Oh god you expect me to move THIS cut of cars?" they would scream.
The classic Canadian Pacific diesel switchers used to be the MLW S series, like the S-3, and the GMD SW1200RS or SW1200 back end cabbers, or in CPR slang, (Pups)

actually sounds like a 645E, I know some of CN's GP9's were rebuilt with 645's but the two are very similar

Some RR's refurbed the trucks with larger traction motors, D37s? on the GP7 and 9's. Were real durable when kicking cars.

yes, awesome sound, listen to that 567 chant.
I've always wondered- is the whining soung the generator, or perhaps the gear drive for the roots blowers?
