I like the new CD, a lot. It really does have something for everyone. Fun stuff for sure. It does have its fair share of social commentary from that uniquely Devo point of view.
Right on.New Devo, and get this, they actually sound like devo!It sounds like they're actually trying, not just going throught the motions like most comback/reunion records.
@Syddric Ya DEVO is really dedicated to thier music and the ironic thing is they have had more commercial sucess with this CD then all thier other stuff combined...go figure
@RedPortiaOne Yeah, they did this one right, and I hear it was not easy. I like the album, it has high energy, it touches on many of the differnt "era" sounds of Devo yet has it's own vibe. Very well produced and rich sounding but where they really took their time was in the market testing and study and it seems to have paid off. I remember voting in the pre-release surverys myself. They also got the right publicity and gigs..so for an album that will never be a "hit", it was a succes for them
@EntrapmentRocks DEVO Rocks and Dave has always been an asshole man. All that old fart loves to do is make fun of his guests right to thier faces so he can get a laugh.
Why does letterman always have have to stride into the bands personal space after theyv'e barely composed themselves after performing and then confront them with some half-assed quip. Bloody annoying git.
@ryanbrownnew Letterman is an ego maniac and always tries to capture part of the glory for himself. Just as he takes cheap shots at guests and people to get a laugh for himself. I love this performance but cant stand that old man
@Blaze1289 Yes there is. Devo were on Letterman in the 1980s and Mark got on Lettermans desk and crushed a power dome. I suppose it is sybolic nostalga for Mark lol,
Just saw them in Atlanta and these guys have lost nothing in 30 years. Miss the incredible stage set of '80, but then again that's show biz. Tight, creative and still original The band, the crowd had a fantastic time in 90+ heat. Josh is a machine on drums.
@daver53 Man that ROCKS, sounds like you had a fantastic time spud :) Ive seen some of the footage of thier recent concert stuff and they rock as hard as ever. Thanks for posting man
@daver53 I attended that show with my friends. As hot and humid as it was, DEVO floored the gas pedal and didn't let up, they rocked the place!. In the video for Fresh from Atlanta, I'm the guy in the Turquoise shirt just to the left of Jerry. That show will live on in my memory. It was worth the 500-mile drive for me from Tampa,FL. I hope they come to our part of the South again. Yes I would make the drive again. We're ALL Devo!
@Ease54 A bucket list at only 54? You're about 30 years early for that my friend LOL. Man you are LUCKY to see them live. Ive never seen them live. I had a chance in 1980 when I was a teen and passed it up, and have been kicking myself ever since!!
@Ease54 Thanks for the vote of confidence, but when I had my oportunity to see them I was living in Toronto. Ive seen thier tour schedule and the closest they are apearing to me is about 300 miles, so seeing them is kinda up in the air. I will see them one day though :)
Hi everyone :) I recorded and posted this great Devo performance in June 2010, one month ago. There are over 8000 hits on this video which makes it my most popular video ever. I want to thank you all for all your views and comments. Keep em comming and remember, De Evolution happened and we are ALL Devo!!
Could I just throw my 2 cents' worth in here? I can understand how most, if not all true Devotees (of which I'm one) wish Alan would come back. But come on, guys--why all the Josh-bashing??? I don't get it; he's a great drummer & blends in perfectly with the band! Yeah, if Alan comes back, that's cool. If he doesn't--and the guys vote to make him a permanent member of the band--are some of you going to write Devo off because of that? Lighten up & give the guy a break, OK? Just MHO.
@oliasdoug I am in complete agreement with you spud. This video of Fresh on Letterman has run crazy with popularity and we've gotton like 8000 hits in a few weeks since we posted it. with that popularity theres gonna be controversy. Some guy came in here a while ago and started Josh bashing,so we banned him, but that began a bit of a controversy lol. I would love Alan to come back, and although Josh is a temp he should be a permanent member of Devo if Alan declines a comeback. Devo must go on :)
@RedPortiaOne I think it was actually more of a joke based on the overcrowding and pollution of New York if I had to guess. No need to imbue it with quite so much subtext lol
@superdupercooper1, you sure put a lot of effort into finding videos of him. You even took the time to make troll account(s) on YouTube so you could hide behind your keyboard and lie. Why can't you provide back up at why you have such a disdain for the man? I sense some sophomoric insecurities. At least own up to your comments. Why are you so afraid of your cover being blown? You're such a coward.
