3G gives you about 1.8 Mbps of Download speed from Sprint, the FASTEST 3G out there.
4G is going to give you speeds of 1-2 Mbps Up and 6 Mbps Down.
There are 2 major 4G services; WiMax serviced by Sprint and Clearwire (supported by intel, Google, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and others) and then there is LTE (Long Term Evolution) which is probobly going to be the 4G World Standard. (like GSM) LTE is going to be the 4G standard of Verizon, At&t, and T-Mobile.
LTE is too far away at least until next 3 to 4 years and doesnt even work as reliable as wimax does,i see more customers coming to sprint everyday and i think sprint will be number 2 or even better number one after wimax..............
More customers eh? That's why Sprint lost another 1.25M post-paid customers in Q1 2009? Come on...Sprint couldn't attract customers unless it practically gave away it's network...like it is doing with Boost: give away everything for the minimal price of $50. Great for pre-paid users, lousy for Sprint.
What 4G network is Hesse even talking about?!? Everyone that knows anything about WiMAX knows that the WiMAX Forum has already redesignated WiMAX to be a super-3G network protocol, not a 4G protocol which Long Term Evolution (aka LTE) has already been christened to be. So Hesse has stooped down to lying about what Sprint really can offer. No wonder customers continue to leave Sprint in droves!
Toxik03, you're the one that needs a life and a brain. Try looking up anything on WiMAX's designation, and you'll see that the WiMAX Forum group designated it as a SUPER-3G...NOT 4G. But, to the layperson such as yourself, I suppose you could consider it 4G, even though it technically isn't.
i just switched from at&t to sprint. sprint kicks ass!! way better coverage and voice quality
