As much as people want to believe this, it has been debunked in controlled testing. There is no question that he is "conscious" but it has been shown that he is not communicating. Sadly, his brain is still in a vegetative state. My heart goes out to him and his family, but wishful thinking and a potential book deal (yes, true but exploitive) do not suddenly make him able to communicate.

Hi, no he's not being sarcastic. This "facilitated communication" was debunked years ago. I have NO idea why the media are reporting it other than it slipped through the net and all broadcasters liked the story. This kind of communication has never passed a scientific test e.g. getting them to explain something the "helper" is not aware of. Please...read the facts. He may have conscious brain activity but he is NOT communicating.

I was in a coma for 2 weeks when I was 17. I heard most everything that was going on and heard most everything that everyone said to me. But things that were said to me became my own thoughts.

15 years later I stll have complications. Nerve damage on my left side, I see double, and mental issues like low self-esteem, and trouble orginizing.

It's true that they found brain activity but it is NOT TRUE that he is communicating. "Facilitated communication" (i.e. typing with someone elses hand holding yours) is not scientifically recognised, infact it has proven to be false. False hope is even worse than this poor man. He would not be able to explain something the "helper" had not seen. I too intially fell for it.
