@robertkrosl I'd refer to the prevailing media systems in both the US and Britain as performing the function of a cordon sanitaire, which essentially leads to the exculsion of particularly Americans from news that is of vital interest. It has the effect of presenting ordinary Americans with a vision of the World that just doesn't chime with anything that exists in the real world.

What is the situation like in the Czech Republic? What is the prevailing attitude towards the US and Russia, etc.?

@robertkrosl I live in the UK and amidst a culture of growing austerity that's about to see the rate of unemployment increase tenfold as a result of wrong-headed cuts in public spending designed to erode the social safety net. Unfortunately, there exists a strong culture of anti-Europeanism here (the kind of anti-Europeanism that does not prevent the relatively prosperous from purchasing property along the Spanish coast). PS I'm a big fan of 2pac too.

Cenk mentions mentions an interesting phenomenon in this video. He says that when he criticized the CIA, his conservative friends accused him of being unpatriotic. Yet these conservatives are the same people who think every thing the federal government does is part of an evil conspiracy meant to destroy America. They scream about black helicopters and shadowy agents but then turn around and defend the one government organization that actually does have the shadowy agents and black helicopters.
