So i have a few tarantulas myself :I 2 Rose hairs, 1 Versicolor pinktoe, and a Brazillian Salmon pink...and i can tell you that you really have nothing to be afraid of o_o, 99.9% of people are like OH GAWD SCARY MONSTER LETS SMASH IT AND BLOW IT UP. When i bet you 20$ that it will just ignore you..like if you were just a everyday thing..and sure your ass will get bit if you try to do something stupid..those people give them bad reps..and tell people it came after you for no reason :L

@Berith003 Well, widows are shy biters and so are recluses. You will almost never run into one, it does not TRY to bite you, it all is just in defense. Venom of any toxicity is crucial for the spider. Although they can make more, they try to save the venom only for prey.

Theraphosa blondi (The Goliath birdeater) is rarely vicious. You really have to corner one in order to get a threat pose, then push its boundaries even more to get it to actually strike. Tarantulas, like snakes and other venomous predators, save their venom for food. If you make it known you're not food, they're most likely going to dry bite, which means no venom.

The tarantulas that do the most damage are the ones that want to be left alone, which means they're hiding anyway.

Iv been bit by many diffrent species of tarantula's, some hurt like fuck, others didnt, but you know if you go smashing through somones home, your going to get a good kickin, mess about with a tarantula's home, your going to get bit (unlikely). But beings they warn you first to go away, even "slap" you to get you to leave, biting is a very last resort for these

it would probably be better to just quickly fling it off before it can react, then get away from it, especially if the spider is already in a defensive position. if you sit there an do nothing while the spider is already distressed its actually more likely to attack you.

They have small, retractable claws on each foot, so if it's clinging to your clothes, and you try to smack it off, you're going to get bit. If you sit still and it bites you anyway, then get over it. A tarantula bite would ruin your day at the worse, and even then, it's not so bad.
