I am Serbian. That is not the matter here. I'm not much of a football fan, sure I watch it as any other guy (I mean soccer, the regular kind), but this is one of the most inspirational song I have ever heard. I cherish and adore Irish folk music, as well as Serbian and Croatian alike, as someone here mentioned (they are a bit alike, if not much) but this is one of my favourite songs, not because it's Irish and not English, not because it's bigoted but because it lifts spirits. @kcnB Please remember that soccer is not some Americanism. We got the term from the English who used to refer to the sport as both "football" and "soccer." Just because they've stopped calling it this, doesn't mean Americans need to change what they call it. What's it matter to you what vocabulary other people use anyway?

@rmm413c Actually if you want to get technical, Old English was less like modern English than you might think. It was closer to Teutonic languages... the influence of the Latinized languages picked up and began to show through the incarnation of Middle English, which was by far and away closer to modern English. And it could be said that modern English was a bastardization of Middle English, in a way. But as a language it really wasn't cataloged well, and was certainly transitory at best. :D

Got the opportunity to see The High Kings, at the 2010 Irish Fair, in St. Paul, MN, they brought everybody to their feet. This song was among the best !! The big man who plays the kettle drums, was incredible! Totally awesome video, thank you for making these! xo

Its about Gaelic football or hurling, You dont get legends in soccer who play hard for the glory they play for the money. Also In the backround you can see a young fella with a hurl, and you dont really get people coming from the village and the towns to support a place where they were born. And then they said all hoping that someday the call they will answer is to play for the place they were born, Now if that was soccer you could play for any team like Man Utd or Liverpool.

This song always reminds me of my first days as an exchange student in Limerick back in '07. It was late August, and the whole city was just bristling with energy because of the rugby finals.
