  • I dragged my girlfriend into it before she was able to drag me out! For me, the creative process is the biggest rush. I have so much to share that I just have to say it. If someone gets something out of it, that's even better...

  • SelfTube is WorthYou ;)

  • o look her mr! you deserve all things positive! and yt is a hobbies and for the first time i have something i do on my free time. along side other things like my blog.

  • You do know that one risk of ocean vlogging is having people say you've "jumped the shark" don't you:)))

  • Damn. This is yet another video that hasn't shown up in my subscriptions. It's just as well you sent it to me.

It sounds that, like me, you were a YTer waiting for YT to happen John.

This site has given me an outlet as well. An outlet i don't think i realised i needed, until i started out here.

Loving these ocean vlogs. Just remember to dodge the stray bullets ok? :)

  • Hi Andy, it's been a long time. I miss vids also.

  • It sure has. It's good to see you're still around :)

  • Oh I'm still here but I'm going throught the equivilant of writters block right now

    Hugs

  • Still vlogging from your flooded bathroom? Really, John! Swim over to your neighbor's and call a plumber!!

    ;-)

  • For sure, this is the first time's I've EVER seen an ocean vlog - you just got off the shore and went right in! How did you keep that camera dry??

  • I love this video LOL... WTF! I love that part.

  • Yep, community is it! And members of a community support each other, and, yep, build up each other's self worth. I need to do some swimming vlogs... but first... a waterproof camera...

  • Your words were spot on with regard to community. I did so many ocean vlogs at YourTubeAdvocate for July that I'm still seasick my friend! Had a meetup recently and you've gotta see the small Sanyo waterproof camera I filmed, amazing. Mine isn't waterproof so I risked salt water mixing with electronic circuity in the name vlogging :)

  • John, you are brilliant. You have a great delivery and express yourself so well without ever tripping up. No-one is ever in any doubt about what you mean. More power to your elbow John.

  • You know, I always look at people who never need to edit, have a great vernacular like updownmostly - goodness - so many that simply are relaxed in front of the camera. I've come a long way in not freezing up when the red light comes on. But here I sit, thanking you for this most wonderful comment which I've taken to heart. Elbow power!

  • You have a soothing voice.

  • Thank you Tammy :)

  • First of all John, you're a great vlogger. One of the best as far as I'm concerned (and I'll always say this -- one of the coolest YouTubers around). As I said in my response, I find a lot of worth in this too. To me, I put my heart and soul into my videos...why would I not take a little self-worth into them? I'm like that with all my hobbies.

Great vlog my friend. You're right, the Catman is one of the best as well, and somebody I'm proud to call friend.

  • Gary, you were actually mentioned in this video before I cut it down for size, but I'm posting the rest up soon. When I view you, I view inspiration. I'm with on your thoughts of self worth. Thanks so much! And we both appreciate the Catman, rightfully so :)

  • Wow man...I'm honored to have even made it to the cutting room floor of a JR#1 video! Cool! :)

  • I am not sure there is a more eloquent vlogger on this site.

    Very well said.

  • Thanking you ... I try so hard make coherent vlogs but when I hear that, I sincerely feel it worth it :)

  • WOW! You are so correct. Excellent video man.

Yeah this is like drawing to me. LOL It is creative fun. :)

  • Thanks dude!

  • Wow John, well said! Now, I have to say that I'm really happy for the reason you've been missing - was beginning to wonder, but now that I know why, you are excused = now and then! :) Right now, YT is keeping me sane as I am confined for the summer, most of the time it is a nice sub for TV, but this summer the community is saving me from isolation. :) But I'm finding that I enjoy watching and commenting much more than vlogging. The cool thing is that all of us combine to make it work here.

  • Ah so you know about my proclivities over at YourTubeAdvocate hehe - that's wonderful. And yes one hand helps the other :)

  • I'm going to cut the crap and get to the important part-The Volvo looked VERY sexy with that beautiful ocean and skyline reflected in her windows :)

  • Don't look now, but there's a shark behind you...duh duh, duh duh, duh duh duh duh duh...

  • Your prophecy is actually fulfilled in a previous video where I also vlog in the coean which I attached to this one. No Kidding! Hope you're doing well buddy.

  • You are a very good vlogger, John! But I vlogged in the ocean about 1 week before you ever did. Sorry.

Self-worth from YT. Nope. But it is fun!