@JTrainDowntown You go!!! superdupercooper1 is a major Devo hating retard. I told him off good and banned him. BTW I love the 2 Devo live videos you have. You look like you had a great time at that concert :)
@superdupercooper1 Letterman is a Jerkoff who gets laughs at everyone else expense, You post your trash on Devo and Jerry and you obviously have an ax to grind with them. Whats the matter buddy? Did Mark throw your bands demo tape in the trash? Did Jerry fuck your gilrfriend? Or maybe one of the Bobs pissed in your cherios? Face is man, Devo is enjoying a well deserved comeback and if you dont like it then you can fuck off! Youre banned you Devo Hating retard!!!
@0DarkBrotherhood0 Hey Carl, welcome back my man! Currently at 10PM on Sunday night its up to 4954. Its gonna be 5000 by tomorrow lol. This vid has really taken off, but then again we're talking Devo here and its thier comeback CD after a 20 year absence from the music scene ;)
@LonelyAtTheTop79 Letterman is like that. He is one of those ''what can make me look good, spur of the moment'' type of guys. He treats everyone like that, kinda shallow.
Interesting song. Devo is electronic based music with a very rhythmic sound. Thier concept of de-evolution is fasinating. reminicent of the hippy movement of the 1960's, in that it's concept has created a devoted community of followers. The Devovision page has a lot of interesting material. I found the Devo cat listening party to be extremely funny.
@AskMrSpock It's actually completely removed from the hippie movement of the 60's. Devolution essentially categorizes extremely stupid things that people do. It warns of the eventual intellectual shutdown of the entire human race. It also has a raging sense of humor.
@Albeleo Hi Albeleo. Thanks for watching. De evolution is great and Ive been with Devo from the very start as a young teen, so its really cool to see the prophecy of De evolution happening. Most didnt get it in the beginning and thought it was stupid, but when it started happening Devo was haralded as visionaries
@AskMrSpock Hi Spock, Ya I thought the Devo cat listening party was hilarious. I Agree with the hippies and de evolution having both a lot of followers even though they are very seperate things. Thanks for posting bro, its only logical you do that ;)
@JohnnyLovelyOfficial Hey Spud :) No prob on uploading. To bad you were...'detaned' but I have found that if theres something major happening on Tv someone is gonna post it;)
Hey fellow Spuds. Its been a week since I posted this new Devo performance and wanna thank everyone for 4000 hits and all the great comments. Keep em coming cuz we are all Devo!
@prayfortheplan Yes there are bashers cockroaches everywhere on you tube thats for sure. Devo has been around for over 30 years and I know thier comeback is gonna be incredible. There was a huge demand for new stuff for them to have a comeback, and so far they have not dissapointed :)
Screw all of the bashers, ive been watching Devo from the start, and they are a GOOD band that why they are on the Letterman show, the drummer fits in very well, and the performance is great! Thanks for posting!
@mw94533 Screw all the bashers, you go man! I've been with Devo from the start as well and love thier music. Its a great performance I agree and is the beginning of a new string of Devo hits. Glad you enjoyed it :)
@sausake15 Ya thats more of a Devo ballad and not typical Devo style. I like that song too. It shows a tender side of Devo that we aren't always accustomed to seeing
Devo went downhill with total devo which was ok eventhough Alan was on some tracks but not credited. Shout was their really last original thought.
The messed up by not putting something out that sounded like their first three albums, maybe even something close to the day my baby gave me a surprise track.
Alan is Devo, josh stinks (only because i like Devo not this band)! They should have called themselves something else or should hav gone with the wipeouts.
@shawnrivas1972 I thought Shout was thier last good album, and aparently Devo lost thier recording contract with Warner because Shout did really badly. I always felt they should have promoted the song 'Here to go' from that album rather then the song shout, which stunk.
Alan was a huge part of Devo but was not Devo IMO. Josh is a good drummer but is just a kid compared to the founders of Devo. I was with Devo from the beginning in 1978 and its just not the same without Alan.
@RedPortiaOne because alan thought he was thought he was being replaced by a drum machene. plus who cares guys! this is devos 1st album since 1990! give them respect!
@1devo6587 A drum machine? LOL a drum machine could never replace a real drummer, specially on e as good as Alan. I totally respect Devo which is why I recorded this video and posted it
@RedPortiaOne Thank you!!! i put the whole give devo respect thing there beacause some of these people just keep bashing them for no real reason. im glad somebody elese here understands that just because DEVO has a new drummer, it doesnt mean that they are bad! DEVO will always be an awsome band!
