hey guys, i have a question, how does one get accepted into mcgill? i know u must send a portfolio, and have a good GPA, but is there a specific list of the things you need to get accepted there? i went on the website but its very confusing to me. i'm currently in gr 11 and i need to know what courses to take and whatnot. Thanks in advance
@cardstrader A lot happened last summer. It would be too long to explain, but basically all the great teachers are leaving the school (or have already left).
@aliasm4n5 why? i want to transfer my credits and join mcgill but im not sure if they will accept my credits.. its all very confusing i dont know who to talk to about this, maybe if you pass me on your number or something i could call you and take some information. i live outside the United states and canada btw
@rudygetsplentyy There was an ugly power struggle last summer that happened in the school. Now all of the great teachers are leaving. The ones who are in control are leading the school towards a very old-school direction (If you like drawing brick houses then McGill might be for you).. I suggest you do some research on your own, maybe visit the school during open house. I think that at McGill Architecture the students are GREAT, but the teachers not so much.
Hi guys!! I really want to study architecture in mcgill university it's my dreaam i want to apply next year but i read in the university offcial link that i have to send portfolio of my work i am freaking out 'cause i've never studied architecture before but I do have some drawing skills though, anyways i was just thinking wath did you draw?? was it buildings? paintings? i really have no idea :(( pleaase help mee!!! and merry christmas! oh and nice prank :D
@ilhamSun Put drawings, paintings, photographs, anything that demonstrate your artistic skill. The subject matter does not have to be buildings (in fact you will learn that everything is connected to architecture in some way). Try to include pieces made in a wide range of mediums. Happy holidays and best of luck :)
On a scale from 1-10, how hard is Architecture at Mcgill?
Im thinking of doing my fourth year there, but the university where I study isnt AS GOOD as other universities; hence my motivation to do one year abroad.
soo do you mind answering me a few questions? I would really appreciate it.
- How hard is it?
- 4th year,is it group works or individual?
- Whats ur average sleeping hours when there isnt a deadline?
- Is it okay that I use computers or do they force u to do it manually?
I don't know how to answer the "how hard" is it question, because it really depends on a lot of things (sort of projects, the teacher etc.) I think that if you are motivated and hard working then you shouldn't find it that hard.
I'm in my third year right now and works are individual, I don't know about next year, but I can go ask for you
Average sleeping hours: 7-8 hours (but that's just me personally)

And you pretty much have to use computers.
