I'm not quite sure what to say to this, but something inside me says I should say something. I don't like to criticise other pianists, but my honest opinion is that if you're good enough to be able to learn these songs, then you should be good enough to play them better than you did here. I won't comment on Angry Young Man, I've not tried to play it myself and I liked your version. As for Root Beer Rag, I'm not far off the standard where I plan to record and upload my own version. So, I feel...

What it comes down to, I guess, is what you meant to do by this video. Showcase your talent? Bad job. Practice more, next time. Have a laugh and mess around? While I admire your passion for playing the piano, I think you are playing Root Beer Rag too fast. Playing it at the speed that Billy plays gives the song more feeling, and your cover seams to take that away.

You're obviously pretty good at piano, but a bit of advice: calm down! Your forearms and hands/fingers look so tense. Loosen up a bit and take the song at a slower pace if needed, just until you're comfortable with the looser feeling.

I think everyone's being a jerk to this kid for criticizing him so much. Not only did I think he did a fine job, he added in his own nuance which showed how capable of a player is. He played root beer rag too fast, but that's why he made so many mistakes. If it was slower, he wouldn't have missed so many notes (which were'nt as many as everyone is saying). Plus, he's a teenager and probably have enough time to waste trying to play up to your ridiculous standards. He's just a kid on Youtube.

You were fine on the intro to angry young man, but that was it. the rhythm was off in several places on BOTH songs. slow down both pieces and look at the sheet music to make sure you have the rhythm right. For example, when you get to the coda on angry young man, the right hand is fine, but the left hand came in a bit too quickly. And root beer rag, slow down and practice is all I can say. On the recordings, it may sound like Billy Joel is playing fast, but it's really all in the rhythm.
