  • You'll see the switch on the dash. I grounded it up in the cab. It worked and people actually thought it was a pretty good idea. The truck was our old wood hauler. I wasn't going to stick big money into it. It did have the best 4X4 of any of my pickups and it got about 17 MPG. Not too shabby for a 350. My 496 gets about 12 and my '82 G20 with a 305 4-barrel only gets about 14.5 MPG. This truck had 3.42's, the 496 has 4.10's, and I believe the G20 has 3.07's or 3.08's. It's pretty high geared.

  • I sold this truck. The ball and spring that helps hold it in gear broke, so instead of spending $600 to fix $5 worth of parts, we put a switch on the actuator and left it in 4 Hi. I hooked it to the ground wire because I don't like using the hot side if I don't have to. This way, if it wore a hole in the wire's coating, then all it would do is ground and engage the 4X4. Hence, the big light. It was hooked to the light on the floor. If it engaged, I knew about it.

  • wha'ts the deal with the 4x4? like the "leave in 4H" and the big light on the dash?

  • You need to get a stock intake tube off a 4.3v6 tbi truck...they don't have that big restrictor silencer box on the fenderwell. it just goes straight from the air cleaner to the firewall. it makes quite a big difference in power and mpg.

it looks a little rough but spruce it up with some wheels/tires it'll look alot better
