  • @johnfordcoley Thanx brother for understanding what it means to us currently serving and those like me who have ...... I remember when I got home and everything was so different , not at all like I remembered or rather had chosen to hope for and listening to this song as I dealt with MY changes I now realize and how much the music really help. ThankYou, Brother, and all the other writers that help express our feelings

  • God Bless the US Miltary!!they are currently fighting the wrong war in Iraq and Afghanistan.they know what's happening but they can't do anything about it!!they are the ultimate sacrifice from other peoples greed for power and money.definitely there are no Weapons of Mass Destruction,Saddam is dead, but the "oil fields" are still burning.yes,it's all about the OIL FIELDS baby!!

  • This song is "Soldier in the rain" by England Dan and John Ford Coley. I played it over and over when I was a teen in the 70's. I have their early albums that can't be found anywhere and they have some of the most beautiful and haunting songs!!! OK, you switched, this must be Josh Groban at 2:23.

  • @survivrs TO MYSELF; Not only does it change to Josh Groban but it then goes into Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A." (BTW, not his BEST version, but none the less beautiful). I cried my way through this video-awesome job to the author!!!!

  • Thank you John Ford Coley. I served for twenty years and I love this song. The lonely nights in a foreign land protecting our great country were tough but rewarding, I wouldn't trade those years for anything. Thanks again for this beautiful song and thanks for writing it.God Bless You!

  • This song is not anti war, although some thought it was. This is about the change in the lives of our dedicated and brave soldiers whose lives are forever altered by the experiences of protecting our nation and our freedoms for us. Experiences we'll never know of. I wrote it. Trust me on it's meaning and it's very pro military.

  • When they did this way back when when I was young, the radio in most of the USA would not play it because it was against the war ( Viet Nam ) and so many of my US chums had never heard it until around the 90's. Too bad.. One of their best songs..

  • this was my first video- and with 2 children in the military, the concept started as a way to honor them. As the project got going, it took on a life of its own, and turned into a way to honor all that serve. I'll get the full song posted asap, and thanks for the visit...........

  • @lookatthesparkels You can get their "greatest hits" on CD and Soldier is on that CD. So yes, if you can find the CD still, it is on there. What an awesome song!

  • thanx...god bless you

  • i remember listening to this song on a bus to zc ,i remember thinking about my life at that point in time and my past and where im going..and now im still at that point in my life..i never move on and i never grew....things are looking down for me...

  • growth is always a potential. sometimes it is painful, but we must feel the pain and move through it in order to become a better person on the other side. Do not look down, instead, look up and have faith- it will carry you the rest of the way.....
