If your guitar was in a room alone with this video it would kill itself. Then your Mom would kill it again. Just cause you can't play like that...ever.... Yes its true.... Your Mom told me. Go watch a Green Day video. You'll feel better.
@cosmicjazzer Paco didn't come from the jazz school so he does a lot of guessing and hits a some clunkers. AWESOME FLAMENCO PLAYER, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't target the 3rd and 7ths of chords like Al and sometimes John do. Which, of course, comes from their knowledge of jazz improvisation.
@fabianidhesona My point is that since John and Al have played a lot of jazz they use the approach of weaving in and out of the chords. And they're doing it here.
@hummarstra you said that Paco doesn't target the 3rd and the 7ths of chords. I mean, whats the point? this is not jazz. so why you're worried about of how Paco follows the chord.
Paco is especially good here - I really like 1:09 - 1:15 , 1:30 - 1:33 and 2:07 - 2:11. Al's second solo is pretty good too. As always these guys are great fun to watch!
found out who al di meola was through the band " Return to Forever" and damn am i glad i stumbled upon him, all three of these guys, guitar wizards in their rightful forms..
Saw them together at the Lycabetus Theatre (ancient outdoor ampi-theatre) in Athens, summer 1981.....yikes...28 years ago!... the PA blew up at some point....Great memories.
can i know whiche live it is ?

Τα λόγια για αυτούς του Καλλιτέχνες είναι περιττά,
Το πάθος και η λατρεία για τη μουσική είναι ζωγραφισμένα στα πρόσωπά τους

I've always found Al D the most harmonically aware and interesting of these three. Paco has a special fire but his note choices are.... odd!

@KnockenTube Well.... I do know what I like! And I like the fact that Al D's note choices always respect the chords changes.

I see ...
paco didn't know how to improvise when he meets aldi and john in 70s

@KnockenTube Of course he knows how to improvise!! I just happen to prefer the note choices of Al D, which conform to the changes more...
