I remember seeing 2 guys racing one of these and the Porsche 959 back when I likved in HK back in the late 80's.. I was so jealous. These were the ones that came with the Technagold motors which were the bees knees..
This old school Tamiya vid is awesome! I just built my 1st kit, a 08 WRX TT-03E chassis. Now I'm hooked and have been buying every rally kit I can find.
they didnt show the landing at 0:25 becuz it shattered into a thousand little plastic shards ....just kiddin but you do know that most of these kits handled like wet dog turds when you raced them dont you?
lol I have a grasshopper re-issue omg I was gonna just keep it original and place it on the shelf...but to hell with that I had to drive it...I put a 15 turn lrp in it and the poor thing cant even drive through low cut grass as smooth as a babys ass...it just gets bouncing, digs its front end in and pole vaults itself into the air ...lol..they should have called it the tumble weed ..or the turdhopper...ahhh good fun they are though
Had one of these myself. Long time saving for it. Totaled it when driving ice race with homemade spike tyres, technigold engine and max gear ratio. Carried it home as parts in a plasic bag. :D Fantastic car!
Just bought one on Ebay for £134. ! In mint condition. The technigold motor is worth £40 on its own. NICE...:)

Yep....what a machine. Built one way back in '88. Still sitting in the shed, with a bung speed controller...makes me want to rev him up again!

Interesting that for an official Tamiya promotional video they seem to be using the orange rims Porsche 959 rims from the Porsche version of the kit.