  • If you vlogged in the ocean and I didn't see it, then it doesn't count ;) Thanks V - Now I'm off to find your ocean vlog lol - and God knows you're qualified to do it with that kickass camera that I almost stole from you when you left it behind by the pool ;)

  • I've always been behind the camera (writing, directing, filming and editing). It's the one place I can stand and feel comfortable talking.

  • I admire that TG!

  • So THAT's how you make your vlogs so interesting. Let the 'tape' run for 20 mins and edit it down!?!?!

I've yet to dip my toe into vlogging (been blogging for years) because I'm worried I'll mess up or watch it back and be embarrased with what I've recorded because sometimes I hate watching video of myself!!!

One day, my friend, one day.

Also, ocean vlogging is the future!!!!

    ;)

PS. Cool car. Very retro. Retro = cool!

  • Absolutely. I ramble on and on and repeat things Steve that's my major problem! I really encourage you to vlog. It's changed my life for the better (I even met my girlfriend here) and to many, it's about delivering their own special message to the world. It's a fascinating thing. I love retro! Also have an 80's Cadillac that I bought more for a prop on YouTube than anything else since gas prices are so high :)

  • well john...or jonreagannumber1 ...that childhood acting practice in front of the mirror has paid off - your comfort in front of the camera is always evident. You are a gifted speaker which I'm sure made you a great DJ and now a vlogger extraordinaire.

Loving the on-location (or should I say IN) shoots!

  • Merci Beaucoup! But really, if you know the kind of deep breaths and pauses and struggles and repeats of the same things over and over that I go through, because I don't script. It's almost a nightmare when I think of shooting ... And you and Random have to be one of the cleverest teams when it comes to word associations :D IN shoots indeed.

  • This is my first time seeing someone doing a blog on the water. You are really creative, you have really neat blogs.

    be well,

    animalchemist

  • Always trying to entertain and those words mean everything to me, thank you!

  • Ok, this is the final comment and perhaps it would have been quicker to have done a video response! ;)

The car looked cool... by cool, I mean shiny. You'll be better better getting Mr Funny's opinion on this one ;)

  • Thank you! I'm going to answer all of this in a bit and hope you read :) I did want to make the ending of this response unexpected much like when you posted a response to me about the Utubia drama hehe. You're a master of comedy in my book.

  • And the line between JRN1/John and 21stCC/Steve is an interesting one. Even in real life you can't beat the feeling when sometimes you go out with a crowd of people and somehow 'you' are holding their attention, 'you' are the one making them laugh seemingly with almost everything that you say. I'm not saying this happens every time I go out (far from it, I can often be the quiet one in a group just listening) but when it does happen, perhaps that is 21stCC or maybe it's just the real Steve.

  • Seriously John, I thought maybe you'd missed my Self-Worth videos through your recent YT absence, a response wasn't expected but of course is appreciated.

This video does remind me that before YT me and Mr F did write down about 50 ideas for comedy sketch ideas which to this day we still haven't filmed any. But it shows at least performing/entertaining was always a goal of ours and YT has allowed us to do this.

  • Hmmm, posting videos at a certain time with a view to hitting the mass American market prime time viewing... not something I would do. Ok, we both know that is something that goes through my mind when I post videos but I edit videos in the evening and inevitably don't finish them until late in the evening UK time which is early evening US time.

And greeting the people watching by saying "Good Evening Viewers" - that has a nice ring to it ;)

  • Of course, it's not like I've never seen your video uploaded then the following day see your marketing it ... nooo ;) I love what we take our hobby very seriously and I can relate to you in so many ways on all levels including personal friendships and YouTube.

"Good Evening Viewers" is something I've heard somewhere, but I can't remember where I actually got it from ;)

  • This is an extremely fresh and interesting way of delivering a video ... the content is interesting and some of the points are very valid. You are quite correct, there is something special about the YouTube community - it was good to hear you use that term - that is quite unique.

I do not own a television set: I think television might be a good way for other people to relax and waste time ... it's not for me.

5* and the best vlog of the month award!

Love, peace and happiness to fill your day!

  • My goodness what a truly unexpected compliment, thank you! I also sold my television set years ago. I think a new generation of us in this community have come to terms that original content and the ability to pick what you want to watch when, will eventually make television obsolete unless it becomes interactive.

