On GT5 i can do it in 5:03 with room for improvement,

obviously this is very different but 1 minute??

Actually after watching this lap again. Its definitely very slow..

you can see how much the driver is holding back..

every bend can be taken much faster..

Lauda's crash wasnt the only reason formula 1 left the Ring. It was also a nightmare for tv crews, because the circuit was so long......in the mid 70s tv was becoming a big deal in formula 1. That had alot to do with it. Safety was a big talking point too though, they didnt have marshal's for the entire length. After Lauda's crash other drivers near him stopped to pull him from the car because there were no marshal's in the area.

HAH! The F1 wing is so low they skipped the carousel. I'd just like to see how fast they can go around the track, but that's it. To me, Nordschleife is a dream for road cars, in that it's the windy, yet fast country road that every enthusiast dreams of.

@5555petros Sarthe is to focussed on engine power, with its massive straights, todays little V8's wouldnt be all that impressive, though it should still be a good track to hold a race. It already races LMP cars on it, and if we need a French GP, it makes perfect sense. (Would also love to see of the 908 fares in lap times vs an F1 car).

Norschleife? To long, to twisty, to dangerous. It would be like a 20 lap race, with no more overtaking oportunities than Monza, and would need changing for safet

Amazing track, even though they probably can't bring it back, F1 needs something like it with better run off and less bumps leading into turns. Heidfeld was far from his limit, but when you have 24 F1 cars that are, it becomes a nightmare. Just wasn't designed with modern F1 saftey standards in mind, but still alright for cars that go into turns slower.

Seriously this is the most epic track in the whole world, but it's unsafe for current F1.

Think about at least 5 F1 cars in the first corner, it would be a disaster crash, or think about an overtaking on the Dottinger Hohe. Too much bumby for F1.

Even i would love to see F1 at the Nordschleife, but it won't be possible anymore.

The reason heidfeld is not opening up full throttle the whole time is that, at 220mph(350kph), a little air gets under the car, all downforce is gone, and the car takes flight and does backflips. Then someone is brutally injured.

Ya there' no way they could ever race f1 here. Still a legit and legendary track. Deadly too, way too dangerous to have f1 drivers pushing hard in race conditions. It's just so long! I don't know if anyone could memorize the gear changes for every turn out there. And the bumps are gnarley.

Notice in the video how heidfeld slows down at the crest of hills. Good thinking nick! All it takes is a wee bit of air to get under the floor pan at the crest of a hill and an f1 car turns into a flying sa

Awesome to see a modern F1 car at the ring! I always wonder that if they could make it safe enough to have a grand prix there now what sort of race it would be? I think they'd all just get spread out and it would be piss boring ( before anyone shoots me down I know it's impossible for modern GP to take place there just thinking what if)

@koistinennnn He was never so fast. Under six min could be possible. The tyres were from Avon, only for GP2 on that day and could't go so fast.. Also ist was the only lap. But six min. can be done are only in the simulators with the bumbers. Punto 1410 completly right.
