  • It's so funny we all know how to eat: We know that we have to eat soup with a spoon/fork, but 5 people don't know how

  • What a hilarious way to teach hot and cold!

  • Love the "Charlie!!" comments by Grover! THX FOR THIS!! Love it!

  • Eww, even if I had a spoon I wouldn't want to eat soup after someone else blew all over it! lol

  • I'd give a THUMBS UP to the discription. :D

  • IN SPANIS PLEACE -VIDEOS ......

  • @lowridercolombia

    Or learn English.

  • i love waiter grover and the cloth over his arm

  • I wonder if this skit was inspiration for Eddie Murphy at the end of "Coming to America." Ackhaa!!

  • hey asked you been here before then gets you what you want and say he gives you a hard time

  • 5 people forgot the spoon.

  • Charlie never has a day off.

  • Grovers right, Fat Blue instead of being a cranky old jerk should of just said "may I please have a spoon"

  • hahah typical ny lol! I love old Sesame Street it was so much more realistic

  • awwwwww fat blue looks cute in this one.

  • Well that settles it, from now on im bringing my lunch to work in a paper bag!

  • next time wen u want a spoon just ask for one! xD lol

  • next time wen u want a spoon just ask for one!

  • I love that soup

  • dude the joke from Coming to America!! Awesome

  • Fat Blue reminds me of my boss....exactly

  • @Jax1108 I'm just wondering, how?

  • A joke so good they stole it to use in "Trading Places".

  • "lol the next time you want a spoon ask for one" then he faints XD

  • Funny how they're both right: Fat Blue would've saved himself some trouble if he said, "I need a spoon" instead of "I can't eat this." XD

  • Oh I forgot the spo...ooon. "

The next time you want to spoon, ask for one..

  • Has it ever occurred to Fat Blue that he should eat at another restaurant, or maybe still eat at this one, just sit in another section (another server), or just take the food to go?

  • @taurusfroggy Lol maybe he likes the punishment or he is just going to complain to get the meal for free.

  • @taurusfroggy Hey, I'm sure they could come up with some excellent sketches on TAKE-OUT...

"No, I ordered the soup TO GO!"

  • Well, at least fat blue got to EAT SOMETHING FOR ONCE!!!! XP

  • I always loved when this segment would come on!!! "...taste it!...where's the spoon? AHAAHH!!!... I'll get you a spoon.

  • Grover blowing on the soup- L-O-fucking-L!!

  • Grover: Next time when you want a spoon ASK for one!

Mr Johnson: (music plays) Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (crash)

  • this used to be on during lunch and we would eat chicken soup lol

  • Heeeeeeeeyyyyyy...Was this the true origin for the joke at the end of "Coming To America"? ;o)

  • this was from 1972... coming to america was shot in the 80's

  • Yep! That's why I was wonderin' whether this was the origin (source) for the scene/joke in "Coming to America." Probaby not, but, hey, ya never know! :o)

  • this is the funiest character ever what is his name?

  • His name is Grover and he was the bomb.

  • I wonder... does Fat Blue faints nearly every time so he wouldn't have to leave tip for Grover? ;-D

  • chickhen soup, that sounds good.

  • It does indeed..especially on a cold winter day.

  • Have you seen my newest videos?

  • lol...hell..he can eat soup without a spoon...tell him to serve it in a cup...or hell..go barbarian & pick up the bowl & take a slurp...lol

  • Yeah, true; only trouble is that kids might copy him.

  • Honestly, it's not the waiter's problem...people who bus the tables should put siverware on the table.

  • This sketch is taken from a classic routine by legendary Borscht Belt comedian Myron Cohen; he was on Ed Sullivan's show a lot in the late 50s and early 60s

  • This sketch shows about tabel maners

becasue the custimer needs the spoon to eat the soop, The custimer can be picky but knows about proper table maners. nice sketch

  • allright he got everything he want so what is Johnson problem?

  • I'll take a stab and say the Grover's service is the problem.

  • You never serve soup without a spoon, unless that soup is all liquid and no food.

  • "I forgot the spoon...:O" Hehehe. Vaudeville in blue at its best.

  • Hell...lol...it's actually not Grover's fault that there is no spoon...they need to hire some people to bus the tables properly...lol

  • A classic!

  • Sometimes you just gotta stand up to yourself and fight back. That's what Grover did at the end when he told his customer to ask for a spoon if he wants one, which made him faint.

  • LOL why did he faint at the end?!!?!

  • Stress, I suspect...

  • The only sketch where Grover faints is the Alphabet Soup one (the premiere). In all the others, Fat Blue faints. At least Simon Soundman didn't faint in his one appearance..and it took Grover some time (and maybe patience) to figure out what he was saying.

  • I never understood why this gut kept going to the same restaurant.

  • Maybe it's like next door to where he works. He did mention, "That's it. I'm taking a bag lunch to work from now on."

  • He just knows by listening waiter jokes that all waiters are equal. ;-)

  • I Love Grover :) ♥♥♥

  • me too. he's the best! i just love how the customer gets him to realize there's no spoon! AH HA!!!

  • I remember this one

  • One day Grover will go too far and Mr. Johnson (Blue) may strangle him.