  • I think you are a great vlogger! I always enjoy listening to what you have to say...:-)

  • Very cool Johnny! Very.....

  • !! SHAAAARRKK!!...

  • ¥T¥

  • Nice vlog John. I agree - YouTube is a way to express my creativity and connect with YT friends. But I have to maintain a balance with my real life - it's so easy to waste hours watching and commenting on everybody's vids.

As for your sexy car- Volvos Rule!!!

  • Thank you about vlog! I knew you'd agree on Volvos and they do Rule ... love yours! Same model.

Your channel is a breath of fresh air in so many ways. With me, this video, for example, took 4 hours to edit. Once I do it the hours go by and I don't realize, but getting in the *mood* to do it is horrific for me. Much the same reason why I don't stickam ... 4 hours go by in the blink of an eye :)

  • Great vlog. The important thing is loving what you are doing especially the process just like when you were younger acting in front of the camera with nowhere to post them, but you had the idea. Ideas are where great things are born. I would have had a blast if we had YT in the 80's and 90's!

  • OMG Pip ... If I were 18 again with all the partying and unmarried friends, cars, girls lol - I would have so much fun footage! My cousin Eva who's been in one of my GoodYouTuber things is 18 and I tell her "Don't waste it, get on here - you'll remember this forever" ... but alas she won't. Too consumed in boyfriends and fun to take this seriously. I still push a little though and hope she comes around, she's amazing on camera!

  • The Volvo is hot ;o) That kind of old Volvo I wanted to buy when I was around 20 ... but it was an older version from 1975 as station wagon of this 240 (hope I remember the right type name of that Volvo). Could have been so cool to have a car as old as I and maybe I would still drive it. Could be a classic, now.

  • There is a movement going on that is trying to make this Volvo 240 a classic. The lines of the car were designed in 1971 but it was sold here almost without change until 1993! It was very expensive and feels it. It was a top seller and Sven, it almost feels like an Audi. The ride is superb. I know I'm crazy to think it's sexy ;) But at least you think it's hot so I'm not alone lol. (I want your Fiat).

  • Usually when I am seeing you with a baldy head I am used you wear lots of facial hair ... without the beard you look for sure younger.

Ocean vlogging ^^ Find a partner with the same YouTube hobby is hard but I also have this luck ;o)

Like as you say, some newer YouTubers also don't understand what we are doing here. But I am sure most of them will soon as it is addicting and more interesting to listen to opinions than to watch a music video. Here's interaction, expression and community.

  • Well thank you! That's the goal as I'm still looking for work and I'm being told that I'm too old lol. Sven on my main page, I have a featured video and I'd love your personal opinion it regarding country flags here. I've been meaning to email you about it!

You and BritishSazzy are a a true match :)

  • Just found him tonight?! (really a shooting?)

  • I like venting John... you know? You and your happy girlfriend... rub it in!

This comment isn't amazing... I wish I had something amazing to say, but I'm not feeling profound. I could recite a commercial maybe?

  • I've vented maybe twice here. Can't argue that it didn't feel great because it did :) So much support and I know those that really meant it. Now because of your comment I'm going to start talking about my wonderfully suicidal financial situtation!

You how long it took me to win that gf's heart? Ages of determination from 3000 miles away. This from a guy that hates the long distance thing!

About comments, if you're like me, I just get any quote from an old car magazine that may sound deep ;)

  • Did you only just find Steve tonight? He IS the best kept secret on YouTube indeed :D

I thought it was a shooting for sure ... turned out to be a girl cleaning her car mats by banging them on a metal trash can. I'm used to shootings though, just glimpse and keep vlogging ;)

  • Serious... just tonight, about an hour or so ago? (I like the drive by shooting scenario... stick with that story.... ;)

The odds are sucky... knock it off you two!

  • When I found him - I found what he was doing so intriguing and original that I did a video about him. They have a way of making you feel like you're drinking a beer with them right in their home. Few can do that! I'm posting that vid to this video as a response.

  • Was just watching his... Hope you have a great night... Today I decided I will be a Beekeeper. (I'm not kidding... the book I'm in has convinced me it is my new calling!) ???

~Yes, I'm sober. Maybe that is part of the problem ;) ~peace

  • Before you sleep, you've got mail on HeidiVlogs!

  • "About comments, if you're like me, I just get any quote from an old car magazine that may sound deep ;)"

If only he was joking. . . lol