@1devo6587 This thread went a little weird with a few posts cuz some guy came in and said that Josh sucked and it wasn't Devo without Alan.
Just to set the record straight everyone, this is Devo's comeback CD after 20 years so don't even bother to Devo bash here. If there are any more comments like that, they will be promptly removed!
i have seen devo twice, once at lalapalooza and the other at the hard rock in vegas, both great shows, i meet mark in the lobby of the hard rock, he noticed my devo shirt and said "cool shirt man" i said wow thanks mark! i felt like a geek... but again blessed, like rodney ethan rooter says "those red hats are hot" be happy or not! we must repeat!
@orlando0999 Wow thats great seeing Devo Live 2 times but meeting Mark must have been the coolest thing ever! Thanks for sharing that story man you made my day. You are a major SPUD cuz its not everyday that you meet Mark Mothersbaugh. And those red hats are hot...we must repeat :)
@shawnrivas1972 I miss Alan too but I gotta disagree with you spud. Alan was a strong rhythmic drummer and theres no denying that Josh is too. With Alan gone, Devo had to go on & they did the next best thiing they could do which is get a really good drummer like Josh. His musical resume is quite impressive. And Devo fans (myself included) love the new sound. The new CD ''Something for everybody'' is selling really well. With Mark, Jerry Bob M. and Bob C still there Devio is stronger then ever
@shawnrivas1972 I wouldn't go that far, but I would give anything for Alan to come back to the band. And nothing against Josh, but he's really just a hired gun and not a real member. Notice he isn't present in the new "reality show" videos.
@Druffmaul Hey I know what you mean spud. Josh is almost a session player and not a true Devo member. I was calling Josh ''John'' for a bit cuz I forgot his name and in my mind he isnt a true Devo member. It would be great if Alan came back. All we spuds can do is keep our fingers crossed.
@shakethelizard Devo was the 80's, but now with the release of ''Something for everyone'' its like re living those glory days again but with a 'fresh' 21st century twist
@Louie4711 Mark is stepping on the energy domes, I'm guessing, because many years ago during an interview, Dave asked Mark what would happen to a (red) energy dome if it was put in an oven. Mark demonstrated the result by climbing on Dave's desk and crushing the energy dome with his foot!
@Louie4711 I saw a Devo Interview from many years ago and they heated an energy dome to 450 F. Mark then stepped on it and said 'this is what happens to an energy dome if you heat it to 450F' It was a funny video and is available here on you tube by typing ''Devo 450 degree energy dome'' :)
thanks i for the post of this, i was well too medicated to stay up to watch them last night... love devo since 79 and still do< from the top of my energy dome to the bottom of my heart. ... we are STILL devo!
@orlando0999 Hey spud. Sorry to hear you are having probs but glad you enjoyed the show. I just wish Letterman would have interviewed Mark and Jerry. Letterman is like that though, he always burries his musical guests at the end of the show and never interviews them lol. Ive been into Devo since the very beginning in 1978 when I was a kid, and I agree, we are all STILL DEVO! ;)
@0DarkBrotherhood0 Hey Carl :) How are ya bro? Devo always had some sort of cool head gear and this is thier latest in 2010. I recorded it on our DVR, then placed it in our computers drive. I then used windows live movie maker and turned it into an wmv. Aint technology grand? ;)
@timotep Oh ya for sure. I've been listening to them since 1979 and love these guys. I was really upset when I heard they broke up in the early 1990's. But here they are back and rocking stonger then ever! Devo Forever :)

@sausake15 Ya thats more of a Devo ballad and not typical Devo style. I like that song too. It shows a tender side of Devo that we aren't always accustomed to seeing
RedPortiaOne 1 year ago
Devo went downhill with total devo which was ok eventhough Alan was on some tracks but not credited. Shout was their really last original thought.
The messed up by not putting something out that sounded like their first three albums, maybe even something close to the day my baby gave me a surprise track.
Alan is Devo, josh stinks (only because i like Devo not this band)! They should have called themselves something else or should hav gone with the wipeouts.
shawnrivas1972 1 year ago
@shawnrivas1972 I thought Shout was thier last good album, and aparently Devo lost thier recording contract with Warner because Shout did really badly. I always felt they should have promoted the song 'Here to go' from that album rather then the song shout, which stunk.
Alan was a huge part of Devo but was not Devo IMO. Josh is a good drummer but is just a kid compared to the founders of Devo. I was with Devo from the beginning in 1978 and its just not the same without Alan.
