D: Well, I would just tell him that the violin is a great instrument that can express all emotions, and you don't have to play just classical pieces, you can play fun stuff like this with beat and drums. Playing the violin is a great way to express your creativity and your feelings through music. Good luck! I hope he changes his mind :)

If it's a new song that I am not familiar with, I may spend an hour or two learning all of it and then record it. As for the parts that I make up and add to the song, it just kind of comes to me and I try to remember it in that moment. Is that what you mean? You should totally put up a cello cover!
