  • If only the audience knew how lucky they were

  • dude, rock and punk are a dead now days... it's like then you had an underground, now everyone listens to that lady gaga and fucking hip hop, people don't love rock, or metal, or punk anymore... it's fucking shameful and sad... lets just hope that one day people will make good, real music....

  • @STUPID21ful You have no idea how much I feel you are right. Seriously, why are people like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber even famous? NOBODY headbangs to them or grows long hair to do so. I respect people's choice of music, but not the shit from today. I refuse to like shit that goes WAH-WAH-WW-W-W-AH. Damn, I sound mad. You're damn right I am!

  • @Nirvanapwns Man I know how you feel... and I agree with you... you know what people like us should do... We should grow our hair long, start a real band, and rock as hard as we fucking can. and not do what other people think we should do, or want us to do... cause I'm sick of only hearing the songs the record companies want you to hear on the radio, and I'm sick of the stagnant music scene that we have to suffer through... and you know, I'm ready for a change...

  • Anyone find out what song that is playing in the first :23 seconds of the video???

  • @M1919A1 song is school

  • @EpicBucket47 No the song before school on the radio. School starts at :25 seconds lol. So from the start of the video to :23 is what I wanted to know. Its not a Nirvana song.

  • this video made me moist! : )

  • There was a time when you could buy a Univox Hi-Flyer guitar for something like 100 bucks...

  • Nirvana can Woo Woo lol :)

  • sound quality sucks!!!!!!

  • @imhighonyourweed1 Can you get a better one? If not, shut the fuck up and deal with it.

  • I love whoever posted this

  • awesome stuff :)

  • Yesterday, i friend of mine said: teen spirit is the best nirvana song. then i knocked him out.

  • what guitar has Kurt ???

  • @LPchester77 i know you might already know but the guitar is a mosrite so i believe i know he had another guitar with the same look with a different name

  • @LPchester77 it's a Univox Hi-Flyer. Basically a cheap copy of a Mosrite Ventures.

  • My GOD!! this is STORY! I Want a Time Machine!

  • @Manuel3DArt Everybody everybody wants a time machine...I probably would save him from suicide. :(

  • @tttDye6ottt don't forget staley and hoon!

  • @venomsimbio I'll save Hoon and Staley from the overdose yeah...!! oh and John Lennon from murder....!! SHIT I wish I've a time machine there so many people I would like to save from death....

  • @tttDye6ottt

I Think Suicide was inevitable... eheh I Want a time Machine to be at Rhino Records! Now! :P

  • @tttDye6ottt Yeah i think hed freak out if like 200 + people came to his house on the day he did it and be like"Nooooooooooo!!!!"

  • LOVE KURT... MY FAMOU5ANGEL!!

  • Huge Energy .. Nirvana like the Doors are timeless...

  • this is badass, but why can i never see paper cuts live man jesus thats like the sickest song by them and i can never find it anywhere

  • spank thruis my fave nice to hear it part of the bleach setlist

  • negative creep is fucking amazing on this performance!

  • This is in my opinion as a huge nirvana fan Forever and For Life .

This is one of their best music shows ever This Freakin kicks ass in my

opinion . Yes I know the sound quality on the first few songs is not good , but

the rest of the songs kick ass and more than make up for the bad sound quality

ones .and I have heard tons and tons of nirvana shows on original cd and many

very rare bootleg cds too . Again this is just my opinion you may not and do not

    have to agree .

  • This might be a dumbass question but how many songs total were played at Rhino Records by Nirvana???

  • 14 People do not know how to headbang.

  • 14 mother fucker

  • eh Nirvana!

  • School huh!? Never heard it before. Even though it only played for 40 seconds, it is yet another song I have to download. Fuck me, Kurts talent never ends.

  • @brightlights456X School was off "Bleach". So for good measure, i'm going to include the track list for Bleach in case you haven't heard any of them. Blew, Floyd The Barber, About A Girl, School, Love Buzz, Paper Cuts, Negative Creep, Scoff, Swap Meet, Mr. Mustache, Sifting, Big Cheese, Downer. Although a few of those are featured here.

  • @TitaniousGrubbs

Even though they weren't on the album Sappy and Lithium were written in the same Bleach era.

  • @brightlights456X as were Sliver, Polly, and In Bloom.

  • @TitaniousGrubbs

All that was needed was "Something in the way" and Bleach would have been the perfect album:D

  • @TitaniousGrubbs so was downer,mollys lips,beeswax,stain and,been a son

  • @TheFireface10 Down was stated up there, and molly's lips is a cover. =/

  • @TitaniousGrubbs i forgot that mollys lips was a cover from the vaselines. sorry

  • looks like that girl really liked him at the end. too bad courney drove him to insanity.

  • Does anyone know the year this was recorded? I guess that's Jason Everman on guitar so I think it might be 1989.

  • @TheDanielWardExp Yeah it's June 23rd 1989 in Los Angeles, California.

