just a quick question about this exercise is it important how far apart your feet are spaced im just beginning and im having real trouble getting my balance
fucking awesome exactly what i needed, im trying to get 1 handed hand stands and this is a perfect excercise holy shit ive been looking for an excercise like this for months
This one is actually really hard to do - make sure your exercise ball is full with air - any give - and it won't keep you as sturdy as you need to be!
Use your feet to form a wide stable base (like a tripod or like stilts). At the start I used both my arms to and a wall behind me to help get the balance down. Please be careful as you can roll of the ball and bash your face or your head. :)
I really enjoyed your video. Thanks a lot. I have bought a ball today and I will follow your instructions so I can do my abs exercises correctly. I was just wondering if you can suggest any exercise with the ball where I can work my lower abs. It is taking me a long time. Any suggestions Adam?
i was just wondering if you could tell me how long it took for you to get your body to look like that? i just wanted an idea to see whether or not im progressing too slow. Thanks a lot!
everyones different some people dont get really ripped, some do,some dont have to watch what they eat ,some do, if u want to look more like Adam do more erobic workouts best one is swimming..
Adam, I have a lot of trouble setting this up and keeping my balance. For one, I'm unable to angle my hips at a 45 degree angle with the floor, even with a 65mm ball. When I do attempt to contract the obliques, rather than feeling tension where I should, I feel pain in my lower back. Would you know what's causing this?
Your abs like any muscle start to respond to proper training stimuli almost immediately. I suppose the answer to your question depends on your starting point, nutrition, rest, age, and many other variables. Many of my training clients start to see results in a matter of days or few weeks.
There's absolutely nothing special about the mat. The stability comes from the secure leg placement against the wall. However when you're just beginning you might find the ball wants to move around a little.
You're welcome but I can't take all the credit, these exercises have been around for a while. I learned the side crunch from Paul Chek. A lot of people seem to lack the frontal plane strength and stability but develop it quickly with this exercise. The side crunch is one of my favorite Swiss ball exercises.
I'm not a nutrition expert. Personally I prefer to emaphasize in season organic fruit and vegetables (raw or lightly cooked). However, I do eat some whole grain bread, sprouts, crackers etc. I wouldn't make bread or cereal grains my main source of carbs. The bread I like the best is from a local orgainic bakery where they grind the flour fresh each morning. The longer something like bread has been sitting on a shelf the less I'm inclined to eat it.
No, I don't count calories at all, ever. I'm not neccessarily opposed but I just don't. I find if I'm eating the right things it's usually hard to over eat.
Yes, I am the guy in the videos and owner/operator of the company. When seated on a fully inflated ball your hips and knees should be about 90 degrees. Don't over inflate the ball past the manufacturers recommendations! Most people 5'3" to about 5'11" should use a 65cm ball. I'm 5'11" and I prefer a firm 55cm. If your over 6' tall use a 65cm for sure.
Thanks . Ab exercises needs a strict balanced high protein diet , as probably you have one . Would you suggest a book or a source about a these diets to accompany the work-out regimens , especially ab work-outs?
I would suggest Paul Chek's book Eat, Move and Be Healthy. If you really want some great info get his 10-disc audio book You Are What You Eat. My personal diet is pretty basic: organic whole foods, a few basic supplements, very little sugar, refined oils/fats, not a lot of grains/flour/bread etc, minimal alcohol. However I wouldn't say my diet is strict at all. I frequently enjoy a few beers with my buddies and eat my favorite whole wheat cinnamon roll from a local bakery.
Yes , I have a similar regimen , as well. I think I am into cheese & whole wheat bread more than I have to. I have the AB'S DIET of David Zinczenko.
How many times do you suggest to have ab exercises weekly? Some suggest 1 day rest between the ab exercises , some others every day. What is your point of view? Thanks
Training frequency for abs or any muscle depends on a lot of variables. I work abs 3-5X per week, 5-6 reps per exercise not to failure or extreme fatigue. Listen to your body - if need rest or you're not making or maintaining progress take a couple days off.
This is probably my favorite Swiss ball exercise. People are amazed at how hard it is (when done correctly). I like going for five perfect reps and never more than ten. Good luck. - Adam
