@thatguyyouknow2 There always has to be a douche like you, finding something negative to say doesn't there? How about giving credit where it's due, 7/12 is pretty damn impressive.
Nice try by the Windies in trying to set the lowest score ever but lets not forget that New Zealand proudly hold that record with 26. I doubt that any team will ever beat that magnificent effort. Other limp records such as BC Laras highest scores will come and go but NZ's 26 will be untouchable throughout the ages.
Harmison was a great bowler on bouncy wickets like Sabina Park and Old Trafford, but he was nothing when conditions didn't suit him - especially away from home, in NZ, Oz. How many caps more than he deserved did he get in the hope he could reproduce this? Too many. IMO the greatest travesty of the England team over the past few years is not turning into South Africa B, but sticking with this guy and bumping off Matthew Hoggard after one bad game. Hoggard would run thru a brick wall for England.
@DrSpectrum he was good on bouncy wickets yes, but you mention oz as though it isnt bouncy.. i think all of them offer bounce, harmy would do much better down there than the crop at the moment, jimmie will be useless as always
What a frustrating bowler Harmison is. That really was a sublime spell of hostile, quick bowling. If only he could fix the mess inside his head he would have gone down as an England great.
Harmison is the best bowler along with Anderson we have in the country so why do we have him sitting at home?
The answer is we have coaches who recognise the problem that he struggles away from home (but is world class at home and for Durham) but simply choose to give up on him and kick him off the team rather than try to bring the best out of him. Shocking coaching from Flowers. Can't see him becoming a good coach if he can't bring the best out of his players.
I've always felt slightly sorry for Stephen Harmison. Maybe it's because I can relate for his dodgy bowling action. I think he should play for England. He's always intimidating and has the ability to be the best. Just a bit more match practice. After his good bowling in the Ashes 2009, I think that the selectors have got it wrong.
Too unpredictable lord. He just had one VERY good year and it takes more than raw pace and intimidation to get the best batsmen out on a consistent basis at this level. He also seems to be very reluctent to leave home. If I had the chance to play for my country in WI, Aus, NZ and SA I'd be ecstatic but Harmy seems to be homesick and disgruntled.
i only got into cricket about 2 years ago and im from australia... playing my first season this year... so scary not knowing the fielding positions and how the game completely works.... captian was yellin at me yesterday (O_O)
Its a great game to watch on tv and to play, the best imo. I think you can watch online in poland through the ecb website and other places but not 100% sure.
I think its ludicrous he isnt on the tour to South Africa, the English selectors make yet ANOTHER shambolic decision, alright ...so he hasnt always delivered but is it any surprise the way they have treated him in the past, too many times hes been in and out of the side/not being picked on the right pitches/not being allowed to play for durham, hes a rhythm bowler!! when he gets it right with favourable conditions hes unplayable! his England careers finished now, well done selectors!!!
i thought he bowled pretty excellently in his last spell in the ashes, darting it across the left handers, bowling a very difficult length to the right handers, I personally thought he did enough. but I do understand the selector's decision, he has been infamously inconsistent when playing for england, but when he's on form he really is quite dangerous. certainly thought he would have been a better choice than liam plunkett, for example
couldn't agree more,he offers something different to the other bowlers,I'm sure in the future he will look back and question his attitude towards playing for England, but if you look at it objectively....he's done everything England have asked of him in the past 12 months, look at his treatment in the West Indies...the flattest pitches Ive seen for a long time, yet when there WAS a pitch that offered something (the abandoned test match which was moved I forget which one) they dropped him! clueless!
@555hugs Definitely, but the problem is that England keep dropping him and then picking him up again, sodding him around and expecting him to perform exactly the same, personally I think he'd have proved invaluable in South Africa; England need someone to extract pace and bounce from the various pitches at various altitudes and Harmy is your man, I know I'm trying to cling to something that isn't there anymore but I still think he's got alot to offer and theres still a few years left hopefully!!
This is undoubtedly a great performance, but I almost wished it hadn't happened. Harmison lived off this reputation, while being consistently pathetic from 2006-present, to keep regaining his place in the side.
Dude saying that Harmison is "going through a bad spell" must be the understatement of the decade. Since that first ball in Brisbane he hasn't been the same. THAT'S OVER TWO AND HALF YEARS MAN!
Steve Harmison should have spent another season at Durham before returning to his little clique in the England Squad. He's a spent force now, it's time for England to stop living in the past (e.g. this video and the '05 ashes) and MOVE THE FUCK ON!!!!
all i can say is revenge is so sweet in 2009 at sabina park, the same ground that this took place england were bowled out for 51. Harmisson looks like an amature now a shadow of his former self. jerome taylor of the west indies looks more like harmarson of the past. revenge is sweet. So england NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH :)

wel all i can say is where were the west indies in the series over here cos they certainly didnt bloody turn up!! and we dont need harmy we ave onions!!! england for the ashes!!!!!
On song, harmison is class - extracts excellent bounce and pace, but his mind dominates his ability, and when he bowls a bad ball, he dwells on it, bowls another and is snowballs...until he is totally shattered mentally.
His key is just bowling, bowling, bowling. Otherwise he will only pick up wickets by batsmen making silly mistakes rather than getting them out, which is what true professionals do regularly.
true true, the fact that Windies got their lowest test total against England, Ridley Jacobs remarkable century, which given the Windies batting brittleness was absolute glory. Well the thing is that specialist analysis has shown tha his grip has changed from the days against the West Indies and now... before it was loose and now it's tight... which means he can't get the ball to swing away from batsmen
01:53 6 English slips and a gully. You don't do that to the Windies over there...

Well the thing is that specialist analysis has shown tha his grip has changed from the days against the West Indies and now... before it was loose and now it's tight... which means he can't get the ball to swing away from batsmen

Fantastic Harmy! Now can you get it together again to do that against the Aussies!

Makes you think, if he can do this on a flat, slow wicket like that why cant he rock it up to the aussies in the ashes? He was terrible yesterday.
