  • 2002 S Series - I see 3 wires, Grey, Purple (Middle) and Black with white stripe. Bad fuel pump?... Bad Fuel Pump I am asking?

  • @skimntdan Sorry i did not get back to you sooner i just got back my internet from the recent Halloween snowstorm can i still help you.

  • 2002 S Series - I see 3 wires, Grey, Purple (Middle) and Black with white stripe.

Only one with power is Purple with Key on. Black is ground and checks out. All other power checks out x 3 videos you have produced on Fuel pump troubleshooting. No pressure at Rail, car will not start or runs about 3 seconds. No power in grey wire. Confused about Grey wire not having power. Everything forward of it does. Bad fuel pump

  • Sites for no fuel pump, door chijme, dome lights, electric door locks:

  • If you have no fuel pump, door chime, dome lights, electric door locks the problem is probably the Instrument Panel Jucntion Block (IPJB). I fixed my 1999 SL1 by just wiggiling the IPJB, but I'm checking on a more permanent fix by fixing the electrial connection or replacing the IPJB. Check these sites:

  • @1PositiveGuy Thank you for sharing.

  • how do check ground on the circuit

  • thank you so much for the great and knowledgable information. It helped fix my problem after paying a lot to troubleshoot the problem and still getting no real solution. Your video enabled me to solve my own problem and saved me money. Thank you

  • New update - I have just solved my chime, radio, defroster problem by wiggling the "chime box". Now I just need some fuel to flow to the engine. As I stated before, I am getting 11 volts at the grey wire in the truck. Do you believe that means my fuel pump is bad ????

  • Have someone turn the key while you listen for the pump.If you can not hear it from underneath try removing the gas cap.

  • @bslotab4 I'm having the same issues.. where and what did you wiggle for the "chime box" any help would be greatful. I just installed a brand new fuel pump and I'm still not getting anything.. nor does the radio, defrost, cig light, etc work

  • Also, I am having just about the same problem that someone in your step 2 commented on. My door chime, radio, and rear defrogger also quit. The dome light still works though. He mentioned replacing the fuse panel. Is this the panel behind the radio with the prongs, or the connenting parts that the wires are connected to.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Ok, I tried that. It seems if you turn the key to try to start it, I get about 11 volts. Does this mean that I am getting power all the way to the fuel Pump ??

  • Mr. Richpin - Thanks for the video, but I have a question. Once I connect to the grey wire, do I turn the key all the way to start, or just turn it so the blower can work ?? On your step 2, I get 12.5 volts, but am not sure where to go next.

  • Have some one turn the key to the run position wile you watch the meter. There should 12 volts at the gray wire for three seconds.

  • i have a 96 SW2 1.7 DOHC. When it reaches colder weather outside and once the car has been sitting for more than 8 or so hours, It has a hard time running, it starts and then immediatley begins to Choke and most of the time is dies, I Normally have to hold the accelerator down and run the engine at around 3000rpm to get it to keep running so it will warm up, Once its warmed up its perfect i can shut the car off and it will start back fine. fuel filter, sprak plugs and IAT sensor R&R...any ideas?

  • Have you replaced the engine coolant temp sensor and its connector.

  • Hey Richpin, I have a Gripe on my saturn ive been struggling with, i was wondering if you might have an idea what i could do. i have a 96 SW2 1.7 DOHC. When it reaches colder weather outside and once the car has been sitting for more than 8 or so hours, It has a hard time running, it starts and then immediatley begins to Choke and most of the time is dies, I Normally have to hold the accelerator down and run the engine at around 3000rpm to get it to keep running so it will warm up...cont...

  • when i do this it does not show the voltage and when i turn the key to crank it over it reads the voltage at around 12 v does that mean its good or not

  • My understanding is that you set it to the range you are expecting to see. For example, if you are expecting a reading of ~12 volts, set it to the range that includes 12 volts. On my multimeter/voltmeter that range is 0 to 20 in the DC area of the device (for automotive checks).

  • Yes,for automotive checks you want to be on 20 V DC.

  • Dude, you're video is the only place I've been able to locate the fuel pump connector -- not the Chilton nor the Haynes manuals show you precisely where this is. Thanks!

  • How do you know what setting to turn the voltmeter to? If you use the wrong setting can you damage anything?