RedPortiaOne 1 year ago
@shawnrivas1972 PS do you (or anyone else reading this know why Alan left Devo?
RedPortiaOne 1 year ago
@RedPortiaOne because alan thought he was thought he was being replaced by a drum machene. plus who cares guys! this is devos 1st album since 1990! give them respect!
1devo6587 1 year ago
@1devo6587 A drum machine? LOL a drum machine could never replace a real drummer, specially on e as good as Alan. I totally respect Devo which is why I recorded this video and posted it
RedPortiaOne 1 year ago
@RedPortiaOne Thank you!!! i put the whole give devo respect thing there beacause some of these people just keep bashing them for no real reason. im glad somebody elese here understands that just because DEVO has a new drummer, it doesnt mean that they are bad! DEVO will always be an awsome band!
1devo6587 1 year ago
@1devo6587 This thread went a little weird with a few posts cuz some guy came in and said that Josh sucked and it wasn't Devo without Alan.
Just to set the record straight everyone, this is Devo's comeback CD after 20 years so don't even bother to Devo bash here. If there are any more comments like that, they will be promptly removed!

i have seen devo twice, once at lalapalooza and the other at the hard rock in vegas, both great shows, i meet mark in the lobby of the hard rock, he noticed my devo shirt and said "cool shirt man" i said wow thanks mark! i felt like a geek... but again blessed, like rodney ethan rooter says "those red hats are hot" be happy or not! we must repeat!
orlando0999 1 year ago
@orlando0999 Wow thats great seeing Devo Live 2 times but meeting Mark must have been the coolest thing ever! Thanks for sharing that story man you made my day. You are a major SPUD cuz its not everyday that you meet Mark Mothersbaugh. And those red hats are hot...we must repeat :)

More like a hundred hit wonder
RedPortiaOne 1 year ago
@shawnrivas1972 so you are saying that devo had been good??????? A one hit wonder is not a good band.
haro081 1 year ago
@shawnrivas1972 I miss Alan too but I gotta disagree with you spud. Alan was a strong rhythmic drummer and theres no denying that Josh is too. With Alan gone, Devo had to go on & they did the next best thiing they could do which is get a really good drummer like Josh. His musical resume is quite impressive. And Devo fans (myself included) love the new sound. The new CD ''Something for everybody'' is selling really well. With Mark, Jerry Bob M. and Bob C still there Devio is stronger then ever
RedPortiaOne 1 year ago
@shawnrivas1972 I wouldn't go that far, but I would give anything for Alan to come back to the band. And nothing against Josh, but he's really just a hired gun and not a real member. Notice he isn't present in the new "reality show" videos.
Druffmaul 1 year ago
@Druffmaul Hey I know what you mean spud. Josh is almost a session player and not a true Devo member. I was calling Josh ''John'' for a bit cuz I forgot his name and in my mind he isnt a true Devo member. It would be great if Alan came back. All we spuds can do is keep our fingers crossed.
RedPortiaOne 1 year ago
@shawnrivas1972 PS I'll bet you with all the new found sucess Devo is having with this CD Alan is kicking himslef in the ass for leaving

Mark demonstrated the result by climbing on Dave's desk and crushing the energy dome with his foot!
tomxchao 1 year ago
Thanks for uploading this! Why was Mark attempting to crush those perfectly good energy domes?
Louie4711 1 year ago
@Louie4711 I saw a Devo Interview from many years ago and they heated an energy dome to 450 F. Mark then stepped on it and said 'this is what happens to an energy dome if you heat it to 450F' It was a funny video and is available here on you tube by typing ''Devo 450 degree energy dome'' :)
RedPortiaOne 1 year ago
thanks i for the post of this, i was well too medicated to stay up to watch them last night... love devo since 79 and still do< from the top of my energy dome to the bottom of my heart. ... we are STILL devo!
orlando0999 1 year ago
@orlando0999 Hey spud. Sorry to hear you are having probs but glad you enjoyed the show. I just wish Letterman would have interviewed Mark and Jerry. Letterman is like that though, he always burries his musical guests at the end of the show and never interviews them lol. Ive been into Devo since the very beginning in 1978 when I was a kid, and I agree, we are all STILL DEVO! ;)

0DarkBrotherhood0 1 year ago
@0DarkBrotherhood0 Hey Carl :) How are ya bro? Devo always had some sort of cool head gear and this is thier latest in 2010. I recorded it on our DVR, then placed it in our computers drive. I then used windows live movie maker and turned it into an wmv. Aint technology grand? ;)