  • Kurt is a fuckin homelessness and i love it n.n

  • I'd be surprised if no one already mentioned this, but Jason didn't play anything at all on Bleach. He only payed for the sessions.

  • KURT IS JESUS

  • KURT IS JESUS....

  • I love big cheese here :)

  • sounded like a speed metal type solo so they kicked him out(a decision they made while high btw). By the time the tour ended Kurt was comfortable enough to play by himself and they realized Jason wouldn't be able to really write songs with them because his influences were almost entirely speed metal. Plus Kurt pretty much hated him after spending so much time with him

  • No, I'm not underestimating Kurt, he agreed with the band that it was because he wasn't comfortable with playing live and singin for a full scale tour so they got Jason to make it better for Kurt. There are videos of Jason playing solos in fact at one point Kurt wanted Jason to write his own solos instead of mimicking Kurt. Why they kicked him out wasn't because he was a dick, him and Kurt simply didn't work well together, their personlities clashed. And whenever Jason DID write a solo it was

  • awesome

  • Why is there another guitarists? what part of the song is he playing because, it looks like kurt is playing everything.

  • @itachiCUZ they hired him for part of the tour of bleach to ease somepressure off Kurt, and hey payed for the recording of Bleach even tho he didn'tplay a note

  • @TheatreOfPain979 ummmm no dude. Jason Everman played most of the solos on Bleach, and he played all of the guitar for Love Buzz, because it was a song he had written with Robbie Van Leeuwen (SP?) when he was in another band.

And Jason didn't pay for shit when it came to Bleach. Kurt and Krist got really drunk and demanded a contract out of Jonathan Poneman, so they had a $500 advance. Jason Everman was a last second addition to the band, only bcuz Kurt liked the song Love Buzz

  • @TheKenowherePunk love buzz is a cover dude

  • Are you fucking dumb??? Love Buzz is a cover of a song from some European band that Kurt liked lol. And Jason Everman didn't play shit on Bleach, half the solos on Bleach aren't ever solos they're like noise fests lol. Jason Everman only toured with the band because Kurt wasn't good at playing lead guitar and singing live, so they got Everman to play lead guitar and he and Kurt shared solos during that tour(tours?).

  • It wasn't to ease the pressure: Kurt simply couldn't play and sing live very well. It worked out when they were a small time band but once they got signed they couldn't tour with a guy who could barely sing and play. So they got Everman to tour with them.

  • wow wasn't expecting to hear polly

  • @macmintire1 Polly was written way before the hype, it was actually about a girl who happened to be named Polly, and she was raped then tortured with a blow torch, starved and then killed.

  • Does anyone know what type or model tele Jason Everman is playing? it looks like it has a humbucker on the neck pickup but not sure on the bridge.

  • fuckin sweet...

  • no autographs and no encores

  • you guys didnt know there was 2 guitars at first?

  • I'd do anything to be there at Rhino Records to see this...

  • In fact, I just realized that the big green Costello poster that's behind the amp in the first shot is on the wall in front of me as I type this.

  • Wow. Haven't seen this in a long time. I was there when it was recorded. I worked at Rhino from '85 to '90, when we did lots of in-stores, and this might have been the loudest one ever. I'm amazed you can hear anything at all. Half the people in the store just happened to be shopping, and had no idea this was going to happen. And the reason there are so few camera views is because this store was TINY. Sam Epstein is the guy who shot it (and he never got a dime) standing on a bin full of records.

  • @stiffsdotcom whoa awesome, did you get to meet them too?

  • Big Cheese make me

  • Nirvana 06/23/89 — Rhino Records Westwood, Los Angeles, California Set: 01. School 02. Floyd The Barber 03. Love Buzz 04. Big Cheese 05. About A Girl 06. Sifting 07. Spank Thru 08. Dive 09. Polly 10. Negative Creep 11. Blew

  • i'd give up on so much to have been there..

  • look at his har.... so beautiful

  • Wow - i forgot all about those bright converse all-stars that were so popular that year

  • awsome thanks for posting this stuff nirvana rules

  • krist has a bowl on his head

  • Comment removed

  • wow this drummer is bad!

  • Did you know that Jason Everman paid the 650$ for Bleach before he got the 2nd guitarist? He was a big Nirvana-Fan!

  • BEST POLLY I'VE EVER HEARD!

  • Krist killed him <.<

  • They had a rhythm guitarist back then...

  • Thanks for the full upload, excellent.

  • Its been 16 years, and noone has rocked as hard as Nirvana!

  • i love how, even tho this is a pretty pointless gig, it still kicks ass

  • @FooFighterFix no gig is pointless man. besides they had just released a record a week before this gig on one of the hotest indie labels in the country at the time, and this one of the first show on the american tour promoting it.

thats pretty significant for them at the time and quite significant now historywise. lahblah whatever, its is kick ass your right who give a crap whather is was significant, just a great gig.

  • ;-)

  • niiiceeeee! I love it!

