  • The great Sir Thomas Allen and the wonderful, underrated Elizabeth Gale! Thanks for uploading this.

  • I was the producer of this show, which featured set designs by Allen Jones and costumes by LWT's wardrobe department, and I can confirm that we were not inspired by the 1977 Peter Hall production at all -- none of us had seern it.The sequence was newly staged by our director John Carlaw. -- Rod Allen

  • @roddo100000 Thanks for the clarification! I really enjoyed the show and wish more episodes had been made.

  • lovely

  • This is what we used to call in college "racing her off." ;)

  • @drtmuir nice way of putting it :-)

  • She was! And I think she was also in the Glyndebourne production. There must be a connection between this and Hall's production - costumes are so similar.

  • PS. Two more bits to come! -:)

  • Wow...Regency era costumes mixed with Thomas Allen as Don Giovanni? Magnificent! Yes, you can see I'm a big fan of the Regency era and Jane Austen.

I seem to think though that this little excerpt is based off the 1977 Peter Hall production (costume and prop-wise anyway) and wasn't Elizabeth Gale the Zerlina in the 1984 Haitink recording with TA?
