Why is the ending confusing? In the first episode she mentions not knowing what he does for a living and being pissed that he wasn't going to be at their anniversary. She either figured it out or always knew, and she set that up to mess with him and tell him that she knew. She wasn't really cheating, she was just messing with her boyfriend because she knew he was who she was calling.