  • at 9:23 he zooms in on the double bass like its a big deal haha

Bleach is so much sicker than nevermind

  • What kind of guitar does Kurt have here?

  • @Stubbum Mosrite Gospel (1 or 2)

  • @ZenMonkey1 Thanks man!

  • @Stubbum Its a Univox Hi Flyer Phase 3 model. The person who said its a Mosrite is wrong. (Kurt had two Mosrite guitars, Neither which he owned in 1989 and they look different if you compare pictures of them)

  • @101Volts right, but those Univox's are just cheap versions of the Mosrite's.

  • @Stubbum Univox guitars are copies by a different company.

  • Love the akward thanks and look at 29:48.

I counted two dozen people in the audience- including the record browsers.

And heartfelt THANK YOU to the lucky bastard (Nirvanapwns?) who recorded this.

  • Does someone know were i can buy this DVD? :D

  • yeah later he was so fed up of fame

  • please, tell me

is Love buzz played faster? faster than Bleach?

    I'm sure that I'm right

  • pure class love the old Nirvana stuff when they were just playing clubs and record stores

    RIP Kurt

  • i think kurt might have turned evermans guitar way, way down. (lol!)

  • Wow! Original Nirvana with Dale Crover on drums and Jason Everman on guitar?!!

  • This was the Bleach tour with Chad on the Drums, near the end of this tour Jason was sacked

  • @RupertDCD27 um thats chad ..dale only filled a slot a few times and did demos..never was a member of nirvana

  • ancora...???

  • nirvana till death.......

  • Polly!!!! :D

  • SPANK THRU

  • What song at 17:50?

  • spank thru. if you like that song hear the one live at the reading festival

  • I got the dvd and cd and it's AMAZING

    Nirvana for life.

  • great nirvana

  • "no autographs and no encores"

I wonder if he had any idea or even any fantasy of where they'd be in a few years when he said that.

  • What's the name of the song after About a girl?

  • It's called "sifting", it's on their first album, Bleach.

  • where did he get this?

    amazing.

  • Kurt was a yonki since sixteen years old, asshole

  • school

  • i mean BEFORE school

  • What's the song in the very beginning (on the radio)??? First 23 seconds

  • wicked performance, like all bands when their just starting out theyre proper goin for it and its all about the music.

    great stuff

  • 29:40 Kurt Cobain before becoming a junkie

  • its kind of true

  • im suprised everyones booing this...its really one time i cant remember seeing kurt on screen smiling, and telling the audience "its been nice"

drugs and FAME killed that kurt

  • @graff44 WHO IS BOOING IT DONT YOU ALL SE THEM CLAP AN CHEER FOR ENCORE AT THE END!!!

  • @b0w13nspac3 He's talking about comments I think. Comments from 8 months ago when he posted that.

  • @graff44 yeahit did. i like this era

  • @graff44 he never wanted all that fame and money. All he ever wanted was to write songs, and play small clubs and shit. He never expected it to blow up like it did. The fame made him angry, because people said all of these things about him and they weren't all true. So he just used more drugs and did weird things just to piss people off. He would constantly lie to reporters about his life so that when he died nobody would ever know the truth. He wanted to leave a myth.

    Which he did.

  • I like how kurt pantomimes playing the drums at the end of floyd the barber (~3:12)

  • no autographs no encores

    funny shit

  • this is on the box set dvd in much better quality.

  • big cheese is on that dvd. not any of the other stuff.

  • one of the best performances of Nirvana.

  • wtb torrent/b&p

  • god dude it be great to be there

  • Wish I was there...People who were there were lucky to see Kurt that close. I'd love to see Nirvana in a small record store...Love how Jason Everman makes his guitar feedback ..

  • I seem to remember a version on youtube with the audio fixed for the first 3 songs

  • thanks for this video! golden shit!

  • wtf is with the news lady

  • No room for Jason Everman imo.

  • its funny when it goes to that news lady

  • I think "Negative Creep" is especially strong. I like Jason Everman in there

  • damn...paper cuts.

  • theres no official religion or language for the us sir. but i agree with your opinion that christianity is antispirituality.

  • Cause with 2 guitars its in stereo. and fuller sound

  • i noticed that jason the 2nd guitarist always plays different chords than kurt

  • Well, sure. What would be the point of having two guitars playing the exact same thing? Might as well have one guitar then.

  • haha wow. best comment ive ever read.

  • really? usually when their are two guitaristist, one is playing a bar chord, and the other is playing an open chord, for a fuller sound. hes playing the same chord, just on another position on the neck

  • So what?

  • To be part of that little shithole town witnessing that, just crazy. Nobody could have guessed in their wildest imaginations that they would change the world.

  • Daddy's little girl ain't a girl no more.

  • what is the song at 12:46

  • the song is "sifting" from the record bleach. amazing album :-) very raw. one track for each instrument and one vocal track, no big label polish.

  • I have got the bleach alnum

  • I have got bleach and the sifting song it sounds more heavy on this version i love nirvana

  • Comment removed