  • Either that, or Mr. Johnson should go see one of Grover's friends so he can just find out what Grover really is like. His frequent visits may have been the reason for their quarrel over 38 years.

  • So THIS is where that Jewish guy in the Mi-T-Fine barbershop (Coming to America) got the joke from.

  • you know us you tubers we still love our child hood tv shows like blues clues, sesame street.

  • LMAO I'm 21 and I still enjoy classic Sesame Street! Grover is the greatest! I love him.

  • I'm 17 and I enjoy it too. Kudos! Have a good Spring Break.

  • @carebearnmbr46 I'm 41, and I feel the same way!!

  • hhahahahaha!!!! This is so funny and grover is so cute!

  • I used to love these skits too!

  • If I acted like Grover did at work, I'd be fired!

  • Yeah, I bet you would, so leave these thingsl like this on TV, or even the computer, and don't try these things on your actually job.

  • We most certainly will not act like he did on those Waiter Grover skits in that case.

  • holy crap, memories!

i used to love rover and the waiter skits ^^

  • Next time when you want the spoon... ask for one! Ha! So cute.

  • Grover the Waiter was one of my all-time favorite running skits from Sesame Street!!!

  • Grover would be taking a serious beating if he either worked for me or served me.

  • "I forgot the spoon"! Oh the shame!

    lol

Do ya think any of the writers etc ever worked as waiters in New York City and this is sort of their laughing about the trivia of it all.

  • maybe.

  • It is sort of like NYC food humor isn't it?

  • ah... ja!

    very much

that's where the program was made though so it makes sense it would have some 60s/70s/80s nyc attitude about it

  • Exactly... so much NYC influence. Awesome.

  • Grover is right, he should have asked for a spoon in the first place! "Big Blue" should have said, "May I have a spoon, please" Instead of saying, "I Can't eat this soup."

HE SHOULD HAVE ASK FOR ONE.

Then again, it IS MORE funny the way it is.

  • That certainly would've been a good idea.

  • My throat hurts from laughing

  • "You can't eat soup without a spoon?" LOL

  • haa haa Silly Grover

  • In early skits, Grover was the victim. Later it was Mr. Johnson (the Fat Blue customer). I'd say they're about even here.

  • hehehehee....funny!!!!

  • i have to watch this with my sister. jeez. i must have memorized every word.

  • next time if you want a spoon, ask for one! lol

  • I would hate Grover If he was my Waiter

  • i would hate you if you were my waiter.

  • Well too bad for you I'm a girl I have a job and it's at the Day Care

  • lol! I'm with you 1936

  • lol STUPID GROVER

  • He always have a hard time lol

  • Wow Chicken soup how cool

    I love soup

  • PAPER SACK LOL

  • Ha Ha. Anyone been a waitress? There's one like the blue guy in every crowd!

  • WAITER THERE IS A FLIE IN MY SOUP

not so loud or ever1 will want one =p

  • So, this is the 1st skit that Blue faints in, then, IIRC, it would be 12 years before the next sketch that it occurs again, as they would have Grover fall over at the end in the next few series of the Blue/Grover interactions.

Although by 1985, I get the indication that FB's personality changed to become more aggressive as a result of Grover flubbing each order.

  • There is a Charley's restaurant I go to now and then. IT is actually a supper club.

  • U know he says he will never come back but he always does!!!

  • He has short term memory loss.:)

  • lol

  • thats the comedy of it

  • eddie murphy told the same joke in coming to america

  • I thought the plot of this skit sounded familiar (he says the joke during the credit IIRC). I wonder how old this joke is?

  • A-HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMFAO

  • The soup is hot throw it on grover. Sweet revenge!!!

  • What a funny idea!

  • I always loved these skits! :)

  • Me too.

  • walking talking bad luck!!!

  • lmfao!!!!!!!!! fat blue is a

  • Someone please explain why the Fat Blue keeps coming to the same place where he is poorly serviced? :-D

  • He has short term memory loss.;)

  • Yeah... we got that, man.

  • I love it when he faints... :D

  • I know. I was just thinking, how exactly is this Fat Blue's fault? He had a perfectly normal reason for not being able to accept his soup. On the other hand, Grover seemed to be trying his best here. I guess he was just nervous at having to serve Fat Blue again, as he had been a difficult customer before.

  • Hmm... that sounds about right.

  • You can't eat soup without a spoon! Well, duh! Thats what Fat Bkue was trying to tell Grover all along that he needed a spoon to eat the soup. Sorry, that was Grover's fault for not giving Fat Blue a spoon to begin with. Great clip. Thanks. :)

  • Fat Blue: "you can't eat soup without a spoon."

To be frank, you can but it would be bad table manners.

  • Only if you're with someone. :)

  • And only if that soup is broth, say, chicken broth.

  • That's right, sir. And it is also good to have table manners for which we have as always.

  • Chicken soup in a paper sack? Sounds rather soggy.

  • SOUP-ER DELICIOUS! I think I'll have a bowl right now.

  • "Next time if you want a spoon, ask for one."

  • Poor Grover...for someone who's followed the show over 30+ years, I can imagine him becoming the troublemaker after years of difficult customers getting on his last nerve.
